Building An Empire Starting From The Labor Camp In Exile-Chapter 311: Two stroms clash
The storm devils were dressed in brown clothes that would make them blend with the desert sands. They wore a scarf around their head and face, leaving only a small hole behind.
On their backs hung hooked blades.
And for an instant, they seemed to hang in the air. Storm and all seemed to freeze before they all shot down towards the sand like a sinking stone.
Slya blinked. "What in the... raise the shield!"
The storm devils sank into the sand and disappeared from view. Even the blowing wind calmed down, and if Slya hadn’t seen them personally with her eyes, then she would have argued with anyone that they weren’t there.
"Just what just happened?" Astra asked. His hand was on the spear, and it was tight. They’d all heard that the major problem to face were the storm devils.
It was one thing to be told about your enemy and another thing entirely to face an enemy, especially since one knows nothing about the said enemies.
"I don’t know, but be on guard," Slya said. She made sure her voice was firm and casual, as if whatever happens, she would handle it.
And that was enough to put the Knights at ease. The head affects the body, after all.
There was an instant of a few seconds that nothing seemed to move or even breathe. And then the attack began.
An explosion of sand erupted directly below them. The howling sound from earlier began again, and the storm rose once more. But this time, it was a sandstorm.
The storm struck the ship with a sharp twang, and Slya tried to get her footing as the ship rocked. She gritted her teeth. The automatic enchanted tools mounted at the edge of the ship turned, trying to find a target, but it was like trying to find a feather—a brown one in the storm.
Slya understood then why the storm devils got their name. They were like devils, striking without their body.
Only these ones had bodies, but Slya couldn’t see them in the midst of the thick sands. She smiled. "What a brilliant strategy that the Akatsuki are using. I’ll tell Atrox to make something like this! All weapons ready! Random firing!"
The sound of concentrated energy beams cutting through the air broke the roaring of the storm. Blue energy lit up the storm, but as far as Slya could tell, they weren’t hitting anything.
She gritted her teeth, eyes narrowed. The worst kind of fight was when the attacker saw what they were fighting, but the other side could only be a sitting duck.
Suddenly, something collided with their ship. The shield flared, shuddering, sending sparks into the air.
"No wonder the different missions failed."
The ship of the Bind Sky was made specifically to counter the storm devils from the little information they could gather. That was why the ship was bulky and couldn’t move with the same speed as the standard ships of the military.
But the problem she had right there wasn’t movement-related. It was simply the fact that she couldn’t see and know if she’s even hitting the enemy.
It made her angry. "The ship! Take the ship down, let it touch the ground. Today, we will destroy these people that call themselves devils and let them know what true devils look like!"
The ship shuddered again. Vibrations ran down it as it was sent grounding into the ground. Attacks collided on it, and the shield screamed, flickering as if it would snap at any moment.
Slya looked into the storm and knew that it would be difficult. But they were also prepared as well. They might not be able to see the enemies, but she knew that they were there, and that was enough for her.
More and more attacks landed on the ship, and the shield began showing signs of breaking down. Cracks ran down it, and essence began to leak out. It would break at any moment, and then the Bind Sky would be feeling the attacks on their bodies.
Slya wasn’t about to let that happen.
"One hundred man storm!" Slya shouted. It was a technique she actually created herself when the Bind Sky were sparring. And it was an attack inspired by Atrox.
If Atrox couldn’t figure something out, then he would just beat the shit out of it, putting absolute strength above anything else. So she reasoned that since they were given the bind weapons, there was no reason they couldn’t do the same.
The Knights took their place around the ship. They literally formed a big circle at the edge of the ship, facing outward. Since the fight began, the ship had concentrated its energy on making their shield strong.
They could feel the heat of the desert and the smell of sand that the storm brought closer to them. And between that all, the flicker of the human Akatsuki warriors between.
The shield would collapse at any time, and they would be hit by a storm of steel.
But they attacked first instead.
Each person raised their weapons and activated it. Blue hot white energy gathered around the edge in an instant and continued to gather. The ship lit up.
The power cracked, and it seemed as if the ship was wearing a crown of white fire. But that wasn’t the only thing. The weapons had amplified their powers. The essence pressure they could create had also gone up.
In that moment, it was as if four master Knights stood atop the ship.
The storm faltered, but it was already too late.
Bam! Bam! Boom!
The Bind Sky began to attack. It wasn’t uniform. It was all straight energy beam attacks, no pattern. Some were sword arcs, some were beams, and some were condensing the energy to shoot. Either way, they were all attacks and devastating in their own right.
It was as if a storm spread in a ring around the ship.
The attack ate into the sandstorm. Two storms clashing together.
The shockwave of the attack blew the sands away and destabilized the wind. The enemy became visible, and the next instant, another round of attacks went off.
They did it one more time just to be sure, but by then, the storm devils sent to them were already wiped clean.
