Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Tuberculosis

Mrs. Lancaster blinked at her, and Rose instantly quietened down. Instead, her eyes fell on the person beside Aurora.

Spencer.

Who doesn’t know him?

He was the crown prince of the wealthiest family in New York.

But the question was...what was he doing with Aurora?

Did Aurora’s godmother introduce him to her?

How lucky.

Rose couldn’t help but have different thoughts.

The Waters family wasn’t rich. Spencer’s family would never agree.

On the other hand, her family, though not as rich as theirs, is at least wealthy.

Not to mention, she was much more beautiful than Aurora.

Hence, with a standard smile, she said,

"Yes. And bring Spencer along. He can help you mingle with other elites, too."

Aurora’s eyes narrowed. However, before she could retort, Olivia interrupted,

"Hey Rose, give up if you have any thoughts about Spencer. He loves Aurora since childhood and will never leave her."

Aurora: "..."

She turned her head, wanting to see an embarrassed expression on Spencer’s face, but he was surprisingly too calm.

As if what Olivia was talking about wasn’t even a fact to be questioned.

Auror wanted to clap for Olivia and Spencer.

They both could lie with gritted teeth.

How come their words make her seem as if she and Spencer were childhood sweethearts?

Rose was furious. She thought, she had masked her thoughts very well, but to her shock, Olivia still see through it.

What was even more outrageous was, Spencer didn’t correct Olivia at all.

Did he want to save the dignity of the Waters Family?

Yup...that seems more possible.

Taking a deep breath and forcing out sweetness in her tone, Rose continued,

"Olivia, you are misunderstanding me. I won’t eye a junior, until and unless they come on their own."

Her words were ambiguous.

In future even if she got together with Spencer, she would make sure that Spencer takes all the blame.

Olivia rolled her eyes and exposed Rose on the spot,

"Rose, Spencer would never take the initiative to be with you. Anyways. Please leave. I don’t understand why you all even visited.

With such an attitude of coveting other’s boyfriends and trying to twist other’s words while apologizing...I think it would have been better if you had stayed at your home. Now leave."

She even waved her right hand in their direction, as if she were shooing them away.

The faces of the Lancaster Family fell.

But they swallowed the bitter pill and left.

Once they left, Olivia took out a sanitizer and started to spray the area where the Lancaster Family was seated.

Aurora giggled, seeing her so serious.

Olivia’s hate for the Lancaster Family could be seen on her face.

"Don’t laugh, and protect your boyfriend." She warned as she collapsed on the sofa.

Spencer was delighted when Aurora didn’t refute Olivia’s words.

By the evening, Spencer had left.

Before he left, Aurora transferred him $10 million and said,

"Go and buy a mansion. You will live in it from now on. And tell me the address. I will visit it daily."

The amount of shock the sentence gave to Spencer was hard to describe.

He knew about the Waters family’s finances.

So, how could Aurora afford $10 million?

"Where... did you get so much money?" he finally asked, voice low but trembling a bit.

Aurora narrowed her eyes. "Are you questioning me?"

Immediately, Spencer raised both hands.

"No! No, I’m not questioning you. I’m just worried. Aurora... you’re not doing anything illegal, right?"

His voice dropped to a whisper, and his brows knitted with concern.

"Because if you are, I... I’ll still protect you. But I’ll be really scared too."

Aurora blinked, caught off guard by the genuine anxiety in his tone. She had expected suspicion, not such soft-eyed worry.

A faint smile tugged at her lips. "Relax. It’s legal." She waved her hand in a mock dismissive way. "At least... legal enough."

Spencer’s mouth opened slightly like he wanted to ask more, but he stopped himself.

She wasn’t going to tell him, that much was clear. Still, he felt strangely relieved. At least she didn’t deny him being part of her life.

He shifted on his feet and looked at her thoughtfully.

"Then... since you’re being so nice to me, I should probably pay some interest."

Aurora tilted her head. "Interest? What interest?"

Before she could realize what he meant, Spencer leaned forward and gently pressed a quick kiss on her cheek.

She froze.

He immediately turned away like he was running from a crime scene.

"I-I’ll let you know the address of the mansion once I buy it! Bye!"

The door clicked shut behind him.

Aurora stood there, her face burning.

Her hand instinctively touched her cheek. Did that really happen?

The worst—or maybe best—part? She hadn’t hated it.

In fact... her heartbeat was slightly faster, and her lips were curved in a smile before she even realized it.

She groaned and plopped down on her bed. "Ugh, what’s wrong with me?"

Just then, there was a knock, and Olivia’s voice floated in. "Aurora? You decent?"

"Yeah. Come in."

Olivia popped inside, eyebrows already wiggling with teasing energy.

"Sooo... heard lover boy ran out blushing like a tomato. What did you do to him, you minx?"

Aurora covered her face with a pillow. "Nothing!"

"Don’t ’nothing’ me." Olivia grinned, sitting at the edge of the bed.

"I saw his face. That’s not a ’just friends’ look. That’s a ’she kissed me and I don’t know how to breathe anymore’ look."

Aurora groaned louder. "He kissed me! On the cheek!"

"Same difference," Olivia sang. "You both are clearly obsessed with each other. It’s cute. Like those weird high school dramas."

"Stop embarrassing me," Aurora mumbled, peeking from under her pillow.

"Never. It’s my job." Olivia winked and then stood up.

"Anyway, I’m glad you’re not dead. I’ll leave you to your ’omg-he-kissed-me’ moment. Byeee!"

As Olivia left, Aurora shook her head, trying not to smile too much.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed.

She looked down.

Bank Notification: +$50,000,000.00 has been deposited into your account.

Her eyes lit up.

"Jackpot."

The rebate had come through again.

She smiled lazily and dialed Emily.

"Good evening, Aurora." Emily’s voice answered. "What’s up?"

"I need you to stir up a little trouble for the Lancaster family," Aurora said sweetly.

Emily laughed. "Ooh, sounds like fun. What kind?"

"They came over earlier, trying to act superior and drop some manipulative nonsense at my house. I think it’s time they get... occupied."

"Ohhh. I’m already on it. Let’s make their week unforgettable."

Aurora smirked. "I trust your creativity."

The next morning, Spencer showed up at Aurora’s house again, face slightly tense.

"Someone’s trying to cause trouble," he said, frowning.

Aurora yawned and waved her hand.

"Don’t worry about it. I’ve got people. Let them have their fun. We have more important things to discuss."

Spencer tilted his head. "Like what?"

Aurora leaned forward, eyes gleaming with mischief.

"From today onward, I’m going to kiss you every day. You’re not allowed to stop me. Only exceptions: if I’m sick or you are."

Spencer’s face turned crimson in an instant.

"W-what?" he stammered.

"You heard me." She folded her arms, very pleased with herself. "And you don’t get a say."

Spencer nodded slowly, his whole face heating up. "O-okay..."

Aurora grinned, enjoying his flustered look. "You’re cute when you blush."

Spencer was about to respond when he leaned forward, hesitantly, eyes flicking to her lips.

But just before he could kiss her, Aurora gently pressed a finger to his chest.

"Stop. I’m sick. I don’t want to infect you."

Spencer frowned. "I don’t mind—"

"Well, I do." She looked him in the eye. "So wait."

Spencer sighed dramatically, but nodded. "Fine. But the moment you’re healthy..."

"Then you better be ready," Aurora teased.

The rest of the day passed with Spencer helping her out, making her soup, checking her temperature, and fussing like a worried nurse. Aurora secretly enjoyed the attention.

Three days later, Aurora woke up feeling completely refreshed.

She bounced out of bed, got dressed, and headed off to school.

The campus was buzzing with activity—homecoming week was in full swing. Streamers, balloons, music, laughter.

Mia spotted her and ran up, throwing her arms around Aurora.

"You’re back! I missed you!" she cried.

"I missed you too." Aurora hugged back. "I feel much better now."

But as they walked into the hallway, Aurora noticed something odd.

Groups of students were quietly stepping aside as she passed. Some even held their breath.

She frowned.

"What’s up with everyone? Did I grow fangs while I was gone?"

Mia huffed. "Ugh. You didn’t hear?"

"Hear what?"

"That witch Caroline has been telling everyone you have tuberculosis."

Aurora blinked. "Excuse me?"

Mia nodded angrily. "She said if anyone comes near you, they’ll catch it too. Like you’re some walking disease."

Aurora raised an eyebrow.

"Wow. That’s a new low. I’ve had my share of illnesses, but TB was never one of them. Nor any contagious one."
