Captive Mate BL-Chapter 495: + - +
Chapter 495: +Chapter 495+
Angelo had no choice but to follow after Nikolai, palming a throwing knife. Close range weapons weren’t the best for gang fights like this, maybe he should consider practicing with guns so he would have options.
The doors of the warehouse were large and made of metal. The metal was partly rusted and one of the doors was barely hanging on to its hinges, it was also completely wide open.
"Maybe we should check for a back door..." Angelo murmured, speaking more to himself.
Nikolai was already on the move, striding right through the suspiciously open doors. Brazen and reckless despite his cold exterior.
Angelo pushed a hand through his hair, he had no regard for his well-being but Nikolai was somehow worse. At least, he would have scouted the area first, and not just walk right through the front door, guns blazing.
"Are you coming?" Nikolai’s voice came from the dark interior.
Angelo pushed himself to start up the stairs, there were no visible windows in the warehouse, and the cool light from the doors barely provided any illumination.
He walked up to the outline of Nikolai’s figure, "What’s happening?" He asked in hushed tones, scanning around the interior of building.
He couldn’t see a single thing, there was a high chance they were already completely surrounded.
"It’s empty," Nikolai’s low response came, he sounded closer than Angelo had been expecting.
Angelo frowned, that wasn’t right. His alarms were blaring now, something was most definitely wrong.
"There’s a hatch door," Nikolai’s voice came again, this time the Mafia King was far away, Angelo hadn’t seen or heard him move.
"You can see?" Angelo muttered in disbelief, his words more of a statement than a question.
"Spent most of my childhood in a metal box," Nikolai’s amused voice came right next to his ear, making him flinch.
Angelo had a difficult time processing the Mafia King’s words because he walked right into him then, nearly cracking Nikolai’s jaw open with his head.
There still wasn’t any time to properly mull over what Nikolai had just said because the Mafia King was making another reckless move.
"We’re going down the hatch." Nikolai went on calmly. freewebnøvel.com
Angelo said nothing when he felt his wrist being held, Nikolai was the only one who could see and he would rather not lose him. Besides, he had bigger issues to worry about.
"You don’t know what’s down there," He half-scolded.
Angelo couldn’t see Nikolai but he could hear the smile in the voice.
"We’re about to find out."
Angelo couldn’t help but think that he wasn’t suicidal enough, Nikolai clearly surpassed him in that area. He sighed under his breath as he heard the quiet creak of the hatch opening, dying with Nikolai didn’t sound so bad.
Yellow light spilled out from the open hatch door, casting shadows on the spiral stone stairs that led down into what seemed like an underground bunker.
"What’s going on up there, Fletch?" A voice came from somewhere in the underground room, the owner of the voice out of sight.
Angelo glanced at Nikolai who hadn’t let go of his wrist although he could see now. He could bet that the person they were referring to was bleeding out on the broken pavement outside.
Nikolai took the first step down the stairs, going down deeper with every measured step he took, Angelo sticking close to his side.
There was a rustle from somewhere in the room. "Fletch?" The voice came again, apprehension in his voice this time, cautious footsteps approaching.
As soon as they got to a part of the spiral staircase that gave them a better view of the room, the knife was flying out of Angelo’s hand and embedding itself in the henchman’s throat.
He dropped to his knees with quiet gargles, hands around his throat as he tried to pull the knife out. Blood staining his hands and face.
After making sure there was no one else in the room, Nikolai leisurely walked down the rest of the stairs, walking right for the first door closest to him.
Angelo had resigned himself to Nikolai’s dangerous habit of striding headfirst into danger, scanning the room quickly even as he heard muffled gunshots going off.
The room with the stone staircase was empty save for a couple tables with ratty files on them, the few wooden chairs were rickety and had seen a lot of use.
It looked like it was solely used as an entrance down to the bunkers underneath the warehouse, nothing more. There was another door in the room but it was closed, just like the one in front of them had been.
Angelo went easily when Nikolai pulled him up against him and ducked to the side to avoid the bullets coming at them. He hadn’t even gotten the chance to get a good look at what was behind the door before the bullets started flying.
There also went all of his intention to be stealthy— just his, because Nikolai clearly didn’t give a shit about that. The gunshots made his ears ring in the underground space, it had no doubt alerted the entire drug ring to their presence.
With Nikolai no longer standing in front of the door, henchmen started spilling out to finish what had been started. But coming through the door meant that they could only come out one at a time.
Angelo whipped around in Nikolai’s hold and kicked the gun out of the first person to charge out the door, a bullet taking him down, as well as the next person.
When three people that had rushed out in succession were stopped at the door, dead bodies piling , the rest left in the room were wary of following.
Nikolai didn’t give them a chance to make a choice about when they would die, ducking into the room with two guns drawn, clearing out the room.
Angelo stepped in when the shooting went quiet, getting a chance to scan the room because Nikolai paused to reload his gun, the clicks sounding loud in the quiet room.
The room was bigger than the connecting room with the staircase, several long tables arranged in rows. Against the damp walls were sacks and boxes, it looked to be one of the places where drugs were packed into smaller quantities for retail sale.
