Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 705 - 706: Open-eye Realm, Good Afternoon Mr. Gu
Old Master Bo watched eagerly, finally jolting as if waking from a dream.
Damn it! And here I was looking forward to some drama, but it was all an act! King Jingyao and she were in cahoots!
The old master was so angry steam was practically coming out of his ears. He glanced at the spineless Min Xin.
I heard this kid got divorced, yet he still can’t seem to let go of his ex-wife. King Jingyao just has to mention her, and it’s like it’s a life-or-death matter for Min Xin. I wonder how he’s managed all these years.
Meanwhile, Old Wang had clearly hit Min Xin’s sore spot. Min Xin coughed lightly. "Now, now, speak nicely. Why resort to cursing?"
He personally stood up and placed both hands on Old Wang’s shoulders. "Calm down, calm down. Why are you getting angry with a child?"
At Min Xin’s signal, his trusted subordinate, Wang Yuan, chimed in, "Yes, yes. It’s quite common for someone as young as Young CEO Gu to be playful. And this device has been developed now. Although it might not meet all regulations, it’s still a very beneficial thing."
Min Xin, with a composed expression, said, "Indeed. It’s such a good thing, a boon for the common people. Jingyao, look, when you’re bored at home, you can have an intelligent companion. How wonderful would that be?"
King Jingyao chuckled. "You make it sound as if I’m so lonely."
Then, his expression turned stern, taking on an uncompromising look. "I’m not getting involved in this. You handle it!"
"Handle it?" Min Xin feigned surprise. "Jingyao, what do you mean by ’handle it’?"
He then said with a broad smile, "But since you’ve asked me to handle it, I’ll take charge. I’ll assign this project to the Cloud He Group."
"Not doing it." Gu Anxi fiddled with her fingers and huffed lightly. "I’ll just get scolded if I do it. So, no."
Min Xin feigned anger. "If you don’t take on such a big project, who will? Alright, alright, stop sulking. If you have any difficulties, just tell Uncle Min. I might not have much else, but I certainly have enough technical talent and funds."
Gu Anxi glanced at him, then coolly at Old Wang.
Old Wang, looking torn between annoyance and amusement, said, "Alright, alright. Since Min Xin is willing to support you so strongly, I don’t need to be the bad guy here."
Gu Anxi huffed lightly. "You want me to do this project? What’s the benefit of being worked to the bone and constantly chewed out?"
"What kind of talk is that?" Old Wang glared at her. "We value you!"
He looked up again. "Isn’t that right, Min?"
Min Xin knew he’d been skillfully manipulated. He rubbed his nose. "Of course, yes. We value her immensely."
Gu Anxi nodded. "Alright. I’ll write up a list of what I need and have someone send it over."
Min Xin, feeling dejected and snubbed, muttered a few perfunctory words and quickly left.
Once Min Xin left, Wang Jingchuan closed the door and gave his boss a thumbs-up. "That was a masterstroke, sir."
King Jingyao chuckled softly, sat down in his chair, lit a cigarette, and, while smoking leisurely, asked his little rascal, "I played my part well, didn’t I?"
"Exceptionally well." Gu Anxi pulled a few tickets from her pocket. "The premiere is tomorrow. Remember to go."
As soon as she finished speaking, she made to run off. Old Wang called out from behind her, "Hold on."
She stopped.
King Jingyao took a box from his drawer and had Wang Jingchuan give it to her. "For your first movie, I had a small gift custom-made for you."
Wang Jingchuan happily handed it to Gu Anxi. "Open it up! Let me feast my eyes too."
It wasn’t just him; even Old Master Bo craned his neck, eager to see.
Gu Anxi looked at them, then lowered her head to open the box.
Inside was a stalk of wheat crafted from gold, symbolizing a box-office hit, and inlaid with many sparkling diamonds.
The ’little princess’ said somewhat disdainfully, "What kind of tacky aesthetic is this?"
Old Wang’s face darkened. "If you don’t want it, give it back."
But the ’little princess’ had already closed the box, snatched it up, and run off. Old Master Bo immediately followed.
Outside, they encountered many staff members and prominent figures. Seeing Gu Anxi, they were all very respectful. "Young CEO Gu."
It was well known that she was Mr. Wang’s most cherished younger sister, and recently, Mr. Min had also seemed to treat her quite favorably.
Gu Anxi responded amiably, not paying them much mind, then got into her car.
Old Master Bo agilely hopped in. She turned to look at him. "I remember, Old Master, you used to have trouble getting around when you went up the mountains. You seem quite fit now."
Old Master Bo retorted huffily, "I’ve always been quite fit!"
With this girl in the Bo family, even if I were dead, I could probably do sit-ups in my coffin!
Gu Anxi looked at him sympathetically and drove off to the Cloud He Group.
No sooner had they arrived at the Cloud He Group than Old Master Bo was stunned again.
He originally thought the young ladies of Si Garden were beautiful enough, but who knew the secretaries at the Cloud He Group were even more gorgeous! Each one looked like she had stepped out of a manga...
As soon as Old Master Bo entered, he gaped like someone who had never seen such a sight, his eyes wide with awe.
In the lobby, a long line of secretaries bowed to Gu Anxi. "Good afternoon, Young CEO Gu."
