Building The Perfect Harem With My Heavenly Desire System-Chapter 26: You Want My Company?
Chapter 26
’Good. I wanted you to hear it. You know what? I literally wish I could choke you right now!’ Alex hissed internally.
[Keep thinking like that and I’ll make sure to call 911 and I’ll tell them that a very suspicious man is threatening to murder his own guardian angel]
The system replied in a voice dripping with innocence.
’Can you be serious for a second? That mission you just gave me is practically suicidal. I have been using the Aura of Seduction, but the damn thing is taking forever. Can’t you just swap the target? Any girl will do?’
[N-O-P-E. You’re just going to have to deal with it. Once I’ve assigned a mission as your personal system, even I don’t hold the power to take it back]
’You did this on purpose,’ Alex groaned. ’You just want to watch me make a fool of myself.’
[Ugh.... Fine! I did it because I thought it’ll be fun watching you seduce Nyx, but I also did it because I was tired of your whining about strength. I recall telling you about that part?]
Alex nearly spat out the wine in his mouth. Did this gremlin just say ’fun?’
’Fun?!’ he shouted in his head. "So you think risking my life with a woman who could literally bury me this minute without blinking is fun?!’
[First of all, calm down. I read from the internet that stress is bad for your health. Second of all... I guess you’re right. Nyx would probably kill you. But don’t sweat it. Have you forgotten that to make the aura of seduction work faster you just have to get... frisky. You know. Touch her]
’Oh really?’ Alex shot back. ’Did you miss the part where if I try to touch her, my fingers are automatically gone. Like poof!"
[Well, I’m all out of ideas. You know what? Figure it out yourself, afterall you’re pretty smart right? I read your memories and saw that in your previous life you were literally a nerd. Not the creepy otaku kind... But the smart one that got A’s and B’s, so I’m sure you can come up with something, using that big brain of yours. In the meanwhile... Adios!]
After saying that, the annoying voice of the system faded away, leaving Alex with a ton of anger and frustration bubbling deep within him. He leaned back into the couch and forced himself to take a long, deep breath to keep his heart from hammering out of his chest.
Great. Just great.
The stupid system had vanished after dropping that ridiculous advice, leaving him alone to deal with the most dangerously scary person in the room.
Alex lifted his glass and took another sip of the wine, hoping that the alcohol might somehow help his brain to start working. Unfortunately... It didn’t. Instead the wine just made his head more muffled.
Across from him, Nyx was sipping her glass of wine. What surprised Alex was that this was already her third glass.
’Damn. Just how fast does this woman drink?’
As he continued to watch her. A sudden bold idea came to his mind. One that even he himself found really crazy. He figured that since Nyx was literally drinking wine like it was water. Then it was bound for her to fall tipsy soon enough, leaving her emotionally vulnerable for the aura to work.
And since the aura of seduction basically works best on women with a lower guard and personality, then maybe if boosted with occasionally... Ahem, accidentally touches, then maybe he could actually complete this crazy mission.
But now the only thing he just had to do was remain patient and bide his time. Because from the slight faint flush on her face. It was clear that she couldn’t hold her drink for long periods.
After analysing everything, Alex almost had the urge to pat himself for the great idea.
Nyx, who had been calmly drinking while observing the slightly dazed person from across her, soon finished the third glass and poured another one for herself.
She couldn’t quite understand why she had been paying attention to the annoying man who was lost in thought, from across her, since the car ride earlier.
Honestly, it felt strange, since she had never really paid anyone a meaningful glance in her entire life, now suddenly here she was paying attention to a sleazy-looking man, who would occasionally look at her, before quickly looking away, not knowing that she had already caught the fool. That’s why she kept pouring another glass of wine, hoping that the alcohol would numb this bizarre magnetic pull.
Bzzzz!
Suddenly a phone’s ringtone brought them both out of their thoughts. Nyx glanced down at the screen, and her relaxed expression instantly disappeared, causing Alex to wonder whether it was some kind of extremely important call from a secret organization.
She picked up the phone and answered coolly, but Alex could still hear the sharp edge hidden beneath it.
A nervous voice responded from the other end of the call, though Alex couldn’t hear the exact words. Nyx listened quietly for a few seconds before her eyes narrowed slightly.
"I see."
She leaned back against the couch and crossed one leg over the other, making Alex wonder whether this was her favourite position or she just liked to do it because it makes her seem more menacing.
"So Marcus finally decided to make a move. It’s not surprising, I expected that slimy bastard to do this."
Alex’s ears immediately perked up.
Marcus?
Nyx continued listening while maintaining the same composed expression, as if the news she was hearing wasn’t a big deal. When the person on the other end finished speaking, Nyx responded again.
"First, calm down. He can’t really do anything serious with me around." She paused briefly before continuing. "Now contact the legal department immediately. I want every contract related to that branch reviewed within the next hour... Then notify the logistics team and move the remaining inventory to the second warehouse tonight. Do not wait until morning."
Alex blinked. It seems like things were really serious with what was happening over there. His mind went back to the previous moment where Marcus was instructing the mysterious man by his side outside the building.
Honestly if you were to ask him, he felt like Marcus was kind of a petty man who couldn’t accept the fact that he lost, and would always go about to get his revenge.
He focused back on Nyx who was still giving out instructions like a domineering war goddess commanding her troops.
"If Marcus is still trying to pressure the suppliers, then secure a temporary agreement with the independent distributors we discussed with last month."
She paused again as the other person on the other end responded.
"Yes. Offer them a slightly higher price if necessary, and listen carefully." Her voice turned colder "If Marcus attempts to interfere with the licensing again, escalate it immediately. I want every step documented....I will handle the rest myself."
The person on the other side of the call spoke quickly again. This time Nyx gave a small nod, ended the call and placed the phone back on the table.
For a moment, silence filled the room. Alex stared at her with surprise and a bit of admiration. He had just watched Nyx deal with what sounded like a serious business problem in less than two minutes, then picked up a wine bottle and poured herself another glass as if nothing serious had just happened.
As Alex wanted to reach for his drink, he suddenly remembered his five million dollars that she had promised to give him, and reasoned that he could use that money to buy a share from a good company.
But one of the issues was which company? Because he remembered that in his past life even giants like Apple had started as small companies. What he needed right now was the same thing—a small company he could grow and nurture with his own hands.
Wait! Didn’t one of Nyx’s companies develop an issue? So why couldn’t he just buy the shares with the five million she was going to give him.
Alex glanced at Nyx and cleared his throat, to gain her attention. "So... About my five million dollars?"
Nyx didn’t even look at him. "I’ll have the bank transfer it over to your account."
"No... I don’t want cash. I want to use that money to buy that small company of yours that Marcus is attacking. So what do you say?"
Nyx froze, then snapped out of it and gave him a scrutinizing gaze. She couldn’t believe that he just asked for one of her companies.
"You? You want to buy a company from me? Give me one good reason why I should sell the company to you."
Alex leaned forward matching her intensity. He figured since the bow was already drawn, he might as well go along with it.
"Because, I believe that even with all the precautions you’re taking right now. There is still a huge possibility that the company might go down, after all Marcus must have already anticipated what you might have planned, since he knows you best. But he doesn’t know about me that well... Plus I have a way to help the company grow even further. So much so that it’ll leave you staring in shock."
