Chapter 156: Unbelievable

Princess Valeria was getting excited.

Her emotions were visible on her face as a smile graced her face. The first Princess could see the mountains and fresh air when she looked outside from the carriage. Something very different from the Elvira Empire.

"Isn’t it beautiful here?" Princess Valeria said as she looked at the secretary.

"It truly is." The secretary replied with a smile. His eyes glowing as if he was truly happy being in the Vivere Kingdom.

"I never knew that the secretary was such a nature lover." Princess Valeria giggled as she said. "It looks like you truly loved this place."

"I loved the place for sure." The secretary said. Even though the words have a completely different meaning, in Princess Valeria’s ears it sounded like he was enjoying nature.

"If the secretary loved the place then we could conquer it." Princess Valeria’s eyes glowed. "I can at least do it for you. After all, I would be able to claim the throne because of you."

The secretary was stunned as he did not reply for a long time. His eyes blurred as he asked in a whisper. "You want to conquer the Vivere Kingdom?"

Princess Valeria’s lips were curled up as she blinked innocently. "Why? Is it not possible?"

The secretary did not reply. He waited for a very long time. He wanted to mock the first Princess. How could she think that it was so easy to conquer the whole Kingdom.

The Elvira Empire and the Vivere Kingdom had many wars in the past and it was always regarding the boundaries. Although there were no winning sides in them, only many lives were lost.

’So the first Princess doesn’t understand anything.’

’To fight with the Vivere Kingdom whose power even your father does not know.’

’How powerful do you think you will be?’

’The only reason the Elvira Empire is not destroyed is that we need a person to wake the Elvira up.’

’And yet you misunderstand the situation.’

The secretary looked out but something caught his eyes. "Wait, isn’t it the messenger person?" He murmured as he said the guard walking beside the carriage stop. "Stop and tell the third Prince that there is a messenger pigeon."

The guard obeyed the instructions instantly as he walked towards the third Prince. While Princess Valeria looked at the secretary with a questionable gaze. "Why are you so eager?"

The secretary smiled as he said. "It is a messenger bird from the Emperor himself."

The first Princess shook her head. "What does it matter. It should be a daily report. Why are you eager?"

The secretary tried to explain the situation to the first Princess who was as clueless as a hen who was about to be eaten.

"The daily report is sent by another messenger bird. The bird is from the Emperor himself. It must be important.

The first Princess simply shrugged her shoulders as she waited for her brother to come near her. Her eyes still looked at the Duke who followed the third Prince.

"It’s a letter from the Emperor?" The secretary said in a soft tone. His eyes were glowing as he waited for the third Prince to give an explanation.

The third Prince smiled as he nodded his head. He looked at his sister who looked least interested. Her eyes only focused on Duke Salvador, as if no one else existed.

The third Prince shook his head as he looked down at the letter in his hand. He opened it as he read the words.

[The Empress had passed away.]

It was a simple message but it brought gasps from the surrounding. The third Prince’s fingers shook as he finished speaking.

He could not say that he was extremely close to his mother but she was still his mother. When from a very young age, he could be given hard training, the Empress would always be there. When he was given poison to build resistance, his mother even called a doctor to know the symptoms.

There were times when the Empress had murdered people just to make his line to the throne clear. Although the third Prince never appreciated it, but it was still done and he became the Crown Prince.

The eyes of the third Prince were filled with tears that could not fall. He tried controlling his shaking voice as he swallowed hard.

Prince Cedric could feel his heart beating fastening. His breaths were getting unsteady as he tried his best to look normal. He looked up but the situation shocked him.

Prince Cedric could not believe what he was seeing. His very own sister was there emotionless. Their own mother had died. The same mother that had tortured many Princess’s just to make Valeria feel better and yet she sat there as if it was some news in the passing.

The third Prince controlled his anger as he looked at the first Princess. His voice turned harsh as he said "We have lost our mother."

"Yes, I know." Princess Valeria said as she looked at her brother as if she didn’t understand why he would say the words again.

"Valeria, should we go back?" The third Prince said softly as he sighed. He knew that it was useless to have any logical discussion with his sister but he still tried. "Father would need us."

"Need us?" Princess Valeria raised her eyes as she continued. "He has many concubines and other Princes and Princesses that could support him. And anyway, they would have buried her long ago. We are so far away. Even if we return now we would not be able to see her face so what is the use?"

The third Prince clenched his hand. His eyes sharpened as he shouted. "SHE IS OUR MOTHER VALERIA. NOT ANYONE ELSE BUT OUR. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHAT SHE HAD DONE FOR US?"

"No." Princess Valeria shook her eyes. "I have not forgotten what she had done for us. How can I? But I am here for something and I would not leave unless I get it."

Prince Cedric laughed sarcastically. "So your mother’s death is not important to you? Is your little vacation so important to you?"

"Yes," Princess Valeria said. "Because it will make my mother’s wishes come true. You know that our mother wanted to make one of us be the next Emperor and the Vivere Kingdom holds the key to it."

"WHAT KEY?" the third Prince shouted as he walked towards the first Princess and shook her in rage. He could not believe that his sister tried to justify her actions with a sentence that it was what their mother wanted. "YOU ARE THE FUTURE HEIR. HAVEN’T YOU PROVEN THAT YOU CAN CONTROL ALL THE FOUR ELEMENTS? OR WAS IT ALL AN ACT?"

Princess Valeria’s eyes widened. She could not believe what she had said. She looked past the third Prince only to see that Duke Salvador was looking at her with an uncommon eye.

’Is he afraid that I am emotionless?’

’Will we be torn apart if I did not show my emotional side?’

’We have been so close now, I do not want something like this to tear us apart.’

Princess Valeria moved her hand and a large wave of wind pushed the third Prince away from her. Valeria moved her fingers in the process as tears formed in her eyes.

"How can you say that?" Princess Valeria’s tears fell down as her voice shook. "Just because I am trying to control myself you are saying this? I have lost my mother too ... A mother who loved me .."

Princess Valeria looked down as she rubbed the tears away from her eyes. "But do you know I am here because mother wanted me to be? She was not feeling well and she had asked me to go away. She didn’t want me to see her situation."

"Mother was unwell?" The third Prince asked as he raised his eyebrows. He had seen his mother before he left and he was sure she was all well.

’She is lying.’

’She does not care at all.’

Prince Cedric thought as he took a deep breath.

"Yes, Mother told me that even if we know that something had happened to her we should not come back." Princess Valeria said with a shivering tone. Her voice was tinged with sadness as she rubbed her nose and eyes from time to time.

"So you want us to continue?" Prince Cedric asked as his nails buried in his skin. He was trying to control his rage.

Princess Valeria swallowed and said with a soft tone. The sadness was dripping down her face. "Only for mother." Princess Valeria nodded her head. But soon she looked up. "But if you want then you can go back .."

Before Princess Valeria could finish the words Prince Cedric cut her off. "I will stay with you here. How can I leave my dear sister here in an enemy Kingdom."

Princess Valeria nodded as she said in a whisper. "Then we should hurry."

Prince Cedric observed the first prince before he turned around in rage. "Unbelievable."
