Blood Queen Reborn-Chapter 8 Daily Routine
Erin woke up early that morning.
Losing her ice powers felt very real in her nightmares, thankfully nothing of the sort could ever happen—
Until she tried to put ice cubes into her water, reminding her that all of that did in fact happen last night.
"Right, I had lost my powers because of—" Erin began thinking, before she was interrupted by a pinging notification from none other than Quinn.
{Quinn} I was thinking last night about my book, and I think I have a theory as to what happened.
{Quinn} What if it opened because it needed both of our hands to touch the book?
{Quinn} Or you got most of the system because your hands were more bloodied than mine.
"My hands were...?" Erin thought for a moment, but then remembered what the doctor told her.
Immediately, Erin lifted her shirt to look at where she was stabbed the previous day, only to find that it had completely healed.
"That’s... strange," Erin concluded.
{Quinn} Honestly, I’m still pretty mad that you stole my book.
{Erin} Shut up.
{Erin} I didn’t even want your stupid book.
{Quinn} Well— sorryfor trying to figure out how to fix this. I don’t want to see everything you’re doing with the system.
{Erin} You sawme?!
{Quinn} I only saw the windows and tabs! I swear it was nothing else!
{Erin} ...
{Quinn} Why was I able to hear those 3 dots?
{Erin} Are you kidding me?
In Quinn’s dorm room, he was still laying in bed, having not yet gotten ready for the day. He glanced over to where his glasses were on the night stand and put them on. He was trying to think of something else to say to her, but he wasn’t sure what exactly to say, and if he even should. If this whole shared system thing was permanent, then it would spell a major issue for the two of them. After thinking about it for who knows how long, he realized what to say.
{Quinn} Look, we’re linked together somehow, whether we like it or not.
{Quinn} So let’s try to be nice to each other.
{Erin} Sure, only if you don’t drag me down.
Back in Erin’s dorm room, she was thinking about the quest tab as it was the only other thing that wasn’t locked, and it automatically opened up for her. There, she was able to see the quests that were available to her.
[Main quest]
[Reach level 10]
[Daily Quest: Drink two liters of water]
[Reward 5 exp]
"Drinking water seems simple enough," Erin thought, already holding a glass of water.
Determined to see if the system tracked water absorption in real time, Erin drank her cup of water and watched the number go up to half a liter. She then placed her cup in the sink to refill it, but started to get impatient. There was only one and a half liters left she needed to drink, so she checked the fridge of their kitchenette. Inside, Erin found a large bright pink water bottle and drank it, getting the last bit of water needed to complete the quest.
Erin genuinely didn’t know who the bottle belonged to, but she didn’t care. There’s been more than enough times when one of her roommates stole her leftovers in the fridge despite her name clearly being on it. It was only fair.
[Congratulations, you’ve completed a daily quest]
[5/100 EXP]
"This is going to take forever..." Erin grumbled out loud, placing her palm on her head while sitting on her bed. She held a hand to her stomach, not really liking the fact that she drank so much water for breakfast.
{Quinn} Kinda strange how I know you’re drinking water...
{Erin} Mind your business.
{Quinn} Remember, this is just as weird for me as it is for you.
{Erin} How? You know exactly what it is I’m doing, meanwhile I know nothing about you.
{Quinn} If it makes you feel better, I just got out of the bathroom.
{Erin} Ew, I didn’t need to know that.
{Quinn} Sorry, I’m just trying to help.
{Quinn} And I’m sorry for acting like that last night.
{Quinn} I haven’t really talked to a girl that much before, and I’m now suddenly linked to one.
{Erin} Just talk to me like a person— god— it’s not that hard.
{Erin} Girls are people, you know.
Before Erin could continue to read any more messages from idiot boy, her brunette roommate got up from her bed, looking exhausted.
"Beast weapons class is killing me," she pouted while stretching back.
Erin looked over to her roommate, who was already leaving for the bathroom.
"Hey, Erin..." her brunette roommate spoke sleepily, slowly blinking her eyes open.
That was when she realized what water bottle Erin was drinking from.
"Is that mine?!" The brunette girl accused, pointing at Erin.
Erin glanced at the water bottle, then at her roommate.
"No."
—
As Quinn was up doing his morning routine, he had almost forgotten his incident with Erin, until he was reminded by a system notification screen about drinking 2 liters of water.
"That’s right..." Quinn mumbled, which caught the attention of his roommate, Fex.
"What’s right?" asked his roommate from the sink.
One of his roommates was named Fex. Fex was the kind of person who seemed to care about his appearance a lot as he wore a black dangly earring and meticulously combed his gelled hair to perfection. There was also something about Fex’s naturally charmingly handsome looks that was always clear of acne without needing to so much as touch a droplet of water, unlike Quinn’s acne-ridden face. His eyes were also bright red, which would’ve been quite strange to see over a century ago, but people with unusual hair colors and multicolored eyes were not as uncommon with how widespread abilities had become.
"Uh, I um..." Quinn didn’t know how to respond, "I just remembered something I needed to do for class, don’t worry about it."
"Okay man, good luck with that," Fex said before scooping gel from his obnoxiously large tub onto his hair.
Quinn took notice of his other roommate, Peter, who was yawning as he was struggling to get used to the school’s early morning schedule.
Peter was Quinn’s second and final roommate. The two were actually quite similar to one another in that they both had black hair, wore glasses, and weren’t muscular unlike their other classmates. If people didn’t know any better, they might just assume the two were siblings at first glance, but that was where their similarities ended.
Peter’s hair was straight and grew out to his shoulders, while Quinn’s curly hair only grew out to his ears. Peter’s glasses were round and in better condition compared to Quinn’s square ones. Quinn was short and scrawny, but not as much as Peter was. One of the biggest differences between the two was that Peter had freckles and Quinn didn’t, along with Peter having monolid eyes and Quinn having slightly tanner skin than him.
Stretching his arms, Peter looked over to Quinn, weakly waving, before leaving the dorm room.
Seeing as there wasn’t anything else for Quinn to do, he decided to join Peter in the cafeteria.
