Chapter 490: +Chapter 490+

Rosie made sure to clear out her schedule for the weekend. Especially after the run in with masked attackers at the last event, she wasn’t so eager to go to another while she was yet to learn how to use a firearm.

She woke up bright and early and just drove down to Asher’s mansion, not bothering with breakfast because she knew that Caspian would feed her. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Rosie was just as familiar a face as Lake and Davian so she was easily let in, making her way into the foyer without waiting to be taken in. She had been speaking to Patty so she knew her friend should already be at the mansion.

She knew why Patty didn’t live at the mansion so she never brought it up, although she knew that Caspian must have offered.

Patty was walking down the hallway when she got to the top of the stairs, a sweet smile on her face as she made her way over, her dark hair in her signature high ponytail.

"You’re here pretty early," Patty noted with a smile, leading the way to the kitchen. She stayed in the side office there almost all of the time.

"I told you when I left my apartment," Rosie reminded, she was dressed in casual clothes, wearing low-slung jeans and a loose knit cardigan.

"I figured you were full of hot air." Patty snickered behind perfectly manicured nails, wearing a sundress.

Rosie shot her a look, unimpressed by her timid friend’s teasing. "I hope you already got your gun."

Patty’s laughter faded at that, a very worried look on her face. "Caspian said he already handled it."

Rosie nodded in approval, knowing that she could trust Caspian with that. She said hi to the head chefs as she made her way to the kitchen study, getting comfortable on a chair.

"I asked Jael to come along," Rosie announced, calm for all her chaotic words. She hadn’t wanted to tell Patty through the phone and risk her friend ditching.

It was better said in person, so if Patty tried to make a run for it, she could grab her.

Patty’s brows wrinkled, "But Keith and Peter are already coming along."

Rosie approved of this, "The more the better, I’d hate to put you and Caspian in danger." She said honestly.

Patty had already been told of what happened the day before, so she understood, reluctantly resigning herself to the inevitable.

"I understand," She murmured, rising to her feet with a burst of energy. "Is there something you want to eat? I’ll have the kitchen make it for you."

Rosie already had a list, not bothering to be demure about her demands, she came here early specifically because she wanted eat after all.

The door to the dining room was gingerly opened while she dug into the tasty food, making her pause. Rosie was all alone in the dining room because Patty needed to do some accounting and then they would leave for the shooting range.

Jael poked his head in as if he was making sure she was all alone, lazily strolling in. "I was told I’d find you in here."

Rosie resumed eating, thinking nothing more of Jael’s presence, only to scowl when the Beta sat right next to her and helped himself to her food.

She snatched the plate right out of his grubby hands, "If you want some, go get from the kitchens." She said bluntly, shooing him off.

Jael looked reluctant, like she was asking too much of him, slowly rising to his feet.

Rosie couldn’t react in time, before she could process it, Jael was already at the door with the plate she had just rescued from his greedy self.

"Jael!" She yelled out, her voice seasoned with betrayal. "You’re so fucking lucky I don’t know how to use a gun!"

Her threats seemed to roll right off his back because he didn’t return, no doubt going to the kitchen to greedily eat more.

"Jael stole my food," She immediately reported to Patty as soon as her friend returned. The dining table had been cleared out, and Jael was yet to return.

Patty had a slight smile on her face, "I can get you more."

Rosie pouted, cheeks plump. Patty didn’t get it, it wasn’t about getting more, it was about getting revenge.

"More what?" Caspian’s sweet voice joined the conversation. The Omega was dressed in shades of soft pink, a matching pink hair clip in his hair.

"More food for Rosie," Patty answered.

Caspian beamed, "You want more food? Let’s go get you more from the kitchen."

Rosie had to speak up for herself then, "I’ll eat more when we get back," She grumbled, scheming ways to get back at Jael.

"Is Asher fine with you going down to a gun range?" Rosie changed the topic as they headed out of the dining room.

"He is, he even gave me his gun." Caspian held out his cute bag to show off the intimidating weapons nestled in the white interior.

Rosie was pleasantly surprised, "That’s sweet," She complimented dryly, thinking now that she should have seen that coming.

Davian who probably woke in in cold sweats at the mere thought of Lake in danger had given her pregnant boss a couple of guns, it was clearly a Mafia King thing.

"Jael is also coming along," She made sure to mention to Caspian as they went down the stairs, not sure if he had told Caspian about it yet.

"Really?" Caspian asked with a hint of disbelief, "How did you convince him?"

Rosie would have gone into a bit more detail if she wasn’t currently pissed off at Jael. She clenched a fist, a tote bag slung over her shoulder. "He owes me," She said instead through gritted teeth.

Neither Caspian nor Patty missed the dangerous threat in Rosie’s tone, the two of them saying a silent prayer on Jael’s behalf.

Peter and Keith were outside the mansion with Jael, the seating arrangements were already decided. They would be taking two cars, Jael would drive the one they would all be in, and Caspian’s bodyguards would ride with two more of Asher’s men.

Rosie willingly took the passenger seat although she could easily fit in the back with Patty and Caspian, giving Jael the evil eye the entire drive.

The Beta pretended like she was invisible, a slight smile breaking through his intimidating features as drove with a single hand, the wind in his messy hair because Caspian wanted the cool fall breeze in the car.

Rosie glared at the sharp teeth that had eaten her stir-fry, glowering, her pale eyes catching the few rays of light that peeked through the cloudy sky.

They got to the gun range without incident, Asher had a handful of shooting ranges but he wasn’t trying to train his mate to be a killer. If he could help it, he would prefer that Caspian never got to use a gun.

It was why although it would be safer at a gun range that belonged to him, he had them go instead to a casual shooting range, one that people mostly went for the fun of it.

Peter and Keith stayed out of sight just like the other two, leaving Jael to lead the trio into the range. With his gun holsters in plain sight, it looked like he held them all hostage.

Patty kept a wide berth between herself and Jael, and Rosie was still huffy so she stayed back with her friend, leaving Jael and Caspian to handle things.

The curious Omega stood beside Jael at the counter to do the necessary registration, smiling politely at the concerned receptionist.

"...the range provides well serviced guns in great conditions if..."

"Oh, don’t worry," Caspian cut her off, handing her pen back to her. "We brought ours."

The receptionist glanced down at the white and pink bag with bow ties that was held up, impatient to share what just happened on her group chat. It wasn’t everyday she got to see such a strange group of people.

"Just go right in, a trainer will be right with you." The receptionist said in her best customer service voice, a hand already reaching for her phone.

Jael took the lead, pushing open heavy metal doors to scan the interior. There was a lounge past the reception room to the side, but the shooting range itself was behind heavy metal doors and walls, no doubt to deal with the noise pollution.

The shooting range was pleasantly empty, two trainers approaching them. They both appraised Jael and the guns he was toting and figured he wouldn’t be needing their help.

"Come to relax?" The Alpha struck up a conversation.

"Hardly," He muttered dryly, "Just here to keep an eye on them."

Rosie had been in the background this entire time, she stepped forward now, her jeweled gun appearing from thin air. "Let’s get started on this," She said impatiently.

Jael wisely put some distance between them, he had seen Rosie stun a grown man by simply whacking him on the head with her gun.

The Alpha that had spoken to Jael appraised Rosie appreciatively. "Ever shot a gun before?"

"Unfortunately, no."

The Alpha paused for a beat at her words, getting the feeling that her words weren’t quite right. "I’m Ivan, and that’s Jazz, my colleague and we’ll be your trainers for your session."
