The doctor slowly approached, "Seven shallow cuts, four that required suturing and some bruising." He listed out.
He didn’t know the male Omega’s relationship with Mafia King Nikolai, but he wouldn’t be living with Nikolai if he were someone dangerous.
Angelo did also have some bruising on his back, he had been made painfully aware of it in the shower. The doctor cautiously checked him for head trauma.
He mentioned the headache he had, cooperating fully with the jumpy doctor.
"Your vitals are all fine. If the headache returns or even if you feel slightly dizzy, simply place a call... or g-go to the hospital." He explained, backing away rapidly.
"It will also be beneficial to have someone check on you while you sleep, if complications arise, you might have difficulty waking..."
"I’ll just set an alarm at intervals," Angelo said dismissively.
Normally, he would have told the doctor not to worry because he wouldn’t be able to sleep but even as he sat on the couch, dressed in his hoodie and comfortable pants, he was already tired.
Angelo intended to go right to bed after dinner, he had worked hard enough to deserve all of the sleep he planned to get.
"I’ll keep an eye on him," Nikolai joined the conversation, he had changed clothes, covering up his bandages.
Angelo couldn’t say how long the Mafia King had been standing at the door, and how much he had heard.
The doctor simply bowed slightly and made himself scarce, ducking out the door like a knife had been thrown at him.
"What do you want to eat for dinner?" Nikolai asked as he walked over.
Angelo stifled a yawn, shivering slightly. It was cold and his hair was still damp but even though the doctor was gone, he made no move to go properly dry it.
"How about some Chinese food?" He made a genuine suggestion.
Nikolai was already making the order, joining him on his couch.
Angelo was the one to inch closer, although there was really no chance of Nikolai warming him up, his scent kind of warmed him up from within.
Tension bled out of Nikolai’s shoulders as Angelo’s damp head rested against him— he hadn’t even known he was tense.
"If you don’t dry your hair, you’ll catch a cold." He lightly scolded, increasing the temperature of the room even as he said that.
He also turned the television on, the channel remaining unchanged since the last time they watched shows.
Angelo didn’t move an inch, his eyes felt heavy and even food didn’t seem as important as sleep right then. He felt so peaceful although there was nothing special going on.
The near-death experiences he had just had felt like they never happened, even the chill he previously felt had been replaced with a cozy warmth... He was really fighting a losing battle against sleep.
Nikolai watched him closely from the side, envious. Angelo seemed to be having a great time, the assassin was even dozing off, curled up like a cat next to him.
Nikolai glanced at the screen, his eyes dead. Without Angelo watching with him, the cartoons with chiming tones held no interest for him.
He refocused on Angelo to find the assassin fast asleep. He never thought he would be jealous of someone else’s sleeping, the assassin looked perfectly content, sleeping without a care in the world.
There was a knock on the door then, startling Angelo awake. He straightened up with a yawn, taking his warmth and the scent of cherries away as he rose to his feet.
"Is that our dinner?" He asked rhetorically as he headed to the door. "I’m starving."
Nikolai watched him like he always did, Angelo’s eyes sparkled as he pushed the tray in, most of the sleepiness gone from them.
"There’s so much food here," He commented as he brought the tray over, anticipation written all over his face as the covers went off the dishes.
A complex savory aroma filled the living room, adding more warmth. Angelo was already reaching for a bowl of noodles in broth, his stomach rumbling faintly as he did.

Jael didn’t take a cab back to the mansion, he went to one of the clubs instead and got a car to drive himself home.
It was dark and cold, clouds rolling in like it would rain later that night. He was in a hurry not because of all that, but because Caspian would be upset if he was late for dinner.
He was in a particularly good mood as he stepped on the gas, humming a discordant tune under his breath.
Jael needed to clear his head, that was why he had gone for a drive, but he had also done it to ditch lunch. Rosie would be gone by now, and he could eat his dinner in peace without consequences.
He drove through the gates and parked, tossing the keys to one of the men before starting up the stairs. He was a bit messy from his drive so he would take a shower before going to the dining room.
He pulled on a sweater and comfortable pants before making his way over to the dining room, he had made it in time too, so he opened the door and strode in in high spirits.
Caspian wasn’t even at the table yet but everyone else was, even Patty had made herself comfortable, readying to eat.
Jael paused at the door, wondering if he still had enough time to duck out of the door and spend the rest of the night outside the mansion.
"Oh, Jael! You’re back!" Caspian’s cheery voice came from behind him. The Omega was in an oversized sweater, his phone in hand.
"I was just about to call you, I was worried you’d miss dinner." Caspian went on, patting his arm. "We were waiting for you."
Jael closed the door and then followed after Caspian to take a seat, maybe some consequence wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
As soon as his ass touched his seat, a jeweled gun popped in front of him. Rosie’s expression was deadpan as she held him at gunpoint, "Pay up."
Jael really didn’t want to find out if Rosie’s gun had bullets, meekly giving her one of the servings that was meant to go to him.
No one batted at eye at this obvious bullying, Caspian only interjecting after Rosie got what she wanted. "No weapons at the table, please."
Rosie dutifully got up to go stash her gun somewhere, before returning to gleefully eat the extra food she had gotten. What Jael didn’t know was that she intended to hold this over his head for as long as she could, next time, he would think about it a couple times before snatching her food.
After dinner, she still had to leave for her place and despite being held at gunpoint, Jael had offered to drive her home.
"Where did you run off to in the afternoon?" Rosie poked her nose as soon as they drove out the gates.
Jael glanced over at her, "Why? Want to tag along next time?"
Rosie narrowed her eyes at him, Jael seemed like the responsible one, but he got mischievous every now and then.
"That depends," She dragged out the word, "Where did you go?"
"On a drive, helps me relax."
Rosie instantly thought of the borderline dangerous way Jael drove and instantly backed off. "I’ll pass."
Jael could guess the direction her thoughts took, chuckling. "What if I let you drive?"
Rosie made a face of disapproval, "No, go on your relaxing drives alone." She ruthlessly turned him down.
"It’s about to rain," Jael reminded her calmly, cruising down the road. "You might want to rethink that."
Rosie was expressionless as she side-eyed him. She had almost started to feel guilty about her plans to keep snatching food from Jael, but now, all of that had gone out the window.
"We don’t need to go to work tomorrow, I’ll pick you up after lunch. Bring your gun." Jael went on.
Rosie’s cheeks puffed out in anger, "Oh I’ll bring my gun alright." She grumbled under her breath, noticing the strangeness of Jael’s request after a few beats.
"Wait, why do I need to bring a gun?" She shot him a suspicious look.
"As a precaution. I only go on relaxing drives downtown."
Rosie really wanted to dropkick Jael through the window right then but she didn’t even know how to perform the maneuver, much less how she would manage that in such a cramped space.
She already had plans for the next day, she would take a long relaxing scented bath and maybe go shopping. She also had a new season of her favorite show waiting for her.
She absolutely didn’t want to go on a potentially dangerous drive that would need her to have a gun with her. But she knew that Jael meant what he said about coming to pick her up.
"Don’t you want to practice your new skills?" Jael kept speaking, his voice half taunting, half amused.
"Don’t tempt me." Rosie grumbled, impatient for the ride to come to an end before Jael made another ridiculous arrangement just to piss her off.
