Building The Strongest Family-Chapter 50: Wolves In Silk Suits [ 1 ]
Head Bureau Derrick stood tall on an elevated podium, his well-tailored suit accentuating his sharp gaze as he surveyed the sea of reporters below.
The flash of cameras, short guns and long cannons alike, illuminated the scene, capturing every moment of this historic press conference.
Taking a deep breath, Derrick began with a commanding presence:
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press, esteemed delegates, and citizens of the Aurelian Federation, thank you for joining us today. We stand at the precipice of the most ambitious urban development project in our country history!
The Federation Council has decreed the development of 1.08 million square kilometers in the northern part of Neo-Luminara.
Over the past decade, our population has surged to 1.5 billion residents, and our infrastructure is straining under this weight.
Housing shortages, traffic gridlock, and escalating energy demands threaten to destabilize our hard-earned prosperity.
But we do not shy away from challenges; we engineer solutions! This land will accommodate 500 and more million new citizens!"
Arthur turned off the television as the screen went dark.
With a satisfied smile spreading across his face. "Finally," he muttered under his breath, excitement sparkling in his eyes.
After two long months, the government was finally announcing news that would ignite a fierce competition, a battle between gods and demons in this rapidly evolving landscape.
Yet Arthur felt no fear; his Osborn family was ready for whatever lay ahead.
Shaking off lingering thoughts about what was to come, he settled into his chair once more.
"1.08 million square kilometers just for part of a city? These people are practically building a country!" He chuckled incredulously.
It boggled his mind that such an expanse could be considered merely a small piece of urban territory in Panterra,an area larger than some countries back on Earth!
Even their family's 10,000 square kilometers seemed like just a drop in an ocean compared to what they were discussing.
"Sigh... let's not dwell on it," Arthur decided as he shook his head resolutely.
"Yes, sir, the car is ready," Evolon reminded him.
"Oh right!" Arthur replied as he stood up and made his way toward the front gate of their mansion where three sleek business-class cars awaited him.
Ten Royal Grade bodyguards stood at attention nearby, exuding formidable confidence.
"Boss!" As soon as Arthur appeared, they snapped into military poses and greeted him with powerful voices that echoed through the air.
Arthur nodded back with a grin before stepping into the middle car opened by one of his guards. "Damn! I love this feeling."
He sank into the plush seat at the back and poured himself a glass of red wine from the mini-refrigerator while lazily leaning back to savor each sip.
"Evolon, what's my schedule for today?" he asked casually while gazing out at passing scenery.
"Sir, right now you have a meeting with various suppliers and construction companies at the Osborn Real Estate and Construction Group headquarters. At 9:00 AM, you're scheduled to meet Miss Emily at Osborn Media and Entertainment Headquarters. Then at 10:30 AM, you'll be meeting Mr. Philip at Osborn Capital Headquarters. Following that, there's a meeting with Sir Julian at noon, then Sir Oscar at 1:30 PM, and finally Miss Ashley at 2:30 PM..."
"Stop! Stop!" Arthur waved his hand abruptly, interrupting Evolon.
"Is something wrong, sir?" came Evolon's concerned voice.
"No, it's just... I didn't expect my day to be so jam-packed. What a headache!" Arthur rubbed his temples in frustration.
Evolon fell silent, not responding to Arthur's exasperation.
Taking a sip of red wine, Arthur lazily gazed out of the car window as the morning sun climbed high in the eastern sky, casting its golden rays across the world.
A smile crept onto his lips as he watched skyscrapers rise majestically against the horizon while pedestrians hurried by on their way to work.
Sometimes fate has a funny way of revealing itself; for Arthur, it felt like an old friend.
He had died and somehow found himself in another world, inhabiting a different body from a wealthy family teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.
Yet he considered himself fortunate; it was far better than being trapped in a worthless body and mocked for his inadequacies.
In this new life, he no longer faced the relentless struggles that had defined his past existence, where every penny was hard-won through suffering and sacrifice.
Now, what once required blood, sweat, and tears could be attained with just a snap of his fingers!
To him, fate was undeniably kind, a true ally.
Of course, others might see fate differently; for someone whose loved one is battling cancer or facing insurmountable challenges, fate can seem cruel indeed.
Perspectives vary widely based on individual experiences; yet for Arthur? Fate was simply wonderful.
"Sir, we have arrived," Evolon's voice broke through his reverie.
"Oh!" Startled back to reality, Arthur shook his head and stepped out of the car. frёewebnoѵēl.com
He adjusted his suit meticulously before gazing up at the towering skyscraper before him, the headquarters of Osborn Real Estate and Construction Group, standing over 200 meters tall with its impressive 60 floors.
His uncle Julian had purchased this entire building as the company's office space.
With a smirk playing on his lips as he admired the structure, Arthur entered through the grand lobby bustling with activity.
Elite businessmen clad in suits occupied various reception areas sipping coffee while reading newspapers amidst employees darting about their tasks, the elevators were constantly opening and closing like clockwork in this hive of productivity.
"Good morning, Mr. Arthur!" greeted an employee with a respectful nod, his expression warm and welcoming.
Arthur smiled back, returning the gesture. "Good morning!" he replied, as other employees caught sight of him and quickly offered their greetings before diving back into their tasks.
"Good morning, Mr. Arthur!" chirped a young secretary who approached him with an air of eagerness.
Raising an eyebrow in curiosity, Arthur nodded in acknowledgment. "I'm President Julian's secretary," she explained rapidly. "He asked me to escort you to the top floor when you arrived."
"Okay, lead the way," Arthur said with a confident nod as he followed her into the private elevator that whisked them up to the building's pinnacle.
A few moments later, the elevator doors slid open as the secretary led Arthur towards the conference room.
-----------------
In a
spacious conference room that could easily rival the size of a basketball court. In its center stood a long glass table flanked by chairs on either side.
The room was filled to capacity with well-dressed individuals, men and women alike, each exuding an aura of success in their tailored suits and formal attire.
Among them were familiar faces from Ethan's past encounters at the secret auction: Christopher Campbell, Ophelia Sinclair, Benedict Lancaster... each one commanding attention in their own right.
"What brings you here, Benedict? Didn't you claim you wanted nothing to do with the blue pearl?" Christopher raised an eyebrow, maintaining his calm demeanor despite a flicker of unease in his eyes.
"Why shouldn't I be here? Last I checked, this isn't your personal domain," Benedict shot back with a smirk.
Christopher took a deep breath before glancing at Ophelia, still as cool and captivating as ever in her custom-made business suit and sleek black heels.
Her long hair was neatly tied back into a ponytail that framed her striking features perfectly; she radiated competence and confidence.
He wanted to ask her what she was doing there but thought better of it.
The atmosphere buzzed with whispers and murmurs as attendees exchanged opinions among themselves.
Some couldn't hide their impatience; they kept checking their limited-edition luxury watches while trying to subtly showcase their wealth.
Suddenly...
Bang!
The door swung open as Arthur entered alongside the secretary. An immediate hush fell over the room; all eyes turned toward him, curiosity etched on every face.
Arthur took in his surroundings briefly before making his way confidently to the head of the table where he settled into the main seat.
His calm demeanor contrasted sharply with the myriad expressions around him, some serious, others laced with contempt, all fixated on him.
Arthur surveyed the expressions of everyone in the conference room, a wave of memories washing over him from his first uncle Julian's advice.
Just before stepping into this meeting, he had visited Julian's office, where his uncle had expressed reluctance to deal with these people himself.
That's why he'd called on Arthur to host the meeting instead.
Shaking off any lingering doubts, Arthur addressed the room with a calm demeanor. "Alright, ladies and gentlemen," he began, "let's cut to the chase, why are we all here?"
As soon as Arthur finished speaking, an expectant silence enveloped the room; eyebrows raised in curiosity as everyone turned their attention toward him.
A hesitant cough broke the stillness. All eyes shifted to Christopher Campbell, who cleared his throat and met Arthur's gaze.
"Mr. Arthur," he began smoothly, "I'm Christopher Campbell from the Campbell Family in Metrospire. Since you're being so straightforward, I'll do the same."
Arthur maintained a polite smile while carefully assessing Christopher.
He recognized this man all too well, the very same individual backing the Sterling Family in their attempts to undermine the Osborns. Beneath his friendly facade lay an icy resolve.
"Go ahead, Mr. Christopher," Arthur encouraged with a subtle nod.
"Mr. Arthur," Christopher continued confidently, "you're aware that the government plans to develop 1.08 million square kilometers of land, right?"
Arthur chuckled lightly and nodded. "Of course! Who hasn't heard about such exciting news? It's practically all anyone talks about!"
"And you realize your company has acquired 10,000 square kilometers right smack in the middle of that development zone?" Christopher smirked as he leaned forward slightly.
"Absolutely! I consider myself quite fortunate to snag such prime real estate at a bargain price," Arthur replied with a playful grin. "I often find myself waking up in the middle of the night just laughing at my good fortune!"
"But what exactly are you getting at?" Arthur asked curiously.
Christopher straightened up and locked eyes with him, a sly smile playing on his lips. "What I'm suggesting is that my company would like to partner with you for developing that land."
