Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 722 - 723: I’m Sorry, Miss Gu 2800 words
When Gu Anxi said that, Zhou Yu became even more embarrassed. She hung her head and silently drank her juice.
Just as she was feeling awkward, someone suddenly sat down beside her—none other than Gu Mingzhu.
Gu Anxi felt a headache coming on just looking at her. Why hasn’t Tang Yuan been keeping an eye on Gu Mingzhu lately? Just letting her wander around outside?
She propped her chin on her hand and gently stirred the coffee in her cup. "Order your own things and pay your own bill!"
Gu Mingzhu was furious and glared at her. "Gu Anxi, don’t you go too far!"
In contrast to Gu Mingzhu’s fury, Gu Anxi appeared unconcerned. "How am I going too far? I didn’t provoke you. You’re the one who came over here."
Gu Mingzhu was speechless for a moment, still glaring at her.
Gu Anxi waved her hand. "Alright, alright. Don’t be so hot-tempered all day long. Nobody owes you anything."
Zhou Yu chuckled. "You two chat. I need to go to the restroom."
Gu Anxi acknowledged with an "Mm," telling her to be careful. Then, she went back to playing on her phone, largely ignoring Gu Mingzhu.
Gu Mingzhu knocked on the table. "Gu Anxi, I’m still here!"
Gu Anxi looked up, an amused smile playing on her lips. "I know. So? What about it?"
Does she really think she’s a princess, and everyone else has to be her bootlicker?
Gu Mingzhu bit her lip tightly. "The Ai Mi incident, was that your doing?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Yeah," Gu Anxi replied nonchalantly, continuing to play her game.
Gu Mingzhu was so furious that tears welled up in her eyes.
Why? Why was it Gu Anxi who made the money, but she was the one who got slapped by Song Jiaren?
Gu Mingzhu was extremely angry. "Why must you always oppose me?"
Amused, Gu Anxi put down her phone. She looked at Gu Mingzhu for a moment before slowly speaking, "Gu Mingzhu, are you mistaken about something? You were the one who insisted on getting involved with Bo Qing. How can you turn around and accuse me of opposing you? What kind of reasoning is that? Did Tang Yuan teach you that?"
She waved her hand. "I can see you’re determined to climb the social ladder. Instead of following Tang Yuan, you’d be better off trying to please Sister Zhou. Maybe if she takes pity on you, she’ll let you into the Min Family..."
Just as Gu Mingzhu was about to retort, she saw Gu Anxi frown. Gu Anxi quickly stood up and headed towards the women’s restroom. Gu Mingzhu watched her suspiciously and decided to follow.
Gu Anxi glanced back at her. "Don’t follow me."
Gu Mingzhu, thinking Gu Anxi was up to something, said primly, "I haven’t finished speaking."
Gu Anxi paid her no mind and walked briskly towards the restroom. The closer she got, the quieter her steps became.
She stopped abruptly right at the restroom door.
Zhou Yu was being held hostage from behind, an arm wrapped around her neck; clearly, they intended to take her away.
Zhou Yu had never experienced such a situation before. Panic filled her eyes. When she saw Gu Anxi, she shook her head desperately. "Anxi, run!"
Gu Anxi touched her forehead and gave a helpless smile. "It’s too late to run now."
She looked at the man holding Zhou Yu. "Let her go. She doesn’t know anything and isn’t involved in anything."
There were four men in black, clearly skilled in combat. The leader, his eyes cold and indifferent, stared at Gu Anxi. His voice was equally cold. "You are Gu Anxi?"
"Yes." Gu Anxi slid her hands into her pockets. "You’re here for me, right? Let her go, and I’ll go with you."
After saying this, she couldn’t help but laugh at herself.
She remembered what she had told Min Xin before—that Sister Zhou was just a tool, a means to an end. She hadn’t cared about her life or death. Compared to all of Beicheng, what was the sacrifice of one Sister Zhou?
But now, with Zhou Yu captured, she hadn’t hesitated to offer herself in exchange. Wasn’t it ironic? Min Xin would probably laugh at her for this, wouldn’t he?
Zhou Yu froze, biting her lip hard. "No, you run! Capturing me is useless; they’ll let me go soon."
Gu Anxi sighed softly. "So naive. They’ve known for a long time that you’re Min Xin’s wife."
Behind them, Gu Mingzhu was trying to sneak away, but one of the men in black blocked her escape.
Gu Mingzhu screamed, "You can’t take me! I’m Min Xin’s daughter!"
Gu Anxi rolled her eyes. "It wouldn’t matter if you were the daughter of the King of Heaven himself. Honestly, Min Xin must have been incredibly foolish to father a daughter like you."
Then, looking at Zhou Yu with mock sympathy, she said, "Sister Zhou, when your child is born, make sure to get their IQ tested. If they turn out to be a ’genius’ like this one here, there’s no hope."
Zhou Yu was terrified and frantic; she couldn’t believe Anxi was still cracking jokes at a time like this.
The man in black chuckled coldly. "She’s right. Even if the daughter of the King of Heaven herself showed up, it would be useless."
He tossed a pair of handcuffs at Gu Anxi’s feet. "You know what to do. Otherwise, Mrs. Min here might not make it out alive. I also know you were trained by Mr. Bo and are highly skilled, so we’ll have to inconvenience you, Miss Gu."
Gu Anxi looked at him and suddenly asked, "Is this Bo Qing’s doing?"
The man didn’t speak.
A tacit admission, then, Gu Anxi thought.
She bent down, picked up the handcuffs, and decisively cuffed herself. Shrugging, she asked, "Can you let her go now?"
The man glanced at her silently, then nodded to the man behind Gu Mingzhu. That man quickly handcuffed Gu Mingzhu, who screamed, "Why are you taking me? I have nothing to do with Gu Anxi!"
The leader sneered. "Pregnant women are troublesome."
With that, he released Zhou Yu.
Zhou Yu refused to leave, grabbing at the handcuffs on Gu Anxi’s wrists. "Anxi, you can’t go with them!"
Gu Anxi coughed lightly. "I’m fine. It’s just Bo Qing wanting to clean house."
She suddenly lowered her voice. "Go back. If I return, things will be as they were. If I don’t... forgive Min Xin. He’s been doing alright lately."
With that, she nudged Gu Mingzhu with her foot. "Alright, stop wailing. They have this whole place locked down."
Gu Mingzhu was still screaming, proclaiming she was Min Xin’s daughter and a friend of Song Jiaren.
Gu Anxi rolled her eyes. She hardly considers you a friend.
She looked at Zhou Yu again and smiled. "You’re pregnant. Don’t cry."
Zhou Yu clung to her, refusing to let go, but she was, after all, just a gentle woman, completely helpless in this situation.
By the time Zhou Yu regained her composure, ran out, and had the driver take her to Min Xin’s office, King Jingyao and Min Xin were in a conference room meeting. The meeting had been progressing smoothly when Zhou Yu burst in. She was usually elegant, but now she looked utterly disheveled and distressed.
In a daze, Zhou Yu blurted out, "Anxi... Bo Qing took Anxi away!"
"What?"
King Jingyao shot to his feet, and Min Xin immediately stood up as well, frowning. "What happened?"
It took Zhou Yu a minute to explain everything. Finally, King Jingyao slowly sank back into his chair and said softly, "Bo Qing is planning to make a move on Beicheng. That’s why he took Anxi."
He immediately instructed Wang Jingchuan, "Contact the Bo Family and the heads of the other major families. Have them come for a discussion."
Wang Jingchuan’s expression became grave. "Understood. I’ll see to it at once."
After Wang Jingchuan left, an oppressive silence filled the conference room. No one dared to speak. Their leader’s precious younger sister had been kidnapped, and he was clearly in a terrible mood.
King Jingyao smoked half a cigarette before he finally spoke slowly, "Meeting adjourned. Everyone except Min Xin, go about your duties. And another thing—if anyone dares to breathe a single word about what happened here today, their heads will roll."
Everyone remained silent as cicadas in winter, filing out one by one. None dared to utter a syllable.
Meanwhile, Min Xin comforted Zhou Yu and had Wang Yuan bring her a hot cup of tea. Once he understood the full details of the situation, he felt deeply conflicted. He clearly remembered Gu Anxi previously stating that she didn’t care about Zhou Yu, that Zhou Yu was merely a tool to her. But now... He knew that if it weren’t for Zhou Yu, Gu Anxi, with her skills, would never have fallen into their enemies’ hands.
He was silent for a long time before finally asking King Jingyao, "What can we do?"
King Jingyao continued to smoke, taking a moment before replying, "For now, she’s certainly in no immediate danger. But... it’s hard to say what will happen later. After all..."
He trailed off. Bo Qing had a bit of a soft spot for Gu Anxi, and coincidentally, Gu Mingzhu was also in his hands.
In fact, if it hadn’t been for Gu Mingzhu, Zhou Yu probably wouldn’t have been released so easily, King Jingyao thought.
When King Jingyao finished speaking, Zhou Yu whispered, "If Anxi is really taken away, what will we do?"
No one could answer. It was clear Bo Qing was staking everything on this.
A moment later, Wang Jingchuan returned. "I’ve notified the families. They’ll be here shortly."
King Jingyao nodded, stubbed out his cigarette, and said softly, "Also, tell Chen Ming to initiate a citywide search. See if we can intercept them."
But Wang Jingchuan replied, "I’ve already taken care of that, sir."
King Jingyao glanced at him, then stood up. He paced back and forth a few times before stopping at the floor-to-ceiling window, slapping his hand forcefully against the glass.
If anything happens to that little rascal, I’ll personally slaughter Bo Qing!
Min Xin came over, his voice low. "I actually think Bo Qing might have taken Anxi to the Dark’s main base. That’s a place where they spent time together before. And if he wants to get far away from Beicheng, it’s the ideal location; it’s also very difficult for outsiders to access."
Just as King Jingyao turned to him, about to say something, a commotion erupted at the door.
He looked over and saw Bo Nianyao and Bo Xichen arriving, followed by even Elder Bo.
Behind them were Gu Yuanshan, and Chu Changhe with his wife. After the ordeals their children had been through, both Mr. and Mrs. Chu looked significantly more haggard.
