Chapter 130: BOOM

Its body shimmered, muscles flexing and rippling, churning as steam escaped its mouth. As they watched, the monster reduced in size, as though its form was being forcibly compressed.

"Now what," Serdan said.

The Yeti had transformed into a smaller monster, the size of Manefor in his Blightfur mode. Blue eyes locked onto them, and it leaped. The ice beneath it surged like a wave, sharp spikes blasting forward.

Vale shouted, "Tiber, Slya! Get out of here!"

The monster hid inside the wave of cracking ice, letting it sweep through, freezing and unfreezing the looming ice as though it were the tide.

Vale opened his mouth, exhaling a wave of fire that melted the ice in front of him. Just as he intended, the monster flew out of the ice, wielding a chunk shaped like a club.

The monster swung it at Vale, the whirling motion making the air vibrate. He jumped back in surprise, the ice club missing him by inches, covering his nose with a thin layer of frost.

He jerked forward, intending to use the monster’s long reach against it, but the ground suddenly erupted with sharp ice spears jutting out.

Caught off guard, Vale began to create an explosion but wasn’t fast enough to avoid all the spears. Suddenly, something curled around his waist, yanking him back.

"It’s a sneaky bastard, be careful," Serdan said as the root from her rod deposited Vale by her side.

Vale nodded in thanks.

The monster roared and launched itself forward, but something black and red blurred and slammed into it, sending it crashing into the wall.

Manefor stood there before vaulting forward as the monster recovered and flew at him. The two clashed with bone-shuddering force, a blur of white and black crashing through the room, slamming into pillars and walls.

Their growls and roars shook the ground as they brawled with nothing but fangs and claws.

"Should we stop them?" Vale asked. Though his fire magic was weakened here, his massive core meant he could still brute-force a lot of things if necessary.

"I’ll do it," a voice answered. Dlodus, hidden and tied to one of the pillars by his lightning rope, began a soft chant. It was as though he’d brought the sky inside the room.

The area surrounding the fighting monsters darkened as clouds unfolded above them. Lightning flickered in the clouds, spinning faster and faster, the cloud and lightning looking almost one and the same.

"Get out of there now, Manefor!" Dlodus shouted.

’They must be used to each other’s fighting...’ Vale thought, watching in amazement.

Manefor flung himself away from the Yeti, its claws raking his back and adding to his weeping wounds.

Seconds later, the air cracked, and a thunderstorm began. Lightning fell like rain, twisting and slamming into the ground, immediately turning the area into a crater.

The monster roared in defiance as ice surged to meet the lightning, but the bolts shattered the ice with ease.

The monster convulsed, its muscles locking up, body jerking as its fur darkened and stood on end. Yet not a single wound appeared on the beast.

Dlodus frowned. "Why isn’t it dead?"

"Probably because it compressed its body," Manefor said, his own fur marred with blood but no visible wounds on his body. "It’s denser and stronger in this smaller size."

"Should I fry it again?" Dlodus asked.

Vale grunted. "That’s it. You all pass. Well, except for the short woman since she hasn’t shown anything since morning but that can be arranged later. I’ll kill the monster. You can wait outside if you like." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Serdan turned, scowling in surprise. "What? Short woman?"

Vale ignored her and the curious look Dlodus shot him as he walked toward the monster, which was still trying to twitch its body into working.

He crouched beside it, feeling the cold that warped around it, turning the surrounding into a chill spot similar to how he would heat up his surroundings.

Fury blazed in the monster’s eyes as it met Vale’s green gaze. Hatred and resentment was spewing through and its eyes heated with coldness.

He smiled and shook his head slowly. "You show so much emotion for a monster... I wonder if you can think."

As he spoke, Vale began forming Infernal Balls around him, binding the creature in place. The temperature rose instantly and the ice beneath him began to melt.

More Infernal Balls joined the others, hanging like fiery stars around him as if he was a giant moon anchoring them.

"The problem with this technique is that it takes too much time to create. But once you’re sitting quietly like a good boy," Vale paused, then shrugged, "or a good girl, it gives me the opportunity to make it."

"As I was saying, I’ve heard those higher in rank than you can speak monster language, even human speech. Really, I shudder to think what you’re capable of..."

Vale stood, combining the Infernal Balls around him. With each added orb, the combined one grew smaller.

By the time he finished, he stood in a cold puddle of water while the Yeti frantically tried to make its body obey. Dlodus had zapped it three times to ensure it remained paralyzed.

Vale extended his palm, a glowing red Infernal Ball hovering there. "Well then."

He dropped the ball on the Yeti’s chest.

Vale immediately created a small explosion to propel himself backward.

BOOOOOM!

The real explosion followed, the ground shaking as the room lit up in red. Heat and fire erupted, spewing dust and sending a shockwave blasting through the room.

Ice hissed and cracked, melting rapidly as the smell of burning fur filled the air.

Dlodus had already begun running before the explosion, but it still sent him ramming into a pillar, his head hitting the ice with a painful crack.

Serdan and Manefor braced against the shockwave, covering their faces from ash and debris.

Dlodus groaned from his spot, grimacing. "I knew it! I should’ve gone outside."
