Chapter 312: Here I am

If Clan Leader Eirikr Akatsuki concentrated enough, he could feel and count the lifeforms gathered together in an area. So he had been following the fight with an absent mind while he dealt with something else.

At first, he thought the fight was dragging on, and he speculated that the enemy had invested in some really strong shield, but he knew it wouldn’t help them one bit.

Soon they would fall. That was just like the desert sand. Everything falls in the end.

But suddenly, things changed as if someone flipped over the whole situation. He had felt a sudden spike in the power of the enemy and then the reverse in his own soldiers.

The next instant, he felt nothing from his Storm Devils at all.

Eirikr sat up on his throne, his eyes widened. Something that shouldn’t be possible had just happened. "Impossible. Just like that, my forces were wiped out? What’s going on?"

He wasn’t angry, just so surprised it was as if he stepped out into the desert, and instead of finding sand, he was met with a large jungle.

"The Storm Devils have never been defeated by the people stepping into the desert. Not ever. Not even once. And what’s with that sudden spike in power?"

Eirikr was muttering to himself. "Just a hundred warriors, and they defeated a Storm Devil unit of three hundred? Just what happened?"

He stood up and paced, his eyes calculating. Finally, he sighed. "I don’t have my whole army to play with at the moment. I will have to deal with them quickly."

He went back to his throne and placed his hand on it, his eyes dulled. "Bjarke, go to this location and destroy them. Be quick about it too, so you can return to your position. Don’t question me. Just do as you are told."

Bjarke Akatsuki is a young Master, and he controls a whole division by himself. But before he became a lieutenant, he was a captain of a Storm Devils squad.

And becoming a lieutenant doesn’t mean he didn’t know how to be a Storm Devil. And so, when his father ordered him to go somewhere and destroy a single ship, he was pissed but also curious.

His father didn’t usually do something like that. Could it be a problem that he couldn’t solve by himself quickly enough, or just something he set up to kill Bjarke?

Eirikr has a lot of children, and he used them as he likes. Those who even manage to make it to teenagers should be glad. The man is the real devil.

But now that some of his children were grown, he was being extra careful because Eirikr knew that they would kill him and fight over the throne at the slightest chance they had. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

So he was doing his best to kill his devil of children as well.

But Bjarke still couldn’t ignore a direct order from his father. It would be the quickest excuse his father needed to cut his head.

So he picked his men, four hundred just to be sure, and of course the Wind and Sand Knight around them, and they raised into the desert.

It didn’t take him long to reach his destination, and what he saw immediately made him wary. His scout told him, and he didn’t believe it until he reached the place himself and saw the reason his father sent him over.

On the ground, like scattered toys, was the broken body of a Storm Devils unit.

"A Master Knight?" Bjarke had asked, ready to turn back immediately, but the scout dashed his hopes.

"No. I have studied the wounds, and it appears to be from different weapons. If there was a Master Knight there, then they are not the one to kill them."

Bjarke nodded. "Since it’s not a Master Knight, then there’s nothing to fear. Unless the Clan Leader of the Soryu was here, the one that claimed to be the strongest Errant Knight."

His warriors laughed when they heard that, but they weren’t their usual selves. They had all seen what they’d never seen before: the complete wipeout of a Storm Devil unit.

It made them wary and set them on edge immediately.

"Lieutenant, I have located them. They seem to be camping."

Bjarke frowned immediately. "In the middle of the day?"

"Yes. It seems their ship was affected in the battle, and they are currently repairing it."

"Are you sure there’s no Master Knight there?"

"None, sir."

Bjarke smiled. "Then let’s pay them a visit. I am curious about what happened here."

They began to walk to the place, and sure enough, Bjarke found them repairing their ship while the one hundred forces surrounded it.

Instead of using a storm, Bjarke walked over. And immediately, the two forces saw each other, they all swung into action.

They pointed their weapons over as their eyes sharpened.

Bjarke raised his hand. "I’m just here to talk about something. Where’s your leader?"

Slya didn’t step up from her place. "Here I am," she said flatly.

Bjarke blinked. Everything was getting more ridiculous to him by the minute. "You?"

It wasn’t that the Akatsuki didn’t value women or looked down on them. It was the opposite, actually. They knew the only way to continue in such a harsh place was to keep reproducing. Thus, they placed so much value on them that they ended up being too controlling.

Women were encouraged to do anything apart from being mothers, and those who stubbornly chose the knighthood and actually wanted it weren’t stopped, but things were made difficult for them because it’s a practice that’s absolutely frowned upon.

That was why Halvar becoming a Master Knight was so impressive.

Slya shrugged. "Yes, me."

Bjarke snorted, and his eyes flashed in anger. The girl was only half his height. "You better call your leader here, little girl, before I lose my temper."

Slya looked at Astra in surprise. It was the first time that someone would be challenging her post. She straightened. "I am the Captain here. Now, who are you?"

Bjarke smiled. "I am Lieutenant Bjarke Akatsuki."
