Captive Mate BL-Chapter 445: + - +
Chapter 445: +Chapter 445+
"Where is he?" Angelo asked now, taking the mobile tray.
Although the cherubic-faced Omega wore a black and white maid uniform, Angelo could see that there was a cold layer of steel underneath her angelic face. He was an assassin, he could instinctively tell another assassin when he saw them.
"Don’t know, didn’t ask. Eat it all or the boss will break my legs." She said in her deceitfully sweet voice.
Angelo wisely took the tray of food, wondering why Nikolai had the dangerous Omega serve him instead of the bodyguards who seemed to be in charge of that before.
"Are you leaving?" He asked again. What he really wanted to know was where Nikolai was but he hadn’t asked when he had the chance so now he was forced to make small talk.
"Not till you’re done eating," She was kind enough to let him know, "What? You need company too?"
The scowl on her face looked out of place, contrasting with her clear blue eyes and golden curls.
"No." Angelo denied, "You’re not going to ask why I’m here?"
The Omega narrowed her eyes at him, "You’re awfully chatty," She noted, her tone filled with disapproval. "Don’t want to know, don’t care." She said bluntly, turning around and walking off.
Angelo returned to his room now, he was the furthest thing from an extrovert. The Omega’s sudden appearance just made him curious and he would be staying for a week more, it didn’t hurt to familiarize himself with the people around a bit.
He ate quietly, eyeing the stack of pancakes and wondering just how much the cherubic Omega valued her legs. The pancakes had to be put there on purpose, Nikolai really overestimated him by thinking he gave a shit about some stranger’s legs.
Angelo finished the food despite thinking he couldn’t, he had mostly gotten lost in thought, eating mechanically, still not tasting the food.
It was strange to constantly smell the sweet scent on him, licking up the syrup on the corner of his lips. He just placed the tray in the hallway when he was done eating, heading to the bathroom to clean up.
Nikolai had already given him his freedom so the Alpha had no obligation to him, he was no longer going to be dragged to places against his will.
He cleaned up normally, pulling on a clean set of clothes. He hadn’t bothered with washing his hair, leaving it in a loose knot on his head.
Angelo was sore but he was used to pain so it barely stood out, he thought back to last night, noting that there was still no bone-chilling terror or nausea, no craving to claw away his skin, or empty his organs and wash out all the blood and dirt until he was sparkling clean.
He thought back to the Omega that Nikolai had bring his breakfast, although she was dressed in a maid’s outfit, it was clear she wasn’t a maid. If such a sweet-faced Omega was working for Nikolai then why couldn’t he?
He curbed the thought as soon as he had it, his Omega status was a shadow of his past, now he looked nothing like an Omega. He was tall with lean muscle, he could even pass for an Alpha if he wanted to.
Angelo decided not to think too hard about it, he would just take things as they came. He had no expectations to live long, and if he was lucky, his life expectancy would be very short.
He sat on the sofa Nikolai seemed to favor, the one that faced his bed, getting comfortable. He wasn’t sleepy but there was nothing else for him to do either, no wants, no hopes, no goals... maybe the week he asked for was a bad idea.
If he were waiting in between jobs or tracking a person, he could sit without moving for hours, or days even but there was a certain listlessness around him, there was nothing to do.
His pale green eyes traced the lines in the ceiling, staring blankly at the hanging chandelier. He was bored... The realization slammed into him like a ton of bricks, it was a new emotion, he had constantly been in a state of fight or flight, even when his mom was still alive.
But now, he could protect himself and he was in the safest place possible. Unless Nikolai chose to harm him, he would be perfectly fine. He was so bored...
Angelo turned on the sofa until he was staring at the door, resting his back against the arm of the chair, tendrils of his hair slipping past the knot on his head to frame his delicate face.
He wore a patient look as he watched the door, as if he was waiting for someone. His long limbs were curled up, sitting perfectly still.

Nikolai glanced at the camera footage pulled up on his laptop, it had been five hours. Angelo had been sitting and staring at the door for five hours.
He was worried that the encounter last night had fried the assassin’s brain but he also couldn’t help but think about how he looked like a dog patiently waiting for its owner’s return.
It was a Sunday, even his casino saw fewer patrons than usual. He had left his penthouse regardless because he knew he would be unable to do anything else but sit in Angelo’s room.
There was no reason to get further attached to the assassin, he was already doing something out of character by taking it upon himself to hunt down Angelo’s bastard of a father.
Thinking about it made his expression twist into something unsightly, maybe it was because it hit a little close to home, or it was because he respected Angelo. Very few people would be able to hurt him but the assassin had gone right for him the moment he opened the door, if it were anyone else, they would have been dead at the assassin’s feet in minutes.
Not to mention, even fewer people regarded him without fear, even if they respected him, their fear ran deeper. Angelo had been angry at him, hateful, irritated, wary... an array of emotions but never fear.
Maybe it was the assassin’s strange disposition to want to die at every chance he got. But even when he locked Angelo in the ’safe room’ accidentally, held downtown by some disposable trash that wasted his precious time, the assassin was just defeated and exhausted, there was no fear. freewebnøvel.coɱ
It made Nikolai antsy, it made him want to give him a reason to fear him, but the only way to do that was to go to a level he would never stoop to. He wasn’t interested in men sexually, especially not those who were broken beyond repair.
He glanced at the laptop again, Angelo was still sitting and waiting. It made him curse and get to his feet, striding out of his office.
He bumped into Reagan in the parking lot, the Omega was pale with barely banked horror at the sight of him, a splatter of blood on her round face.
"I was just about to head back to your penthouse, boss." She reported without a word from him. "You said I didn’t need to bother with lunch for him."
Nikolai just waved a dismissive hand, "You don’t need to come over anymore, stick to killing." He said with a faint smile, it was clearly a compliment.
Reagan calmed down a bit, some of the color coming back to her face at the boss’ approval. "He ate all of his breakfast," She reported like she had been babysitting a toddler and not a grown man who could easily kill her.
"Good job, Reagan." Nikolai said dryly walking past her, his trench coat swayed, the men behind him wisely avoiding Reagan’s sparkling blue eyes.
The petite Omega with the cherubic face was one of the boss’ bullets, she killed any and everyone he asked her to and although she was terrified of him like any sane person was, she was also in complete awe of him.
It was late in the afternoon, the sun’s strength wasn’t high to begin with, making it even colder now that the sun was preparing to set.
Nikolai got into his car, taking his laptop from on of the men that walked out of the casino with him. Before the car was completely out of the parking lot, he already had it open on his knees, staring at the unmoving assassin.
How fortunate, he needed to pay a small-time gang downtown a visit. He would take Angelo along, he couldn’t stand to watch him sitting their motionless, and maybe they could grab dinner on their way back.
He didn’t think Reagan’s heart could take another order like the one he had given her that morning, the Omega idolized him far too much. Anything more than cold, direct orders would be unsettling for her.
Nikolai leaned back in his seat, his cold blue eyes not enough to hide how pleased he was about the change of plans. What could he say? It was nice to have company that wasn’t constantly shivering in terror.
