Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Leveling Servants

After the cemetery, they went to the AE Forges one more time.

Mater had accumulated 85 Chaos Spheres. 30 of them were given to Crow for him to reach level 1.

The black cat had 55 Chaos Spheres left, enough to make both Bash and Aurora level 10. Mater intended to raise his power to the maximum.

In the forge studio, Mater spat out another 30 Spheres and threw it inside the Infernal Shrines. The Chaos Spheres disappeared into the melting magma inside the iron flower.

Mater released Bash out of the Dark Grimoire.

"Jump inside and let the Shrine feed you, Bash. Don’t fight it." Bash’s intelligence was acceptable at best so Mater needed to explain it more bluntly.

"Bash is going to eat to full!"

The Brute Demon jumped into the iron flower as his body shrunk and was pulled inside. He looked like a child jumping into the pool.

"Lively kid." Mater chuckled.

The black cat opened his hand. A new reddish sphere appeared in his palm. This sphere was different from the usual Chaos Spheres. The color was lighter and there were faces circling inside the spheres.

Mater killed all of the gang members for a reason. He had snatched all of their souls to feed Bash.

Bash was an artificial wraith. He was made by a ritual fusing many members of the Red Keepers. He didn’t have any locks in him. Mater couldn’t strengthen Bash’s power the usual way.

That’s why he was using this sphere of collected souls instead.

Mater threw the sphere at the iron flower as it swallowed the souls immediately. Screams and moans of those vanquished souls echoed chaotically in the studio before being drowned out by the power of the iron flower.

The Infernal Shrine closed up and returned to its normal appearance, an ordinary electrical forge with nothing special about it.

"Let’s go," Mater said.

Selina drove to the final location, the Cold Storage. This place was refurbished by her so it looked much more accommodating than before.

They went inside the cold room as Mater spat out 24 Chaos Spheres.

Aurora was level 7, one level higher than Crow and Bash, so she needed fewer spheres to reach level 10.

"Do it like last time, Aurora. However, your situation might be different from the rest. We were able to break a lock within you by killing your murderer." The black cat meowed.

"How different would it be, Master?" Aurora said.

"I don’t know for sure. You might remember more of your past life. You may awaken a new ability. Or maybe there will be a new form." The black cat meowed.

"But will I still be who I am now, Master? I... Will I return to Alice Rosenberg? Will I bear her weight?" Aurora played with her fingers while looking down. She was obviously nervous about what was going to happen.

"Hmph." Mater rubbed his small cat chin for a bit before waving at Aurora, telling her to lower herself to meet his small body.

The black cat placed its paw gently on Aurora’s cheek and rubbed it with care.

"My dear. There are things that we can’t run away from. Especially our past. You aren’t Alice Rosenberg. But you were her. You will have to bear her weight, endure her pain, and face her enemies.

But don’t you worry, my servant. Because Master is here to protect you." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Aurora’s eyes welled with tears for the first time ever. In the beginning, she was cold and indifferent. A perfect incarnation of an ice undead. But she slowly gained more emotions as time went on. Especially after killing Levy.

"Thank you, Master. Aurora will always be here to protect you two."

She sniffed the black cat’s paw and kissed him on the forehead. Which made Mater instinctively hissed at her. He was always a spicy cat.

Aurora chuckled and stepped back, sitting on her ice throne. The Glacial Shrine closed up and enveloped her.

"Damn it. I was just molested by my servant!"

"Don’t act like you hate it. Hehe." Selina picked the cat up and walked out of the cold room. Her entire body shivered because of the cold.

"I’m really tired, Mr. Mater. Can’t we just stay here for the night?" Selina said.

"Fine by me."

The cat and his owner decided to stay in the cold storage house instead of returning to the Institute. There was no class yet. Nothing to have a fuss about.

That night, the ACPD was rather crowded. Alister was sitting in his office, watching the reports and photos of the crime scene relating to the Haland Boys case.

"They had an NCE, huh?" Alister mumbled. He worked in this line of job for many years to know that there was something not right about the report.

However, Alister didn’t get to the bottom of it. He simply closed the case files and forgot about it.

The person in question was Selina. And the victims were a group of drug dealers and outlaws that Alister couldn’t care less about. If Selina wanted to kill them, so be it.

Cole knocked on the door, "Detective? Someone is here to see you."

"Who?" Alister raised an eyebrow.

"She said she’s Francesca from the Obscure Association."

’Ugh. Those vultures came. I already know what their intentions are...’ Alister covered his face in disdain.

The corporate Psychics hated the government Psychics. Similarly, the Psychics in the government also hated Psychics that worked for corporations.

In Alister’s eyes, those corporate agents were soul-sucking, money-hungry, and attention-seeking bastards. While he and the people in the government worked for a fraction of their income and protected this country, they were showered with fame and wealth.

As much as he hated them, Alister couldn’t say no.

"Tell her I’ll be there in five minutes."

Alister stood up, looked into the mirror, and adjusted his tie.

"I look like a homeless man." The black eye bags and disheveled hair didn’t really help him. Alister walked out to meet Francesca.

In the waiting room, Francesca was sitting in her tight black dress with the long cigarette in her mouth.

"No smoking in the police station." Alister said.

Francesca lit the cigarette with her mind. She took a deep breath and blew in Alister’s face. The smoke dissipated completely before touching him and didn’t even leave a smell.

"Don’t worry. Wherever I smoke, nothing is left behind." Francesca said. She was using her Psychic Power to deal with the smoke.

Alister grabbed his face in disdain.

Cole got into the room, "Detective Baltimore. There is also someone else that wants to see you. He said he’s Titan from the Atlas Seven."

Francesca bit down on her cigarette holder. Alister’s face turned serious immediately, his brow furrowed.

’Trouble’s coming...’ Alister thought to himself.
