Building An Empire Starting From The Labor Camp In Exile-Chapter 316: Is dead
"Pomora is dead," Atrox said flatly a moment after.
Tiber and Eryndor turned to him in surprise.
"What are you talking about, my lord?"
Atrox raised his hand, stretching out his palm, and right there on it was a necklace with a flat tip that seemed to carry more enchanted words than it should. "It is tied to my blood as the Clan leader and it will return when a Commander is dead. An automatic recall, if you will."
Tiber became quiet. Even he didn’t know what to say. Eryndor didn’t give much thought to what they were saying. His attention was on what was going on around them, guarding Atrox in the middle of a war.
"It’s too straightforward. The attacks. They know where to go and how," Atrox noted flatly.
He raised the necklace and activated it with his essence. The necklace glowed with a dull brilliance, the words on it shining red as if they were written with molten lava.
The wall, that seemed to have lost its luster, roared to life. But instead of a shield, all the energy from the wall seemed to gather to one spot and then shot out beyond the wall.
"What was that for?" Tiber asked in surprise.
The beam tore through the air, a gigantic pillar that drilled the air with the sound of a supersonic blast. A wall of sand rose up, but the attack drilled through all of them until at last it collided with a throne and the man sitting there.
But it had little effect on him, as the attack seemed to have been sucked in by the throne.
The Akatsuki Clan leader was now floating on the sand outside the wall, a grin on his lips. "How do you enjoy this, eh, Atrox Soryu? I wish you kids didn’t kill your father and he was truly able to see this. The day his Clan fell. The look on his face."
Atrox said, "That was for the Akatsuki Clan leader. Tiber, the wall is falling. They went for the enchantress as well, and somehow..."
Without warning, Atrox took Tiber’s hand and roughly brought it closer to the necklace. He used the sharp edges to cut a line in one of his fingers.
The blood dripped on the necklace and glowed.
He then dropped the necklace into his hand. "This is still connected to all the lieutenants and captains. You are the Commander for now, Tiber."
Tiber’s surprise was short. He nodded firmly and lifted the necklace to his mouth, activating it. He began in a calm voice. "Takoda? Are you there? We need your help directly in the front. You need to create a wall of distraction so that our people can escape and regroup.
"Yes, the Clan leader is safe. And we will be helping in the distraction. What? Five minutes? Alright."
Tiber nodded. "We need to disengage and give them the wall or all our soldiers will be slaughtered here. We thrive with formation and right now, with the storm, we don’t even know who the enemy is and how many they are."
They waited for five minutes that seemed like an hour before Tiber received news that Takoda was ready.
"All over. This is your Commander. All Knights retreat from the battleground. Give ground and... run. This is an immediate order. Now."
The effect was fast. Atrox saw several chunks of stones shot into the storms and begin to drag it. Because what Takoda did was create his own storm using stones, and he didn’t do it in a narrow formation way. He spread it in such a way that it was a direct counter to the storms.
The soldiers began to run back, and soon thousands were retreating. It was only then that Atrox saw just how tricky the storm devils were.
Some of the soldiers were heavily wounded, and some of them blinded with sand. Atrox’s hand twitched with the need to do violence, but he swallowed and stayed up. It would be stupid and rash for him to do anything, especially when everyone else was risking their lives.
"Eryndor, join Takoda to make sure that everyone retreated safely. No. It’s a direct order from a Clan leader. Tiber won’t leave my side. Alright, I’ll retreat as well."
It was only after Atrox began to run that Eryndor shook his body, and wings of red light burst out from his back, sweeping him forward towards the storms.

It was much later that Atrox was able to make sense of what happened. It was closer to morning and he was sitting in a temporary tent.
"Report," he said.
Tiber cleared his throat.
The tent held some number of lieutenants and all the Master Knights of the eastern army.
"The breach occurred underground. It seems they’ve been drilling their way there for some days now, since the desert sands appeared.
"They were well organized, and from the looks of things, they brought the bulk of their army. It was a total loss from our side. We lost our Commander and about one thousand two hundred. Together with the non-combatants, we lost one thousand five hundred, but it might be more because we’re still collecting more reports on that."
It was as if a heavy stone was thrown into everyone’s stomach. Normally, Atrox was the one who should be in the command center building since he was the overall Commander, but he had never put much thought into things like that.
Since Commander Petel was the one doing the day-to-day job, why disturb her? If he needed to give an order, he could simply summon her to his own smaller place.
It was something the Akatsuki didn’t put in their calculations. And why should they? The biggest place is usually the leader’s place.
Takoda grunted. "Sorry, Atrox. They brought three Master Knights and it was almost impossible to fight them off together with Pomora. We are simply stronger than them, but even then, a Master Knight is a Master Knight."
Atrox nodded. The three Master Knights had targeted the Commander’s command center at once.
