Chapter 181: Side Story 1- Future

Princess Cassandra was smiling as she walked towards the forest. This was her last day here.

"Amy.." Princess Cassandra said as she stopped at a place. There was nothing there, only even land filled with earth. The fifth Princess sat down as she touched the flowers.

"I am getting married tomorrow... I know, it feels unreal too. But I miss you a lot." Princess Cassandra’s eyes were no longer sad. She had come to terms that Amy was no more there and yet she was, in Cassandra’s memories.

"So I will be wearing your hairpins. You know some of the maids complained that I should not be wearing it on my wedding day as I always use it occasionally, but I only have it that belongs to you. I cannot just look past it. I want you to be a part of my wedding too. And Aiden thinks the same."

Princess Cassandra smiled as she moved her hands and the elements came out.

The fifth Tigers stood there in front of her. Some of them sat and others walked around.

"Why did you call us now when you were talking to someone else?" The land element said.

"I called you here for a reason." Princess Cassandra blinked, "I want to release you all."

"Release us?" The tigers said as their ears perked up. Their gaze was filled with confusion. "Why?"

Princess Cassandra was silent. She looked around as she refused to answer for a few seconds. It looked as if she was thinking her thoughts through before wording them.

"Because I am letting things go." Princes Cassandra smiled. "You have helped me a lot and I have realized that I cannot keep things piled up in life and in my mind."

Princess Cassandra continued, "I know you all are elements but I do not want to keep you in my space, trapped. Why don’t you go around and roam, stay where you want."

"So you are abandoning us?" The water element said. "We never interfere with your daily life, then Why?"

"Because I feel like you were trapped. And I do not want to trap something in me. I am not abandoning you., you are a part of me and if you ever feel, you can come back and live in the space comfortably, but I am giving you permission. Whether to stay or go will be your free will."

"Free will? The fire element said, "Who told you that?"

"Yes, who did?" The wind element’s eyes narrowed.

Princess Cassandra touched the ground softly, "I will be honest, It was the darkness." Every element focused on the darkness element, "But you should not blame him. I asked for his opinion."

The darkness element looked down but it did not talk. Everything that had happened was due to him, but now he regretted it. And yet the darkness element wanted to help.

"You should tell your view if you want them to understand." The fifth Princess said as she looked at the darkness element. "They are your friends. They will support your decision."

The darkness element looked down. His tail was down and the tiger was in despair.

The darkness element looked around as he saw everyone looking at him waiting for an answer. No matter what happened centuries before, the other elements did not hold a grudge against him, and the darkness element was grateful for that.

"I want to search my people." The darkness said in a small voice. "Because of my mistake, all of my people are dead. Only a few are alive. When I heard Achard was about to go and search for the ones who had survived, who have other elements mixed with darkness, I wanted to find them as well."

The darkness element looked down but soon his eyes showed a determination. A determination to tell his view. "So I wanted to search. I am the one who can sense them. Achard alone will not be able to find them but with my help .. but .."

"But Princess Cassandra cannot release only one element. She has to release it all." The earth element said. "But if she gives her permission we can move in her space at will."

The darkness nodded. "So please let her release us and then you all can move into her space again, leaving me behind. I would like to travel to search for people. They might be afraid and alone. It is my responsibility."

The other four elements could see the pain the darkness was in. They could feel the sadness he was in. All of their people were living, and only the people who had darkness were dead. The other elements felt responsible as well. They all had made some silly mistakes in the past that had come to haunt them. Now that they had a chance to rectify that mistake, the elements decided to take it.

"We all should go." The elements said in unison. "We can also help."

The darkness element looked up in confusion. He never felt like they would come forward to help him and yet they were ready to extend their help.

"The people will have another element from one of us. We can feel it and help." The fire element said.

"So should I release you." Princess Cassandra was smiling as she interrupted. "You all should decrease your size otherwise Lord Bentham would be afraid. Or I should say that others will be afraid of the Lord."

The elements in tiger form looked at one another as they nodded. They closed their eyes as they reduced their size and soon became small kittens.

"Just like before." Princess Cassandra murmured. "Okay, so let’s start."

The five small kittens nodded but they soon said in union. "But we want to leave your essence in you."

Princess Cassandra blinked as she looked at them in confusion. Maybe the elements saw the confusion in the eyes of the fifth Princess.

"We can still communicate." The elements explained. "You will be able to use all of our powers as the crystals are filled with it. You can ask us anything only by touching a crystal and we can communicate. If you are in danger we will return to the space automatically."

Princess Cassandra nodded her head. She could only hope that she does not get entangled in any danger after this. Princess Cassandra also knew that Duke Salvador would never let anyone harm her.

Princess Cassandra’s lips curled up. She focused as slowly the bond that connected her with the element loosened. When the bond broke a few strands remained in her space as everything else returned to the elements.

Princess Cassandra’s breathing increased. It was an energy consuming thing. No matter how much stronger she had grown there was still a limit to it.

Maybe Princess Cassandra was a little weak physically but she had started working out now. She knew that physical strength was equally important as mental strength.

The elements in the form of kittens moved around as they played with the butterflies. They roamed around the flower garden as they looked up in the sky. They were free now, but they still had a mission.

Princess Cassandra looked at them. Sometimes she forgets that they were elements. When they took a form, they behaved like them. Maybe that is why they were the origin.

Princess Cassandra slept on the ground as she looked up at the sky. The white clouds were moving in the blue sky. Their small movement looked like a dream to her.

A small butterfly flew in front of her eyes. It has red and blue wings, looking breathtaking against the cloud background.

Princess Cassandra extended her hand as she tried touching it but she could not. The butterfly moved around but it was not afraid of her. It moved around Cassandra’s finder before it sat on it.

Princess Cassandra smiled. Her eyes were glowing as she observed the butterfly’s wings.

’So beautiful.’ Princess Cassandra thought as she looked further. Its red winds made her remember Duke Salvador’s red eyes.

His gaze was also red. But they changed shades according to the Duke’s mood. They were blood-red when he was happy and turned to a darker shade when he was angry.

’Maybe I will see more of his shades in the future.’

Princess Cassandra was engulfed in her thoughts as the elements settled down at her side.

"It is not just your last day here." The elements said in unison. "It’s our last day with you too."

Princess Cassandra moved as she looked at the elements. With a slight movement, the butterfly moved up.

"So we should enjoy this day." Princess Cassandra smiled, but the elements did not get up at all, "Or we can just be lazy on the ground."

The kittens got comfortable as they closed their eyes. Princess Cassandra observed them all, as she closed her eyes as well.

’Yes, it is our last day for now but we will meet again in the future.’

’Uff, I am getting married tomorrow.’

’Can I really manage to be a Duchess?’
