CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 84: Struggling To Tell
Princess Teimei understood the hidden meaning in her brother’s words. She nodded her head and took the dish that Prince Carl forwarded to her.
"Yes, this is indeed delicious." There was a smile on Princess Teimei’s face but her gaze was narrowed.
Soon the royals dispersed and the Vivere Kingdom’s Crown Prince, Prince Carl left the premises with a few of his soldiers and made his way to Duke Bentham’s Mansion.
But before he took the hold of the horse, Prince Carl gave a last look at Princess Cassandra.
[I will be waiting for Princess. Don’t forget your promise.]
Cassandra swallowed as she nodded her head. Even though there was a smile on her face, only Cassandra knew how powerless she felt at the moment.
’I need to do something.’
’I have to teach Ed and now this ..’
’What should I tell Ed? Where am I going?’
’He is a guard that is supposed to take care of me. But if I tell him, Ed will tell Duke Salvador.’
’This will get complicated.’
’I need to do something.’
Cassandra’s nails were dug deep into her palm. Unbothered with the pain it brought to her, Cassandra’s mind refused to remain quiet.
Once Prince Carl and his group had left the building, The Emperor and the Empress turned around. There was a smile on their face as the Empress came forward.
"Princess Teimei might be tired from all the traveling. Why don’t you take some rest tonight."
The Empress’s words were filled with patience. But everyone could understand the hidden meaning behind it. ’I cannot deal with you today. You are irrelevant to me.’
But Princess Teimei simply smiled even though she understood it. "Yes, Empress."
Princess Teimei left with the guard and her lady in waiting towards the room that was provided to her. But as she passed through the door, Princess Teimei looked at all the Princesses standing in a row.
[Keep your room open Princess Cassandra. I will escort you to Duke Bentham’s Mansion.]
Princess Cassandra’s eyes widened in shock as she heard Princess Teimei’s thoughts.
Cassandra had thought that only Prince Carl knew that she could hear people’s thoughts but even their Princess knew. It was as if they were using such a way of communication to be unnoticed.
’Are they really here for a peace treaty?’
’Why do I feel like they are targeting me.’
Cassandra saw the Princess move away as her shadow disappeared.
’I wanted a quiet and normal life.’
’I am getting all the unwanted attention?’
Cassandra sighed. There was a dullness in her gaze that was unavoidable.
As they started moving towards their respective rooms as the hall started getting empty. Amy and Princess Cassandra moved towards her room as well.
Amy could determine that Princess Cassandra was in deep thoughts. Something was bothering her, but what was unknown.
"Princess?" Amy said when they both entered the room. "Did something happen?"
Princess Cassandra looked at Amy whose eyes were filled with worry. "No, I am just tired. Maybe I will sleep deeply throughout the night."
Amy’s sight moved towards Princess Cassandra’s gaze. After determining, the Princess really looked tired. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Yes Princess, I think the Palace is organizing an evening feast for the arrival of Vivere Kingdom’s Princess and Crown Prince. But I think only prominent figures are advised to visit." Amy said as she arranged for a lighter dress for Princess Cassandra.
Cassandra giggled as her body relaxed. "Just because we are unimportant we can avoid this situation. I was never this thankful for being irrelevant."
Amy smiled at Princess Cassandra’s words. She could feel the annoyance in the Princess’s tone but she ignored it.
Amy knew what the fifth Princess was like. She hated being around a lot of people and did not like any unwanted attention. Her words fitted the image of Princess Cassandra that Amy had in her mind.
Once Princess Cassandra had changed her clothes she smiled as she told Amy to leave her alone.
Amy nodded and left the room in silence. She knew that even though the fifth Princess would not attend the event, she as a servant had to give some inputs.
Once the door was closed, Princess Cassandra’s eyes turned dark. Many things were bothering her and now it was at her limit.
The main question was, ’How did they know?’
Princess Cassandra moved towards her seat as she removed the pages she had copied for the Duke. Although she had given out the original book, Cassandra for once was grateful for having these pages with all the information.
’But I know that the diary is not completed.’
Cassandra thought as her body stiffened. When the fifth Princess had first encountered the diary in the library she had noticed that a huge amount of chunks of pages were toned out. Maybe due to the years that the book was kept in the library the marks indicating the tone had disappeared.
But Cassandra still saw it clearly. Even though it confused her then, but now that she thought back, it was evident why such a thing would happen.
’The diary only talks about the main four elements.’
’I have taken the information and tried to use it to my thoughts and hearing capabilities.’
’But what if there is something else?’
’Something that was stoned out of the diary intentionally.’
Princess Cassandra thought back at what Vivere Kingdom’s Crown Prince had said.
’If you cannot control fire, wind, water, and earth and control something else you are a witch, Someone who uses dark magic.’
Princess Cassandra’s eyes sharpened. The treatment that people get if they cannot control the main four elements was unspeakable. Cassandra also knew that she was able to survive because she was a Princess.
’But what if they know about my ability?’
’Will I be a witch for them?’
’Will I be a dark magician and treated like one?’
Cassandra’s heart was filled with fear. Fear of the unknown was making her mind mess up.
Cassandra’s hold on the pages tightened. She looked at it as she struggled to understand what she should be doing.
Not attending the Crown Prince of Vivere Kingdom was out of the question. And for once Cassandra also wanted to visit him. She wanted to know how the man knew that she could read minds.
’Have Prince Carl met someone with similar powers?’
’Are there more people like me?’
Cassandra’s eyes shined but her mind was still deviating. Many things could go wrong in the meeting and Cassandra wanted to avoid all such situations.
She looked down as she cleared her mind from all the unwanted thoughts. ’It is time for me to concentrate.’
Cassandra’s eyes turned sharp as she buried herself in studying the words.
But no matter how much Cassandra read there was nothing new in it. None of it talked about the way other than the four elements works. But as Cassandra read further something caught her attention. Something that she had neglected reading before.
’What is this?’ Cassandra’s fingers weren’t through the line as she read it carefully.
’The crystal of life that is clear as the sky can take up every color. The mages possessing powers have it all. Red for fire, blue for water, yellow for air, and brown for the earth. And the darkness that is present in between the aligned crystals is the path of space.’
Cassandra could not understand what it meant clearly but soon her gaze turned narrow.
’Doesn’t it mean that the crystals that Ed saw were the crystals of power?’
’He saw red crystals because he is a fire mage.’
’But if someone can control more than one element can they see two color crystals?’
’Can Amy see brown crystals?’
Cassandra’s mind turns sharp. She had to make Amy see the crystals just like Ed. Princess Cassandra was sure that because Amy’s power was weaker she mind not react the way Ed did.
’Should I bring Amy into the forest and make her practice?’
Cassandra shook her head. ’The number of soldiers has increased significantly. It would be troublesome if people saw us in that condition and Amy is not trained to concentrate in a state of panic.’
’So if not now then when?’
’At night?’ Cassandra rubbed her chin but soon her spirit fell down.
’No, I cannot do that as well. After the dinner party is over I have to visit Bentham’s Mansion.’
’And I even have to tell Ed.’
’Maybe while the dinner party is taking place I can take Amy to the forest.’
’Yes, I can do that.’
Cassandra’s eyes shined as she had found a perfect plan to understand what Ed had seen. She did not know why she was so excited about it, but Princess Cassandra was thrilled.
But soon her eyes looked down. She kept the pages back in place as her fingers tapped on the desk.
"How should I tell Ed?" Cassandra murmured in a daze but soon a husky voice replied from behind.
"What is the fifth Princess struggling to tell me?"
