Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 594 - 595: Empathize with the same illness! Picked up!
At Wang Jingchuan’s question, he chuckled. "Actually, the Old Master said he’s staying for dinner."
King Jingyao heard this and said naturally, "Alright, have the home cooks prepare a few extra dishes and send them over."
The Chief of Staff hesitated.
King Jingyao turned his head. "What’s wrong?"
As he spoke, he touched his face, which was a little sore.
That bastard Min Xin really didn’t hold back.
The Chief of Staff said softly, "Well, the Old Master said he wants to have dinner with Professor Bo and Miss An An. He wants to attend the family gathering at Miss An An’s home."
Gu Yuntian and Wang Keru were both recuperating in the hospital’s villa convalescence area, so the Old Master decided to have dinner there.
When King Jingyao heard this, he was quite displeased and said to the Old Lady, "See? He doesn’t care about me, his own son, at all."
The Old Lady pondered for a moment. Her son couldn’t help but press, "You agree with that, don’t you, Mother?"
The Old Lady stood up. "Since your father is going there for dinner, I’ll go too. I haven’t met An An’s father yet. Jingchuan, have the driver go back and get some health supplements. Remember, they must be the best; anything less wouldn’t be presentable."
Wang Jingchuan acknowledged and went to carry out the order, casting a sympathetic glance at his master as he left.
You might as well be adopted at this point, sir, he thought.
King Jingyao waited until the Chief of Staff had left before grumbling, "Now I’m not important at all."
The Old Lady spoke gently, "You’re so much older than her; are you really going to be jealous of An An? Besides, don’t you have Jingchuan to look after you? I’ve observed him carefully over the years, and I think he takes very good care of you, even more meticulously than some women."
King Jingyao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but there was nothing he could do.
When Jingchuan returned and the Old Lady had also left, he lay down and sighed softly. "Now I feel a bit like I’m in the same boat as Min Xin."
The Chief of Staff tried to console him from the side, "You’re much better off. Look, you have the Old Master and the Old Lady."
"They’re Gu Anxi’s now."
"You have Miss An An!"
"She’s Bo Xichen’s!"
"You still have a wife and children."
"So does Min Xin!"
After saying this, he suddenly felt he was even worse off than Min Xin!
Lying here in so much pain, whimpering... How pitiful I am!
The great man decided he’d had enough, endured the pain, and started to get up. "I want to go for dinner too."
Wang Jingchuan was terrified. Supporting him, he urgently tried to coax him, "Please don’t be willful, sir! This injury is quite serious. Didn’t An An say that if you develop a fever tonight, you can’t be discharged tomorrow?"
He persuaded him earnestly, "There’s a pile of things waiting for you over there. Min Xin can’t handle matters, so everything requires your decision. Isn’t this what you’ve always looked forward to?"
The great man lay back down again, sighing, "What you said is true! But Jingchuan, tell me, what’s the use of this power if even my own parents don’t ask about me when I’m injured and sick? What’s the use of this power!"
The Chief of Staff coaxed again, "That’s because they dote on Miss An An. Don’t you dote on her even more? So, in a way, aren’t they doting on her on your behalf?"
That seemed to make sense!
The great man lay down. After a moment, he said, "Jingchuan, I’m hungry."
So Wang Jingchuan busied himself attending to him. Sigh, with this injury, his hereditary tendency to whine has kicked in early, he thought. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Meanwhile, the Old Master and Old Lady finished their dinner, enjoyed some tea, and then left, thoroughly satisfied. They didn’t even stop by their son’s ward again.
After they departed, Gu Yuntian was still in a daze. He pinched his own cheek and said, "Ke Ru, this can’t be real, can it?"
How could things change so much after he’d been asleep for a year or two? He had ambitions too, considering himself a sort of low-spec version of Min Xin. But all this seemed to have come to him effortlessly. He was someone who had won by just lying down!
Wang Keru smiled. "Of course it’s true. Our An An is incredible!" With a flick of her finger, the enormous pigeon’s egg diamond on her ring glittered.
Gu Yuntian was very satisfied. He then said to Bo Xichen, "You two must be tired as well. Go home early, and drive carefully."
Bo Xichen smiled and then brought up another matter. "Your recovery is progressing well. Why not move to the villa near Si Garden to continue recuperating? It’s quieter than the hospital, and the environment is better."
That villa was one of the initial welcome gifts for An An and had been unoccupied ever since.
Gu Yuntian and Wang Keru exchanged a glance, and he immediately agreed, "Alright. Xichen has always been reliable in his arrangements."
He agreed so quickly mainly for Wang Keru’s sake. Although they were staying in an independent villa area within the hospital, it was still a hospital and somewhat inconvenient. Ke Ru was a refined person who always needed to do her beauty treatments and such. While she was taking care of him, she was also afraid of people gossiping. Moving to their own place would certainly be more convenient.
Wang Keru was also pleased by his words. That villa was very close to Si Garden. However, she was too embarrassed to show her excitement openly and merely chimed in, "Yes, yes. Xichen is always reliable."
Bo Xichen smiled faintly. "Then I’ll have people prepare. Once everything is arranged there, you can move straight in."
With that settled, he took Gu Anxi back with him.
The hospital was quiet at night, with only the incessant chirping of early summer insects.
Gu Anxi linked her arm through her young uncle’s, pressing her cheek against his arm, and whispered, "Uncle?"
He hummed in acknowledgment, looking down at her. "What is it?"
She said softly, "Thank you."
He smiled. "I just lent a hand."
He reached out and ruffled the little one’s hair. "Our An An can arrange things perfectly well on her own."
"But this is different," she said in a soft, adorable voice. "It’s different when you’re here, Uncle."
Fengxi’s voice, dripping with sarcasm, chimed in, "She’s about to confess her feelings again."
Bo Xichen chuckled, switched Fengxi off, then turned and looked at his little one with a perfectly straight face. "Alright, you can confess your feelings now."
Gu Anxi looked like she was about to bristle. "I was not!"
He chuckled lightly. "Really not? But I think Fengxi was right."
Gu Anxi hugged his arm, acting cute and playfully protesting, "Uncle, Fengxi is influencing you too much!"
"Is that so?" He swept her into his arms, half-hugging and half-carrying her as they slowly walked towards the parking lot. "I think I’m more influenced by you. You know what they say, ’one takes on the color of one’s company.’"
"You’re the ’black’ one!" she retorted, her lips curving upwards. "Everyone calls me a little angel."
"A black-hearted little angel?" He couldn’t help but laugh. "Gu Anxi, you probably have no idea how much trouble you stir up outside, or how annoying people find you."
She hugged his waist, playfully protesting, "You’re not allowed to say that about me."
Bo Xichen lowered his head, his voice growing husky. "However, most of them have a love-hate relationship with you. Gu Anxi, the way you stir up trouble everywhere, I really should lock you up at home."
To stop her from going around setting hearts on fire. He was observing; Min Xin would be next.
Gu Anxi exclaimed, "Where would I get that kind of power! I only want my Uncle to love me, and no one else."
He didn’t believe her for a second. Leaning down, he said, "Is that so? Then show me."
Gu Anxi looked up, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Professor Bo, this is a hospital, with people coming and going... Are you sure?"
