Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 595 - 596: Someone is Trying to Snatch the Little Milk Fairy!
Bo Xichen lowered his head, his voice suddenly hoarse. "Well, let’s give it a try."
They tried for quite some time...
By the time they got into the car, her little face was still burning hot.
Uncle Bo secured his seatbelt while looking at her and said teasingly, "You’re so useless."
Lil’ Cream Puff was immediately frustrated. "In what way am I useless?"
She murmured, "Really, Uncle, that’s not fair."
Uncle Bo looked at her adorable state, his heart completely softened. He noticed she hadn’t fastened her seatbelt, so he leaned over to help her secure it, his movements gentle.
He looked up to find Lil’ Cream Puff looking at him with bright, sparkling eyes. He couldn’t help but chuckle. "What does this mean?"
Lil’ Cream Puff replied confidently, "You’ll see just how capable I am when we get home."
Doctor Bo graciously replied, "Then I look forward to seeing my wife’s skills!"
Her face flushed, and she awkwardly changed her position before complaining, "Uncle, you’ve changed."
"Have I?" he asked, starting the car. "Am I changing for the better or for the worse? Tell me, and I can adjust."
She gave him another look, then leaned back in her seat, nibbling on her little finger.
A little later, she noticed that he wasn’t driving in the direction of Si Garden, so she asked quietly, "Aren’t we going home?"
Bo Xichen smiled. "You didn’t eat much earlier. I’m taking you to get some good food. Only after a good meal can you show off your skills, right?"
It’s impossible to converse with him! she thought. But this version of Professor Bo is his normal mode, right? I’d rather not have someone who’s always acting elite – that’s a machine, not a man!
Lil’ Cream Puff was instantly satisfied...
「...」
In another hospital, Min Xin woke up at nine o’clock.
He opened his eyes to darkness. His shoulder throbbed with pain, and his entire body ached.
He asked in a hoarse whisper, "What time is it?"
His secretary said softly, "It’s nine o’clock. You’ve been sleeping for most of the day."
Min Xin closed his eyes, his stomach feeling empty. He said, "Prepare some food."
The secretary hesitated. "We have some chicken soup readily available, prepared by Miss Gu. It’s still hot. Shall I help you sit up and have a bowl?"
Upon hearing this, Min Xin asked, "Gu Anxi is being that kind?"
The secretary smiled. "Not Doctor Gu, it’s Miss Gu Mingzhu."
Min Xin immediately lost interest and closed his eyes. "Is she still here?"
"Yes, she said she wouldn’t feel at ease until you woke up," the secretary replied neutrally. He was well aware of Gu Mingzhu’s intentions, thinking that without Zhou Yu, Mr. Min would accept her and the Min Family’s power would be hers to use. It must be said, she was thinking too much!
Hearing his secretary’s words, Min Xin opened his eyes and glared at him.
The secretary knew his master was displeased, likely not wishing for anyone to be around when he woke up. So, he said in an even quieter, more deferential tone, "It was Miss Gu who insisted." I can’t exactly drive her away, can I?
Min Xin couldn’t blame him. He shifted slightly. "What about Gu Anxi?"
The secretary let out an "Oh." "Doctor Gu didn’t come tonight."
Min Xin was instantly displeased. "She’s my attending physician, isn’t she? Shouldn’t she be on night duty?"
The secretary looked somewhat troubled. "Doctor Gu has a rather high standing, and she said your surgery was minor."
"My arm feels like it’s about to fall off, and she calls that a minor surgery?" Min Xin grumbled. Food isn’t enjoyable when there’s no one to argue with!
Just as he was stewing in his discontent, Gu Mingzhu approached and said very politely, "Uncle Min, shall I pour you a bowl of soup?"
Min Xin watched her quietly. "Wang Yuan can do that."
The secretary immediately went to pour a bowl of soup and even took a sip himself. His meticulousness was just short of using a silver needle to test for poison, which made Gu Mingzhu’s self-esteem take a slight hit.
Only after Min Xin had taken a few sips did she quietly ask, "Is it okay?"
Min Xin replied blandly, "The taste is fine."
Gu Mingzhu smiled faintly. "Then I will come again tomorrow."
Min Xin didn’t respond, which she took as tacit approval. His secretary, however, sighed, feeling sorry for the young girl. Why would the Gu family’s precious daughter insist on being an illegitimate child? What’s the point!
So, when Gu Mingzhu was leaving, he escorted her to the door and offered some heartfelt advice, "Miss Gu, perhaps it’s best if you don’t come tomorrow. Mr. Min is well taken care of here, and patients need their rest."
Gu Mingzhu didn’t want to offend him outright, but, clearly uncomfortable, she said softly, "Mr. Min didn’t object, and well..."
She bit her lip. "We share a familial bond, Secretary Wang. You wouldn’t want to sever that bond between us, would you?"
Wang Yuan was speechless. He was genuinely trying to help; why did this young lady have to resort to conspiracy theories?
After a pause, Wang Yuan replied softly, "Fine, come if you want, but don’t set your expectations too high."
Gu Mingzhu paused. "His... former wife, she’s with Mr. Wang, isn’t she?"
She had just received news that Zhou Yu was pregnant with King Jingyao’s child, which was why they had come to blows. That meant Min Xin and Zhou Yu were definitely over. There was a high probability for her, his biological child, to take her place. Now was Mr. Min’s most vulnerable time; as long as she cared for him diligently, she could surely move his heart eventually.
After Gu Mingzhu left, Wang Yuan shook his head with a smile and slowly strolled back into the ward.
When he closed the door, he saw Min Xin with a grim expression. Wang Yuan couldn’t help but ask, "Are you upset?"
Min Xin was quiet for a moment, then retorted, "Is there anything for me to be happy about?" Was I supposed to be happy that my wife was having a child with someone else? Or that I’d gained a bastard? Or happy about being toyed with by that doctor surnamed Gu?
Wang Yuan touched his nose and said nothing.
After a moment of silent contemplation, Min Xin said softly, "I asked her if she was willing to come back."
Wang Yuan was taken aback. The master’s magnanimity! Unbelievable!
He waited patiently as Min Xin continued in a self-mocking tone, "Why would she be willing? That old man over there treats her very well, he’s wealthy, comes from a prestigious family, and they share similar values. Why would she even consider me?"
The secretary couldn’t bear to see his master so dejected. Thinking back over the past twenty years, when had his master not been full of vigor and confidence? Even Mr. Wang sometimes had to yield to him a little! However, after Gu Anxi appeared, everything changed. It seemed the master had constantly been on the losing end... This... was truly bizarre!
The secretary leaned in and quietly suggested, "How about we try to bribe Doctor Gu? Get her on our side, and then we can deal with King Jingyao?"
Min Xin looked at him.
The secretary said confidently, "I’ve heard she loves eating wild ginseng, the kind she eats like regular food..."
As he spoke, he gave a sly chuckle, a knowing grin spreading across his face.
Min Xin pondered for a moment. "Wild ginseng isn’t hard to come by, but..."
He scoffed. "King Jingyao dotes on her excessively, practically groveling. You want me to grovel before her too? King Jingyao acknowledges her as a sister; should I do the same? Moreover, King Jingyao has his old folks helping him spoil her. Where am I supposed to find old folks? Go back to my hometown and carry them over?"
The secretary swallowed hard. "Then rely on your own strength. I believe in your ability to woo women. Mr. Wang is no match for you!"
"Really?" Min Xin mused. "Let me think about it properly."
The secretary urged him, "What’s there to consider at a time like this? Once her belly starts showing, it can’t be hidden."
Min Xin glanced sideways at him. "Are you suggesting I become a ready-made father?"
The secretary’s voice faltered. "You’re... unwilling?"
