Bloodline of the Wizard-Chapter 374 - 182: Mechanical Heart, Elemental Life, Searching for the Magic Box_3
Chapter 374: Chapter 182: Mechanical Heart, Elemental Life, Searching for the Magic Box_3
These Elemental Life cores with innate spirituality are of considerable research value, especially for Wizards who follow the Summoning Stream and Puppet Stream.
Ronan can keep it for his own research, or trade with others.
Through the ice of sealing, Ronan saw that the so-called Elemental Life core was a half-palm-sized rusty metal disc.
One corner was missing, and it was covered with traces of metal corrosion.
One side was engraved with the image of a rhinoceros, and the other side with a few lines of tiny words, which due to extreme age, were corroded to the point of being blurred—barely able to make out a few Dwarf Language words like "Sha.. ba...".
Ronan took a quick glance, then stored it in his Space Ring before taking the time to observe this ancient Secret Realm before him.
At this moment, he stood on a long street.
The street was very spacious, wide enough to accommodate at least eight carriages abreast.
The entire street was paved with metal, with traces of rune engravings in many places, while the sides of the street were lined with metal buildings of varied heights, primarily in shades of black and brass, conveying a distinctly heavy and solid feeling.
These metal buildings were typically tall and ruggedly designed, yet the doors to the buildings were not high, a characteristic of Dwarven architectural style.
Both the street and the buildings, having lost the nourishment and protection of the Rune Formation, were rust-streaked and crumbling after the long passage of time.
Many buildings bore marks of being struck by Spells, likely the work of Wizards who had explored here previously.
Ronan activated his Flying Ring, slowly ascending, his field of view simultaneously expanding.
With the rise in altitude, Ronan realized that the Mechanical Heart Ruins were much larger than he had imagined.
He estimated he had ascended four to five hundred meters and still couldn’t capture the entirety of the Mechanical Heart in his view.
In all directions, there were stacked metal buildings resembling building blocks, amidst which threads of reddish-brown, blackish-brown, and silvery-brown smoke wavered and rose, akin to wisps of cooking smoke.
"The Mechanical Heart is like an incredibly large city state..."
Ronan looked down at everything beneath him, imagining in his mind that thousands or even tens of thousands of years ago, this place had once thrived with a highly prosperous Dwarven civilization.
Later, for some unknown reason, that civilization fell.
All Dwarves left, and the magnificent city state was abandoned...
Ronan pondered, slowly taking out the golden gear left by Schiper’s Surprise Magic Box after he had opened the entrance.
He hadn’t forgotten the true purpose of his visit to this place.
The small golden gear hovered in front of Ronan, rotating at an extremely slow pace.
Kosti had told Ronan that between Schiper’s Surprise Magic Boxes, there was a special resonance; one could find one Magic Box using another.
He tried to move through the air, his figure also descending, to get closer to the tops of the buildings in the city state below.
His spiritual power was closely monitoring the rotation speed of the golden gear.
Yet Ronan soon found that although this gear indeed served a certain "guiding" function, like a compass, his method of search was too inefficient.
Or rather, the resonance range of the gear was too small.
Or possibly, the density of Schiper’s Surprise Magic Boxes within the Mechanical Heart was too low.
"It’s not unlike trying to fish out a needle in the sea with a tiny magnet..."
Ronan pursed his lips, continuing to move according to the gear’s guidance while contemplating ways to improve his efficiency.
He did not deliberately avoid the metal Elemental Lives roaming around the city state, and would suppress any he encountered along the way, thus accumulating quite a few Elemental Life cores.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Sounds akin to something constantly striking a tightly closed door.
Ronan stopped, his right hand stroking his Space Ring in circles, his gaze flickering slightly as if pondering something.
After a moment, he calmly twisted the Ring.
"Whoosh—"
A grey shadow shot out rapidly from the Space Ring.
And then, with lightning speed, it darted toward the golden gear floating mid-air.
"Click!"
Dudor Short Tail III stretched his neck, staring greedily at the golden gear within reach, his pink tongue extended to the max, desperately trying to lick the edge of the gear.
Unfortunately, his entire goat neck was held tightly in Ronan’s hand, and the few centimeters’ distance had become an unattainable vast chasm.
"Baa~~"
After fruitless attempts, Dudor Short Tail III looked at Ronan with pitiful eyes, filled with a longing gaze.
"Do you want to eat this?"
"Baa~"
Dudor Short Tail III nodded, and Ronan’s expression shifted slightly, gaining a new understanding of the spirituality of the lame Grey Mountain Goat in his hand.
"This thing is very important to me..."
The light in Dudor Short Tail III’s eyes dimmed.
"However..."
Ronan thought for a moment and then said: "If you can take me to find more boxes containing this thing, I might consider giving it to you."
"Baa~"
Dudor Short Tail III responded, its little goat head immediately turned in one direction and its four short legs kicked forcefully in the air, as if it couldn’t wait to take Ronan there.
"Really now?"
Ronan blinked, feeling a hint of surprise.
He had just thought since this Puppet Grey Mountain Goat had been in Mechanical Heart for who knows how long, it was truly a native.
It might know where Schiper’s Surprise Magic Boxes were hidden, so he decided to give it a try.
He didn’t expect it to actually act as if it knew, which surprised him.
Ronan released his grip on Dudor Short Tail III, protected the spinning golden gear in his palm, and then said lightly: "Let’s go, lead the way."
Dudor Short Tail III gave Ronan’s hand a deep, longing look, then dashed off in one direction with its short legs.
This fella feeds on metal but disregards the metal strewn all over the ground inside the city-state of Mechanical Heart Ruins.
Ronan speculated whether it was because these metals had rusted and decayed, and being a "royal pet goat" used to luxury, it simply disdained these "metal grass" which were "no longer fresh."
"Its spiritual power is so strong, it’s almost stronger than the spirit of the Dawn Rank silver cane within the Mirror Garden Secret Realm..."
As Ronan followed behind Dudor Short Tail III, his eyes sparkled, and he secretly planned that when he had time, he must dismantle the lame goat completely and thoroughly study it.
Even if this guy wasn’t the pinnacle of Mechanical Heart Dwarf civilization Metal Puppet forging technology, it was certainly of an extremely high standard.
If he could figure out the dense and intricate runes and Arrays inside its body, maybe he could deduce a powerful Metal Puppet Magic lineage.
Soon enough, Dudor Short Tail III led Ronan to a certain location.
Following behind it, Ronan watched as the creature charged into a huge hemispherical black metal structure like bursting through a layer of brittle paper with a "thud."
After a few breaths, it scurried back out carrying a dark object.
And behind its rear... it seemed something was following with "thud thud thud," the heavy footsteps resonating, as if a massive creature was rapidly approaching.
Ronan stood in front of the hemispherical black metal building, watching Dudor Short Tail III carrying a metallic magic box "whoosh" behind him, then cautiously poking its head out from between his legs.
He didn’t check whether the Magic Box in its mouth was the Surprise Magic Box he was looking for, instead, he stared intently in the direction of the breaking hole from where the heavy footsteps were coming.
