Chapter 485: Chapter 485: Weakness

Her main concern surfaced sharply in her mind.

Without hesitation, she redirected her attack and hacked into Louis’s mother’s account.

The moment the data unfolded before her eyes, her breath caught.

This woman, who boldly claimed that Olivia was not good enough for her precious son, had climbed the social ladder herself through far less noble means.

She had once been nothing more than a driver’s daughter. That driver, honest to a fault, had died saving the family head, and under pressure and obligation, the eldest son had been forced to marry her.

That single event changed her fate entirely. She rose in rank, step by ruthless step, and clawed her way into power.

By the time she secured her position, her husband’s first love had already given birth and was raising the child.

In every sense, Louis’s mother had been the third party. This, Aurora realized, was the precise reason Louis harbored such deep resentment toward his own mother.

He could never understand how power alone could matter so much that it would drive someone to insert herself between two people who were already in love and even had a child together.

Meanwhile, Louis himself was still trying to crawl out of this muddy swamp.

He wanted freedom, but freedom required strength.

Slowly and cautiously, he was building his own power.

To his illegitimate brother, that growth looked like a direct threat, one that needed to be crushed.

Attacks came one after another, some orchestrated by Louis’s mother, others carefully arranged by his brother. Their interests aligned more often than not.

’If I move against one, the other will retaliate,’ Aurora reflected grimly.

’That won’t do.’ If she wanted to deal with Louis’s mother, she had to ensure that Louis’s brother was taken care of as well. Both of them needed to be eliminated at the same time, cleanly and decisively.

Her fingers tapped rapidly against the keyboard once more, the sound sharp and rhythmic in the quiet room.

Plans formed, merged, and refined until something solid emerged.

A plan good enough to leave no loose ends. Once everything was executed, Aurora finally stood up, stretching her stiff limbs as tension slowly drained from her shoulders.

The moment she stepped out of her room, the sharp ring of the doorbell cut through the air.

She walked toward the door at an unhurried pace, checked the peephole, and then opened it. Sure enough, the outsider was Adam.

"What are you doing here father?" Aurora blurted out as she stepped back.

Adam walked inside, his gaze steady as he looked at her. "I’ve brought good news."

Aurora straightened immediately, alert.

"Hans, Milo, and Lovely have been punished," Adam continued. "They’ll most likely be detained for twenty years straight."

Her eyes widened in disbelief. "How could their sentence be decided without any court filing?"

Adam exhaled lightly. "They confessed. Lied to the police, contradicted themselves, and even skipped parts of the legal process. In the end, they admitted they didn’t want to fight the case anymore."

Aurora was taken aback. ’That doesn’t make sense,’ her thoughts raced.

She never imagined Hans, Milo, and Lovely going down without a fight. Something about it felt wrong, deeply suspicious.

As if sensing her unease, Adam added loudly, "Maybe, for once, something good is happening for us."

Aurora shook her head slowly. Her mind worked at breakneck speed, running through every possible scenario.

’Was this Louis’s mother making a move? Or was it his brother clearing the board?’ 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Either way, none of it felt favorable. The calm before her felt fragile, like glass ready to shatter at the slightest touch.

Of course, what Aurora did not know was that Victor Hawthrone was the mastermind.

The origin of everything was laughably small, almost insignificant, like a spark that should have died out on its own but instead ignited a wildfire.

It all began with Isabella, Victor’s daughter.

She had been nursing ambitions of entering the marketing and land development sector, dreaming of carving out her own empire and proving that she was more than just her father’s shadow.

The scent of fresh opportunity had thrilled her when she finally discovered a gap in the market, a space wide enough to build something massive.

Yet, just as she was ready to move, Lucas had already stepped in. He had not only built a company around that very gap but was also raking in staggering profits.

The realization hit her like a slap across the face. ’How dare he?’ fury burned in her chest.

At first, she thought of crushing him directly, barging into his business and taking everything.

After all, in her eyes, he was a nobody, someone who should have known his place.

But then the name Ms. Dawn surfaced in her thoughts, and her anger intensified, sharp and acidic.

Still, she was unwilling to give up such a large slice of the pie. From her perspective, whoever dominated this market now would earn far more in the long run.

Left with no viable alternative, Isabella went to Victor and poured everything out in front of him.

Victor listened, his fingers steepled, his expression unreadable as he analyzed the situation alongside his daughter.

Once he understood just how vast the market could become, his decision was swift and ruthless. He would support Isabella, no matter the cost.

Rather than wasting time on subtle corporate games, Victor chose a bloodier shortcut.

’If the Waters family disappears,’ he reasoned coldly, ’then Ms. Dawn will lose the people she supports.’

Without that emotional anchor, Ms. Dawn would naturally pull away. It was simple in theory. They just needed to be discreet, precise, and fast.

Thus, Hans, Milo, and Lovely were approached. The plan was elegant in its cruelty.

They would make it appear as though Hans, Milo, and Lovely had been forced into confessing, while Adam would be painted as the true villain.

Once the Waters family name was dragged through the mud, they would have no choice but to seek out Ms. Dawn.

At that moment, Victor, along with a few other powerful billionaires, would apply pressure. If everything unfolded as planned, the Waters family would be finished, because Ms. Dawn would be coerced into abandoning them completely.

As Aurora unraveled this chain of events, she could not help but sneer inwardly.

’How childish,’ she thought, irritation prickling at the back of her neck.

She had effortlessly traced the transactions between Victor and Hans, Milo, and Lovely.

On top of that, gaining control of their surveillance cameras had handed her their entire plan on a silver platter.

She genuinely could not comprehend how they believed a scheme riddled with so many flaws would succeed.

What Aurora did not realize was that, under normal circumstances, their plan was nearly flawless.

The problem was not the plan itself. The problem was her.

Her skills were so far beyond their expectations that even if luck favored them, it would never be enough to bridge the gap between them and Aurora.

Once Aurora had gathered all the evidence she needed, she organized it meticulously, every file labeled, every transaction highlighted.

Without hesitation, she forwarded the entire package to Victor, her fingers striking the keys with cold precision.

In the message, her tone was calm yet sharp, carrying an unspoken warning that this childish game of his would soon come back to sting him painfully.

On the other end, Victor was buried in business emails, the faint smell of coffee lingering in his office as night settled outside the glass windows.

When a new mail notification popped up, he almost ignored it out of habit. Then his eyes caught the sender’s name. Ms. Dawn. His spine stiffened instantly, and without another thought, he clicked it open.

As he read through the contents, color drained from his face.

The evidence was airtight, merciless, and laid bare every move he had tried to conceal.

A chill crawled up his back. ’I miscalculated,’ he admitted inwardly. Panic flickered for only a second before he composed himself. His reply was swift, almost humble.

"This was my greed speaking. I acknowledge my mistake and am willing to compensate accordingly."

Yet even as those words left his screen, his mind was already spinning with alternative plans.

’Retreating doesn’t mean surrender,’ he told himself.

He needed another way, a cleaner way, to drag the Waters family into the mud.

Initially, he had not paid them much attention, seeing them as nothing more than collateral. But Ms. Dawn’s fierce protectiveness toward the Waters family gnawed at him now.

’Why would she go this far?’ he pondered, tapping his fingers against the desk.

’Do they possess something she desperately wants?’ A more dangerous thought followed. ’Or is Ms. Dawn herself part of the Waters family?’

If that were true, withdrawing completely would be the logical move. However, Victor was not someone who believed in restraint once a weakness was exposed.

In business, weaknesses were meant to be exploited, no matter the cost. He wanted to confirm whether the Waters family was truly Ms. Dawn’s Achilles’ heel.
