Building A Business Empire From Scratch In Another World-Chapter 204: Foundation Of Fire And Iron
The Morningstar Headquarters.
---------
The Morningstar Headquarters had transformed from a serene compound into a lively hive of activity.
From dawn until dusk, the headquarters bustled with energy. The rhythmic clang of hammers echoed from newly constructed workshops, while quills danced across parchment, signing contracts.
The air was thick with the rich scent of molten metal mingling with the earthy aroma of ink and parchment.
Caravans filled with artisans, smiths, and runesmiths rolled in daily, unloading tools and crates brimming with raw materials.
What was once a somewhat quite headquarters now resembled a bustling military camp mix with a forge, chaotic yet undeniably organised.
Servants guided newcomers along designated paths, clerks stamped papers bearing the Morningstar seal, and overseers shouted names and instructions until their voices grew hoarse.
At the eye of this organized storm stood Clara.
With her hair neatly pinned back and her plain robe clean and crisp amid the swirling dust, she moved swiftly across the courtyard.
One hand held a clipboard while the other pointed decisively at workers like a general commanding troops.
"Workshop Six,get those anvils inside! Rune Division, sign your contracts at the east wing; no exceptions! And someone tell those apprentices to distinguish between a forge and a kitchen before they accidentally burn down our facilities!"
Her voice rang out clearly against the stone walls, firm and authoritative.
Felix observed from above on the veranda. Leaning casually against a marble column in his immaculate white suit, he looked calm amidst the chaos below; however, the faint curve of his lips revealed his satisfaction.
Beside him perched Nixie on the railing like an agile cat.
Her pink hair bounced as she craned her neck to take in all that was happening below.
"Look at them, big bro!" she exclaimed excitedly. "It's like watching ants scurry around...expensive ants! Gold ants! Every clang of that hammer is basically coins piling up in our vault!"
Felix shot her an amused sideways glance. "Clara's ensuring those coins actually accumulate. Without her guidance, we'd have chaos instead of gold."
Nixie puffed out her cheeks defiantly. "I could handle it too! I have organizational talent!"
Just then, Clara shouted at a smith carrying an anvil incorrectly: "Left! Not right! Unless you want me to nail directions into your forehead!"
Nixie sweatdropped nervously. "…Okay, maybe not her kind of talent."
---
Later that morning, Felix met Clara inside the main hall where ink and parchment filled the air with their distinct scents.
Desks were cluttered with rolls of signed contracts as Clara stood confidently at center stage while two assistants shuffled papers under her direction.
"Report," Felix said simply upon entering.
Clara adjusted her glasses and flipped through her notes, determination etched on her face.
"As of this morning, we've secured the services of two hundred and forty blacksmiths, one hundred and eighty runesmiths, and fifty specialized glassmiths. All contracts are signed for three years, renewable. Salaries as you instructed...generous enough to buy loyalty but not so high that they grow complacent."
Nixie, trailing behind Felix with a mischievous glint in her eye, raised her hand.
"So basically we pay them well enough that they'll feel guilty if they betray us?"
Clara shot her a flat look. "Or grateful."
"Grateful or guilty, same difference if you ask me!" Nixie grinned cheekily.
Felix chose to ignore their banter, tapping the edge of the contract pile with purpose. "And workshops?"
"Four fully functional as of this morning," Clara replied smoothly, confidence radiating from her tone.
"Another three by the week's end. Each assigned to a different prototype: Stormheart Blender, Emberheart Stove, Frostborne Vault, and Tideweave Spinner. Teams are already divided; efficiency is high,at least for now."
Her pragmatic tone hinted at an unspoken expectation that mistakes would inevitably creep in.
"Good," Felix said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Bring me the prototypes!"
---
The first to arrive was the Stormheart Blender,a squat cylinder of polished steel adorned with faintly glowing runes along its rim.
It gleamed under the torchlight as apprentices carefully set it on the table before Felix.
He leaned down to examine the rune-work closely; the metal hummed softly with stored mana.
"Functional?" he asked expectantly.
One of the apprentices nodded eagerly. "Yes, Family Head! It's a low-tier version,we substituted Phoenix Feather Filaments with silver-thread conduits. Less precise but stable!"
Felix pressed the activation rune with a flicker of curiosity.
The blades within whirred to life, creating a gentle vortex that spun smoothly before his eyes.
He watched in silence for a moment before deactivating it with another flick of his fingers.
"Acceptable," he finally declared.
Nixie clapped dramatically beside him. "Acceptable? This is history in the making! And you're calling it acceptable?!"
"It will be better," Felix replied simply.
Next came the Emberheart Stove, sleek and rectangular but rougher than its high-tier blueprint suggested; its runes pulsed faintly along its surface like a heartbeat.
Before Felix could even voice his thoughts, Nixie bounded forward excitedly. "I'm testing this one!"
Clara froze in horror. "Nixie..don't you dare..."
But it was too late!
Nixie slammed her palm against the rune cluster, and with a dramatic roar, the stove flared to life.
Flames erupted across its surface, casting flickering shadows on the walls. For one heart-stopping moment, her pink hair sizzled as a curl caught fire!
"Ahhh! My hair!" Nixie shrieked, flailing like a windmill in a storm.
Felix, ever composed, extended his hand with a flick of mana that snuffed out the flame in an instant.
Meanwhile, Clara buried her face in her hands, trying to suppress laughter.
"I told you..." Clara began with an exasperated sigh.
But Nixie was unrepentant. She patted her hair frantically as if trying to reassure it.
"That was just a test! Very important stuff here, safety protocols and all that!"
Felix shot her a cool look. "Next time, maybe test something less flammable than yourself?"
The artisans in the room exchanged pale glances but couldn't help stifling their giggles at the absurdity of it all.
Once the comedic chaos settled down, Clara took a deep breath and steered the conversation back on track.
"The prototypes are functional," she announced confidently. "But we've got a problem: production speed is going to be an issue. Even with our talented artisans on board, demand will far exceed supply once we launch."
"Then we scale," Felix replied matter-of-factly. "Hire more people. Build additional workshops. Expand our distribution channels."
Nixie tilted her head thoughtfully. "But won't that make us targets again? The nobles are already drooling over bicycles! What happens when their kitchens get outdone by commoners cooking on Emberheart Stoves?"
Clara nodded slowly,"Nixie have a point".
Felix smiled faintly but his eyes sparkled with determination. "Let them drool and let them rage! As long as our foundation is strong, they can gnash their teeth all they want."
A brief silence hung in the air before Felix turned his gaze toward Clara, softening slightly. "You've done exceptionally well."
Clara blinked in surprise; compliments from Felix were about as rare as finding gold dust in dirt! Her assistants looked up too, equally astonished.
Felix continued calmly, "Your efficiency has accelerated this project beyond my expectations,we'll launch sooner than I planned."
Flustered yet pleased, Clara adjusted her glasses quickly to hide the blush creeping onto her cheeks. "Just doing my duty!"
Nixie grinned mischievously. "Don't let it go to your head now! Next thing you know, you'll be smiling like you mean it!"
Clara shot her a deadpan glare. "That would be your nightmare not mine!"
Felix chuckled softly, a gentle sound that sliced through the tension in the room like a warm breeze on a chilly day.
Later that evening, Felix wandered through the courtyard, the distant clang of hammers echoing softly as twilight settled in.
The workshops shimmered with light, smoke curling lazily into the darkening sky.
Blacksmiths hammered away with relentless energy, runesmiths etched intricate designs with meticulous care, and overseers barked commands like conductors leading an orchestra.
What had once been chaos was now a symphony of productivity, everything falling into place.
Standing at the heart of it all with his hands clasped behind his back, Felix took a moment to soak it all in.
The foundations were laid, artisans had been gathered, and prototypes were taking shape. The launch was just around the corner!
But beneath this excitement lurked shadows where enemies stirred, reminders that challenges lay ahead.
Yet deep down, Felix felt a thrill, he knew this was just the beginning of something extraordinary.
