Car-hailing Driver: Rewards from Complaints-Chapter 101 - 99: Today We Have to Throw Down to Settle This
Originally, Yuan Xiaozao wanted to invite Yang Chen to watch a movie, but after a tiring day, Yang Chen was feeling sleepy, so he refused.
Soon, Yang Chen dropped Yuan Xiaozao at the entrance of the residential area.
Yuan Xiaozao wanted to invite him up for a drink of water, but he refused again.
Watching Yang Chen zoom away in a Bugatti, Yuan Xiaozao stood there, not leaving for a long time.
She wondered, does such a handsome and wealthy guy have a girlfriend?
Even if he doesn’t have a girlfriend, there must be many girls who like him...
Since lots of people travel on weekends, Yang Chen got up early to start driving.
Given his current wealth, he didn’t expect to earn money from ride-hailing.
But he still had to drive more because only by striving for more positive reviews would he not worry about low ratings affecting his overall score and limiting his ability to take orders.
Someday when he makes it big, he’ll buy Bibi, demand bad reviews every day to hack the system, huh!
Nearing 8:30, Yang Chen received an order for the high-speed rail station.
Yang Chen arrived at the residential complex where the passenger was located and called the passenger.
First time, no answer.
Second time, no answer again.
Yang Chen had to wait three more minutes before calling again, and finally, it went through.
Yang Chen asked, "Hello, Bibi Taxi. I’ve been waiting at your located residential entrance for almost five minutes already, where are you?"
Passenger: "Coming, coming, soon, wait a bit longer."
Yang Chen: "Alright. I’ll wait another five minutes for you then."
Having driven long enough, Yang Chen became numb to passengers who had no sense of time.
If he really nitpicked these things, he’d spend every day in anger.
Normally, when a passenger says they’re coming, it usually takes at least five minutes, sometimes ten for those who dawdle.
But this passenger was even more spectacular, making Yang Chen wait a full 15 minutes before arriving.
Honestly, only drivers like Yang Chen who don’t rely on ride-hailing for a living can bear this. Anyone else who depended on it would’ve canceled the order and left.
A man and a woman, presumably a couple.
The woman carried a small backpack, and the man had a moderately-sized suitcase.
Yang Chen opened the trunk, waiting for them to put their stuff in and get in.
But!
The man didn’t put the suitcase into the trunk; he placed it on the roadside and got in the car with his wife.
As soon as the male passenger got in, he commanded, "Driver, go put the suitcase in the trunk for me."
Yang Chen was stunned, quickly asking, "Why didn’t you just put it in earlier? The trunk was already open."
Male passenger replied, "I can’t lift it, you go do it."
Yang Chen, looking perplexed, replied, "Brother, if you can’t lift it, how do you know I certainly can? If you couldn’t lift it, you could’ve just told me, I’d help you lift it together. You putting it down and ordering me to put it in—that’s not really appropriate, right?"
Female passenger responded, "What’s inappropriate about it? Aren’t you here to serve passengers? What’s wrong with asking you to put the suitcase in?"
Yang Chen: "I’m here to serve passengers, but my responsibility is to transport them from the starting point to the destination. I technically don’t need to provide additional services. If the suitcase is heavy and can’t be lifted, just say the word, and we’ll lift it together. But you can’t lift it and then order me to do it—how do you know I can lift it by myself?"
Male passenger: "I’m a company’s deputy manager, and you’re telling me to lift a suitcase?"
Yang Chen laughed, a helpless laughter indeed.
"Brother, I’m kind of confused here. You’re the deputy manager, but what’s that got to do with placing a suitcase? Your stuff, you should be the one to put it in. If you can’t lift it, just ask me for help, but coming in and commanding—that’s not right," Yang Chen replied.
Female passenger: "We’re in a hurry! You spent time talking about it, could’ve been done by now!"
If it was when Yang Chen first became a ride-hailing driver, he certainly wouldn’t have picked up passengers like these.
But after doing it for a while, seeing all sorts of odd behaviors, he’s increased his patience.
Yang Chen undid his seatbelt, got out to pick up the suitcase, and put it in the trunk.
Yang Chen got back in the car, buckling his seatbelt, "Brother, that suitcase was at most 10 kilograms, and you said you couldn’t lift it?"
Male passenger: "I said, I’m a company’s deputy manager, there’s no reason for me to do dirty and tiring work."
Impressive!
Yang Chen didn’t want to waste words with this idiot, so he quickly started the car toward the railway station.
But crossing districts to reach the rail station takes quite some time.
Just five minutes after starting to drive, the two passengers began chattering noisily.
Female passenger: "Driver, how much longer will it take to get there?"
Yang Chen: "According to navigation, it’ll take about 45 more minutes."
Male passenger: "That’s too long! Our train leaves in 40 minutes, you must get us there in 30 minutes, leaving us around 10 minutes to go through the ticket check and board."
Yang Chen: "I’ll try my best to be fast, but I can’t guarantee it’ll be within 30 minutes."
At that moment, the light ahead turned yellow, so Yang Chen slowed down and waited.
Male passenger: "Hey, why have you stopped? Just go through it!"
Yang Chen: "Brother, it’s a red light!"
Male passenger: "It was a yellow light! Just floor it and go through!"
Yang Chen: "There’s a car in the waiting area, if I floor it I wouldn’t get through halfway, what if I end up stuck in the middle?"
Male passenger: "Then just run the red light! I’m in a hurry!"
Yang Chen: "Are you joking with me? How can I intentionally run a red light?"
Male passenger: "If you’re driving and don’t dare to run a red light, why are you driving?"
Yang Chen turned back to glance at him, genuinely wondering how this person managed to grow up.
Green light, go.
Yang Chen intentionally picked up speed, but quickly encountered another red light.
Male passenger: "Why’d you stop again? Just run through, I’m in a hurry! My high-speed train ticket cost over a thousand bucks. If we miss the train, are you going to pay?"
Yang Chen: "I waited 19 minutes for you at your residential gate, if you had any sense of time you’d have no issues arriving at the station. You dawdle at home, then shout for me to run red lights. You may not value life, but I do."
Female passenger: "What kind of talk is that? Is that your attitude in service?"
Yang Chen: "Is my service attitude not good enough? If it was any other driver today, they would’ve canceled your order early on. If not that, they would’ve kicked you out when you acted all high and mighty about the suitcase. Do you not realize how annoying your behavior is?"
Green light, go.
Male passenger: "Just ignore him, catching the train is important. Later, when we get there, give him a bad review and complain about his poor attitude."
Shortly ahead, there’s a district-crossing toll station.
As the cars ahead slowed down, Yang Chen followed suit.
Female passenger: "What are you doing? Are you doing it on purpose? Why slow down? If you can’t drive, let him drive, okay?"
Male passenger: "Yeah! If you can’t drive, get out and let me drive!"
Yang Chen: "Are you joking? How could I possibly let you drive? Who would be liable if something happened? You can’t see the toll station ahead?"
Male passenger: "Isn’t there a gap? Just squeeze in! How do you not get that?"
Yang Chen: "That’s the special ETC lane; if I cut in, I’ll be jumping ahead of others!"
Male passenger: "What’s wrong with jumping ahead? I’ve seen plenty of people squeezing into the ETC lane on Douyin! You’re purposely delaying our time! If we miss the train, you owe us compensation! I’ve never seen such a timid and cowardly driver like you!"
"Damn!" Yang Chen cursed, pulling over immediately.
"Damn! Today’s rage is getting out of hand! We need to settle this! Get out! Quick!" Yang Chen roared in anger, unbuckling his seatbelt and storming out of the car.
Yang Chen went to the backseat, opening the car door and dragged the male passenger’s arm to pull him out.
Seeing the situation turn bad, the male passenger grips the front seat tightly with his other arm, refusing to let go. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
The female passenger hurriedly got out from the other side and ran toward the toll station shouting, "Help! Murder! Help! Bibi driver is killing someone!"
It just so happened that there were police officers on duty at the toll station.
Upon hearing the female passenger’s cries, the officers and toll station staff quickly rushed over, sprinting like they were in a race.
