Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game-Chapter 651 - 354 Apocalypse Escape_4
The air had become extremely tense, as if it might break at any moment.
"Who allowed you into the kitchen, who allowed you to make me breakfast?" Joshua Hughes’ icy tone and grim visage froze Evelyn Yates’ smile instantly.
Is he upset?
She had gotten up early to busy herself making breakfast for him, yet he was upset?
"Joshua, I just wanted, I just wanted..." Evelyn Yates was almost out of breath under the weight of his questioning tone.
"Have no thoughts at all. This year, if I want you to offer your body, that’s all you do. Do you understand? Don’t go doing pointless things," Joshua Hughes said coldly. How naive she was, thinking that doing this would make him see her differently?
"How can you say that? Joshua, I truly love you." All her early morning busywork received no reward, not even a cold rejection; Evelyn Yates’ eyes welled up with large teardrops, gazing piteously at Joshua Hughes.
"Your tears are worthless here." His thin lips smiled mercilessly. Tears from a different woman had an entirely different effect.
Her tears were beautiful, tiny droplets falling like precious little diamonds on her cheeks.
It made one reluctant to let them fall, made one want to cradle her face tenderly, to gently kiss away those tears, made one want to softly kiss her eyes so her tears would stop flowing.
"You should know very well who does what in this house; don’t let her break the rules." Joshua Hughes looked at the housekeeper with his head lowered, this old man had been with the Hughes Family for many years, so he did not embarrass him too much.
But today’s event truly displeased him; what did Evelyn Yates think she was, the lady of the house?
Utterly ridiculous.
The phone on the dining table rang, Joshua Hughes glanced at it, stood up and answered the phone as he walked out.
The housekeeper spoke solemnly to Evelyn Yates, "Miss Yates, please don’t make things difficult for me again in the future. It’s better for you to follow the rules; young master won’t be pleased to see you doing these things."
This woman assumed the role of the lady of the house, stubbornly entered the kitchen to boss around, causing him to utterly lose face.
Evelyn Yates shot the housekeeper a resentful look, this old coot, the moment she becomes Mrs. Hughes, the first one to get the boot would be him.
"Mr. Hughes, I just received news that Miss Avery Jane has run away; today is the second day of filming, yet she’s already at the airport. Now her agent has rushed over, don’t know if they can stop her?" The manager at M.C Headquarters reported, sweating profusely.
Because at that time, there were orders from above to keep a close watch on Avery Jane, every move had to be reported to Mr. Hughes.
Additionally, there were many stipulations, like no underwear ads, no silk stockings ads, no co-ed ads, nothing requiring risque exposure was allowed; now there’s nothing they dare arrange for her. Given her good fortune, she spends her days idly drinking coffee in the lounge, yet she’s run away.
Was she too bored for her own good? Truly alarming.
Joshua Hughes hung up the phone, this really was something, this woman always made him feel fresh and entertained.
Just when he thought she would stubbornly and tenaciously resist and struggle against him to the end, she was as timid as a rabbit, escaping.
His entire body surged with excitement, as if on the brink of a hunt, the restless, wild sensation in his blood filled his body.
She was about to belong to him, the countdown had begun, this realization inexplicably exhilarated him.
Avery Jane handed her documents to the security personnel, she would soon be boarding the plane, she was about to leave this place.
She no longer had to worry about that man’s devilish presence appearing in her life whenever he pleased, disrupting her previously calm life.
"Miss Avery Jane, there is a slight problem with your passport, you cannot board at the moment. Please wait in the lounge, we will inform you if there’s any news," the security personnel looked over her passport, cross-checking it, indicating it was indeed Avery Jane.
"What could be the problem? I’m about to board soon." Avery Jane felt a hint of doubt; what could be wrong with her passport, the time was pressing. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"We’ve received instructions not to let you board, please go to the lounge first, don’t affect other passengers boarding, okay?" The security personnel smiled, inviting Avery Jane to step away, as the queue continued to grow longer, murmurs of frustration began from the crowd.
How was it possible that she couldn’t board?
