Chapter 99: Grand Heist

"Calm down, Yutina. We of all wouldn’t dare lie to you would we?" Timtin stated, receiving no reply as Thelma even seemed to ignore him.

’She won’t be easy.’ He thought to himself, seeing how she had her eyes fixated on Alvin— having her deadly glare up.

"See, we might not have been clear about everything. But we’re early because we had met Alice, on the way to where you sent us." For some reason, her gaze shifted to him, though the glare persisted.

"That’s impossible, sh—"

"Well it was, she’d come with Anto since these sacks were beyond heavy for her." Thelma’s glare began to fade, her eyes going down as it seemed believable for her somehow.

"We couldn’t have simply came with them earlier, so we had to use the help of Anto. What’s with all the tension, here— jeez."

"If so, where’s Alice then?" A smile curled up his face for a second.

"She returned to the base, it—"

"Why would she do that when there’s a mission at hand?"

"I don’t know, Yutina. But she seemed much happy about returning back."

"Why? Di—"

"Chill out boss, Timtin just doesn’t want to get you all vexed up by telling you." Alvin chipped in, attracting her attention almost instantly, and without letting her say a word, he continued.

"Alice said she knew she wouldn’t be useful in this mission itself, since you didn’t give her any role in it." The words kind of hit her like a storm, as she seemed to have now realized that.

"I–I didn’t think it’d make her— not join." With her voice cracking, Thelma looked down onto the ground seemingly thunderstruck.

’Alvin, I’m impressed.’ Timtin glanced at him as he thought, both meeting each other’s gaze with the other smirking.

’What did they actually do...to Alice?’ Standing behind Thelma in a daze, Cony could only wonder what happened. As he already started regretting, what he’d signed up for.

"Hey, someone should give her a hug already!" Alvin was already heading towards her with arms wide open.

"Don’t even dare."

"Ouch, hehe. Well, Alice has a surprise for all of us when we get back." He announced.

"A surprise? What’s it?"

"Thelma, it wouldn’t be one if we even knew what it was." Timtin stated.

"Ah okay, I actually forgot about that. Sorry guys for earlier, why don’t we eat already— I’m famished." She suggested, trying to get everyone back on track and together, seemingly working out easy from how she saw it.

"Alright, Boss! Hurry up you slowpoke!" Alvin yelled out to Cony, who snapped out of whatever daze he was in.

"What did you guys even bring?" Thelma chimed, already heading towards Timmy or rather more to the sack he held.

"The Queen’s own special...!!" Timtin went to drop the sack gently on the large carpet at the center of the room. Taking his seat on it too, he smiled at Thelma who innocently stood right before him, eyes glued to it.

"Roasted Meats!"

"Yay!!!" She shot up into the air, her face beaming with a glimmer in her eyes and trajectory aiming down at the other.

"Whoa!!" Timmy reacted as fast as he could, instinctively and carefully shoving their sack of food away before—

*BAM!

"Did you feel the ground shake?" Alvin nudged Cony who stood beside him, receiving a nod in return. "Well, I thought so— poor Timmy."

"I LOVE YOU TIMMY! I LOVE YOU GUYS! YOU’RE ALL THE BEST!" Thelma yelled out, hugging him as tight as she could.

"I... can’t breathe..."

"Oops, sorry!" She sat up and looked at him apologetically, before a sinister smile propped up her face in the next second.

"Hey? How can you be getting all the hugs." Alvin quipped, attracting a deadly glare once again. "Hehe, just kidding– just kidding."

"Hmph, anyways..." Thelma turned back to the gasping figure beneath her.

"MORE HUGS FOR YOU!!"

"Huh?"The panting Timtin had barely recovered. When his eyes slid open, upon slowly processing the previous set of words. "What in the heav—"

*BURRRP!

"Hahaha, I knew Cony couldn’t hide it for long! Let it out, brother!" Alvin exclaimed, reaching into one of the sacks and bringing out a breastplate.

"Ah, this isn’t shiny enough right? What about the knight in shining armor." Holding up the piece, he examined it when suddenly his hands began to tremble.

"Wha—" The piece fell from his grip and went crashing towards the ground.

*CRACK!

"Whoa!" Just like those around, one of the bones had been crushed into dust. As those ones had definitely not entered Thelma’s grasp as a whole.

"Um, are you sure of your plan, Yutina?" Timtin gulped down hard, taking a glance at the armour as he said, while continuing to arrange the other sets, orderly before him. As those, didn’t carry much weight like the breastplates.

"Well, was there any better plan?" Thelma said, staring at the mirror she was using to apply touches of make up on her face.

"I get the part of it being a lady going into the bank to open an account, there should be at least two guards— us. The servant with the chest of gold being Cony. But do we have to wear such heavy armours, something light should do."

"Huh? But that’s the basic armour for a knight under the service of a noble." Thelma turned on the rotatable chair she sat on, facing the now stunned duo.

"Are you kidding me? Basic armour? Then knight’s should be very very strong then. Now that I think of it, aren’t they probably more stronger tha—"

"Don’t even think about it, Alvy. Knights aren’t comparable to Hunters. These armours seem heavy, but they’re nothing to Spiritualists. They can barely take a punch from one, these aren’t even used in battles yet you’re all whining."

"Hah, you know a lot, Boss. I always wondered who taught you all that?" Alvin inquired slyly, very much aware of what he was doing, though it failed as usual.

"Anyways, It’ll feel lighter than a loaded pouch when you keep it much closer to your chest." Thelma informed, returning to what she was doing.

"Thelma? We are disguising as nobles and knights, yet—"

"And a servant." She corrected, still on what she was doing.

"I know, that’s me of course. Yet, um, wouldn’t we need to make it real?"

"Real? How real are we talking about?" Thelma once again turned, her eyes closed as she seemed to apply something on it.

"Transport, nobles definitely don’t go somewhere without some, right?"

"A wagon?" Alvin voiced, like it was an answer worth a chest of gold.

"How could you— no, I’m talking about a carriage."

"Oohh, that— that would really make it real." Alvin stated, wondering how that

didn’t come up.

"Let’s say we have one? Who’ll be the driver?" Timtin said.

"The servant of course."

"Ouch. Why didn’t I see that coming?" Cony sighed at Thelma’s words. "Still—"

"Don’t worry, I’ve had everything sorted out earlier. What can’t I see coming guys— heh!" She returned to the mirror.

Seated there, the three glanced at each other upon hearing her latter words.

’Does she already know?’ Cony wondered, his hands getting sweaty just like his face.

’Ummm...’ Alvin’s gaze shifted between the two at each side, one confident with the other nervous. Though he himself couldn’t tell how he even felt.

’Let’s see, Yutina— let’s see.’ Smirking, he turned the armour and within it was something he’d never seen before.

"Patterns?" Timtin mumbled.

"No, they are called Runes."

Almost instantly, he looked towards Thelma, knowing at least what runes were.

"How? But— but these are for knights?"

"Well, the question is. Which knights?"
