Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich-Chapter 80: He’s More Powerful Than You!
Chapter 80: He’s More Powerful Than You!
Noah was surprised to unexpectedly run into Lucas Graham at the dinner party. He had just learned that this man was his Uncle Jared Morgan’s father-in-law.
Matthew moved closer to Noah. "Sir, the man in a dark green suit approaching us is Lucas Graham..."
"Hmm, I know," Noah briefly replied.
He already knew about it through Zoe, who kept him informed about the people around him.
’What terrible luck! Why did I run into him just as Morgan and Graham were about to clash?’
Noah took a deep breath.
"Noah Morgan...? Are you Anderson Morgan’s lost son?" Lucas Graham asked, eyeing the man before him.
When Noah was about to answer, suddenly Edgar’s voice rang in his ear, "Noah, avoid Lucas Graham. Whatever business he offers, steer clear of him. Otherwise, that man will ruin your life, just as he did to mine!"
Noah was shocked to hear that.
Suddenly, a strong urge to hit the old man in front of him overtook him, but after a moment, he tried to calm his mind.
"Yes, I am. I’m sorry, may I know you...?" Noah asked politely while accepting his warm handshake and gentle smile. However, inwardly, he was cursing him repeatedly for bringing misery into Jason’s life.
"My name is Lucas Graham... I’m sure you already know who I am." His tone sounded like a commander speaking formally to his troops.
If Noah didn’t have mental strength, he might feel nervous standing before Lucas Graham, as the strange aura around him was overwhelming. It was the first time he felt such pressure.
"Yes, sir. I saw you appear on the news several times. It is an honor to meet you."
Noah responded, deliberately avoiding any mention of Morgan. He hopes this older man will understand that he only comes back to the family for a few weeks.
However, Noah’s hope faded when he noticed a few lines on Lucas Graham’s forehead as he stared sharply at him. It was enough to tell that this old man didn’t seem to like him.
"Young man, listen carefully," Lucas Graham said softly, leaning in closer to Noah. "You’re new to the family, but I hope you don’t follow the example of the other Morgans. I want you to be like your father, who chose not to get involved in the family drama."
Noah slightly frowned as he met Lucas Graham’s piercing gaze.
"Sir, could you clarify what you mean?" he asked, feigning interest in the man’s plan for the Morgans.
"I’m Jared Morgan’s father-in-law, or rather, soon-to-be ex-father-in-law. You understand what I mean, young man. Well, I enjoy discussing other topics with you, such as a business offer for your father’s company, but I need to greet Mr. President first... see you around, young man," Lucas said before leaving Noah.
"Yes, sir—" Noah responded briefly as he saw Lucas Graham walking with a few people trailing behind him to the front area at the VIP table.
"What an interesting man," Matthew commented as he stood beside Noah, his gaze following his line of sight at Lucas Graham.
"Hmm, he is indeed interesting. And, it seems he will soon crush the Morgan Family," Noah glanced at Matthew. "I hope the fall of the Morgans won’t keep you in trouble..."
Matthew nods to reassure him, saying, "Not at all. Your father has already set a clear path for you. There’s no need to worry about the company, sir."
Noah said nothing more to Matthew, but his mind was now filled with Jason. He clearly remembered his earlier words about Lucas Graham.
"Jason, are you there?"
He was worried that Jason would come into this room and kill Lucas Graham. It would be terrible if that man decided to take revenge on Lucas now.
"Yes, I’m here."
"Are you alright?"
"Yes. I’m doing well, even after knowing that man was your uncle’s father-in-law. And I’m feeling ecstatic because that bastard was publicly humiliated. Sorry, Noah..." A chuckle rang from the other end, causing Noah to smile.
"We only share the same last name, Jason. And just so you know, I only found out about his father-in-law, Lucas Graham, last night," Noah explained casually as he strolled toward the corner, trying to stay out of sight.
"Haha, I understand. However, Noah..." Jason’s tone gradually became more serious. "Please remember what I warned you about — that man is truly a devil in disguise."
Jason’s words were enough to shock Noah. As if something triggered him, his gaze slowly shifted back to Lucas Graham, and somehow, he noticed something he hadn’t seen before.
Noah was left speechless upon witnessing a dark aura, like a black flame, encircling Lucas Graham.
’What the hell is that...? Zoe, did you see what I saw? Why is there a dark flame around Lucas Graham?’
’Yes, I saw this since the first time you talked to him. However, I hesitated and didn’t warn you, worried you might be shocked or frightened when speaking to him, sir.’
Noah was even more stunned. He silently swallowed before expressing what was on his mind at this moment, ’He is the person I look after? The person from the list?’
’Yes, sir,’ Zoe’s calm voice echoed in Noah’s mind, sending a shiver down his spine.
Then, silence.
Noah was lost in thought, gazing at Lucas Graham.
No wonder he had never encountered him all this time; Lucas Graham was someone who rarely appeared in public places like bars, restaurants, or clubs.
Now, knowing his target holds such a high position in the country and has a thousand soldiers ready to fight alongside him, how could he confront him?
Noah’s heart tightens as Lucas Graham suddenly looks in his direction, as if sensing he’s being watched.
He turns away, calls the server, and requests a glass of wine to soothe his dry throat.
’Zoe, how powerful was he?’ Noah asked while sipping his wine.
’More powerful than you, sir. Even though you can feel his presence through his aura, you can’t see his true form...’
