Chapter 313: What If She Was Never Found

A confident smile came onto her face as she noticed how Andrew stopped walking when she said that.

"You know, and judging by your reaction you know that Anne is in my hands. I can kill her if I want." She jumped down the bed confidently and strolled towards Andrew.

"I look just like her, talk just like her. How did you still know that I’m not her?"

Right now Clara wasn’t afraid of him, his precious person would die if he tried to hurt her, he wouldn’t be able to do anything to her so she spoke openly.

He had said something about wanting to punish her by feeding her to sharks. Clara knew Andrew was ruthless, he would destroy her completely but good thing she had something over him.

To be honest, deep inside she was hurt, deeply hurt.

She had envisioned life as the Sterling mistress, she had thought she could stay with Andrew forever even if she has to remain Anne forever.

That little dream of getting his love, the little dream of being his wife, was all shattered by his deep love for Anne. He already figured her out so easily.

Clara hated how much he loved Anne, hated that it wasn’t her he gave this affection instead, hated that even after doing all this, altering her looks, her voice, her body just for him, he still would never be hers, and because of this, she would hate him deeply from now on.

Andrew suddenly gripped her by the neck, his fingers tight enough to cut off her air supply.

That’s not her!

His heart had said the minute he’d walked into the estate to see her approaching him, but he’d doubted it at the time. Wanted to believe it was just a silly suspicion.

He didn’t have to spend more than a second to recognize the woman he’d lived with for almost a year now.

Her soft innocent smile, he’d memorized it in his heart.

Her eyes, a beautiful natural brown shade, he knew them so well.

He knew how she walked, how she talked, how she ate, how she smiled, how she looked at him with nothing but love in her eyes.

How could he not know all these things, when he loved every single detail about her.

Every single day he found joy and peace watching her, not once had he enjoyed anything as much as he enjoyed being with her.

How could he not know when another woman was now standing in front of him in her place.

This wasn’t just a small change or a difference because she’d given birth, this was a completely different woman.

His heart could tell...and his mind could damn well tell as well.

Was he that easy to be fooled?

Andrew tightened his grip on the woman’s neck. He could guess who it was behind the mask of his woman’s face, but what was so baffling was how she’d done it.

She didn’t just look like his wife on the face but her voice as well, and her body.

"Did you really think you would get away with impersonating my wife?" Andrew growled with all the fury he was feeling in his heart.

Earlier, his mind had confirmed the suspicion when she had told him his daughter’s name.

How could he not know that this person wasn’t his Annelise, he should have listened to his gut at the very start.

His poor Annelise, she must have been so frightened, she had just given birth!

The thought of Anne had made him calm his anger, stopping himself from making any hasty movement. If this wasn’t his wife, then his Anne was somewhere, most likely somewhere this imposter knew, and if he alerted her, Anne might very well end up getting hurt. So instead of exposing Clara immediately, he had contacted his men instead, they scoured the entire city, but who would have thought she would be found inan underground basement at the very hospital she had given birth.

His grip on Clara’s neck tightened and there was a deadly murderous look in his eyes.

"And... Andrew if you kill me... you’ll never see her again!" Clara smirked deviously despite the evident pain on her face.

"Oh really?" Andrew said unfazed.

"I knew from the very moment I saw you that you couldn’t possibly be my wife. I confirmed when you gave my child the wrong name, but why did you think I kept you here for this long if I already knew you were a fucking fake?"

Clara seemed to be in thought before realization showed in her face.

There was no way...

"That’s right, I found my wife first. You didn’t think I would put my wife in danger by alerting you first did you?"

Hearing that, Clara began to struggle for him to let her go.

"You chose death the moment you walked into this house pretending to be her." Andrew’s finger became even tighter and Clara’s fake brown eyes rolled backwards.

"Andrew!" Shawn immediately interrupted, "Don’t do it."

Andrew’s phone rang again and he immediately released Clara picking up the call, his eyes lit up and he suddenly grabbed Clara who had fell to the floor by the arm, ignoring whatever Shawn was saying as he dragged her downstairs.

"Andrew! What do you think you’re doing to her, she’s your wife!" Elder Sterling who was downstairs yelled furiously when he saw how Andrew handled who they thought was Anne.

Andrew tossed her to the floor in the grand hall.

"That’s not my wife."

Having heard Elder Sterling’s shout, everyone rushed over to the hall, even Jasmine who was holding the baby she had taken from her nanny.

When she came downstairs, her eyes collided with Shawn’s and she stiffened, but looked away then turned to the fake Anne on the floor.

"Anne!" She cried, rushing forward but Shawn hurried over to stop her.

"That’s not her." He informed.

"What are you talking about? That’s obviously Anne, why are you treating her like that?" Jasmine yelled in Andrew’s direction.

"She is not my wife, she’s an imposter."

He suddenly left the hall heading outside and immediately he opened the doors, some men dressed in all black attires were supporting a weak looking woman, even from a distance everyone could see Anne’s face.

Shock registered on their faces and they all looked incredibly astonished.

There was Anne on the floor, but there was another at the doorway.

Elder Sterling who had been sitting stood up.

How could this have happened? How was this possible?

When Andrew saw Anne, she was walking with difficulty. Her eyes were filled with tears that kept falling. The hospital gown she was wearing was dusty and dirty, her hair looked unkept, she was the very picture of exhaustion.

His throat become incredibly heavy, something seemed to sting his eyes and his heart constricted painfully.

He rushed up to her, surveying her from head to toe for any injuries. When she saw him, she smiled through the tears.

"I knew you’d find me soon Andrew." Her voice was low and hoarse, but it was the exact same voice he loved deeply.

He had wanted to rush out the doors to find her himself when he realized it wasn’t her, but he had to remain so he wouldn’t alert the culprit to hurt his wife, discreetly sending people to find her.

He had been extremely nervous, what if she was never found?

What if she had been harmed?

If someone could replace her, they might have harmed her in that time.

His heart had been heavy and all he could do was quietly remain with their daughter, every second blaming himself, he had failed her.

He had failed to protect her!

With a heavy bitterness in his throat he pulled her into his body, crashing her fiercely against him as he held her tightly.

"I’m sorry..." His voice came out husky and tinged with heavy emotions. "I’m so sorry, I should have protected you, I should have been there."

Anne held onto him tightly.

At that time, all she felt was regret. Regret that she hadn’t seen Andrew one last time, regret that she hadn’t hugged her daughter for long enough.

Seeing everything happening, Elder Sterling’s eyes turned cold as he looked at Clara who was still on the floor.

Clara threw her head backwards and laughed hysterically.

"I underestimated you Andrew Sterling! I should have killed her right there."

Gabriel instantly rushed forward and grabbed her by the hair looking deep into her eyes.

"It’s you isn’t it? You psychotic bitch, I should have known you were capable of something this crazy."

She smirked at Gabriel.

"So the bond of marriage is true, who would have thought it would be you, my ex husband who would recognize me despite the disguise." She seemed to have fully lost her senses at this point, not caring what would happen to her or what they would do to her since she had failed.

"Call the authorities Gabriel, I’ll make sure she never gets away with this." Elder Sterling instructed.

"Oh no grandfather, we’ll peel off this disguise first and make sure she suffers before we give her up."

Andrew no longer seemed to hear anything going on around him, he hugged Anne for a very long time before carrying her upstairs.

"Forgive me dear child, how could something like this happen to you under our care?" Elder Sterling personally came to apologize to Anne several hours later when she had been settled in their bedroom and examined by doctors.

"It’s okay grandpa, she planned it well. No one could have seen it coming." Anne herself didn’t anticipate Clara could go that far. All Clara had done were petty schemes and paid to have her killed, she never thought she could actually find a method to take her own face just to replace her. How despicable did a woman have to be to think of something so horrible?

Andrew spent hours taking care of Anne, he hired a new batch of medical team to look after her. She hadn’t undergone any of the necessary postpartum medical treatments, so it was started all over again.

Thankfully, the minions Clara hired hadn’t yet been able to get her out of the hospital’s underground basement not to mention hurting her, the worse they’d done to her is sedate her heavily which was flushed out of her system.

When it was all over, Anne had already fallen asleep and Andrew stayed religiously by her side not shutting his eyes a wink, he held her hand and stayed there as hours passed through the night.

When it was almost dawn, Andrew made a call to someone. His eyes were cold and merciless.

Clara’s punishment...he would deal with her himself.
