Chapter 550: Return -53

Perhaps she couldn’t yet have the final say in the domain, but she had indeed become a lord acknowledged and pledged to by the nobles of the Northern Land.

Of course, being nobles, gaining the recognition of the majority of her subjects required more effort on her part, and if one day not only nobles but also numerous subjects came to welcome her, that would prove she had truly won the hearts of the people.

"Meow! Lord Charlotte! You’ve finally returned! Master Cat has missed you so much, not being able to see you these days! I haven’t had a good meal in days!"

A sycophantic but robust voice came from the side, and a large black ball rolled in front of Charlotte.

It took Charlotte a moment to recognize that it was Black Cat Nisi.

Having not seen him for almost two months, the fellow had apparently gained weight again.

"Ha, haven’t had a good meal? Lord Nisi, you really should take a good look in the mirror, check out your figure, and think about whether your face is turning red when you say such things."

Sebastian sneered, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Nisi immediately glared back:

"What do you know?! This is what you call ’depression fat’! Master Cat has been missing Lord Charlotte so much these days, always feeling downhearted, and could only find solace in eating!"

"Depression fat? Isn’t it simply because, without the master’s restraint, you’ve become lazy and gluttonous?"

"Meow! Slander! This is outright slander! You, an elf full of ill-intentions, always backstabbing! Truly the shame of all elves!"

"No, I have never backstabbed anyone; I merely state the facts about a lazy and gluttonous pet."

"You! Meow—! You’re driving Master Cat mad!"

Nisi, whose cat-mouth was clearly not as articulate as Sebastian’s, was infuriated to the point of bursting.

"Meow... Lord Charlotte, this fellow is bullying people again. Where has Master Cat been lazy? Master Cat diligently watches over the house and even spares his free time to mentor the spellcasters at the Count Mansion, having even written a book on the secret technique of ’Bloodline Awakening’. Master Cat really is having a hard time!"

Nisi threw himself in front of Charlotte, sobbing out his words.

His overly plump body and rough voice attempting to act cute was somewhat eye-watering.

However, Charlotte didn’t seem to mind.

It was only when she heard the words "the secret technique of Bloodline Awakening" that she recalled something, and her face darkened instantly.

"Enough, quiet down. Let’s head back to the city."

Charlotte spoke.

Then, she turned to the two old viscounts:

"Lords Roman Fuer and Lien Castel, please accompany me."

Upon hearing Charlotte’s words, Viscount Lien Castel’s face brightened with joy, while the usually stern Viscount Roman Fuer also showed respectful manners.

They bowed to Charlotte, then mounted their horses, one on each side, following beside Charlotte’s carriage.

To be able to follow the lord in such proximity was a sign of the lord’s recognition and favor.

Though they were elderly, both viscounts were, after all, Transcendents, and quite capable of riding.

"Let’s continue."

Charlotte commanded.

She didn’t even glance at Nisi, closing the window curtain once again.

"Hey."

Sebastian gave Nisi a provocative look, tilting his chin up haughtily.

Nisi’s already dark face seemed to grow even darker.

He glowered at Sebastian, muttered a few curses under his breath, but when his gaze drifted towards Charlotte’s carriage, his unsettled eyes grew somewhat guilty. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

Could it be... had he been caught in a misdeed again?

Nisi’s mind raced, pondering whether he had any compromising past that had been exposed recently.

Meanwhile, Charlotte had already stopped paying him any attention.

The Castel convoy continued to move, with the welcoming nobles gradually joining the procession, following behind the vehicles, heading towards North Port.

...

"Count, the post-war reconstruction in North Port is nearly complete; however, the northern domains still need some time. Though we now have support and aid from the Count Mansion, the remaining financial gap is quite significant, relying only on local lords, it will take a considerable time to recover."

"Thanks to the previous naval battle, Shallow Water Street in North Port was destroyed in the conflict, and City Hall has taken this opportunity to demolish most of the buildings on Shallow Water Street and has planned a new district construction on the mainland outside the island, which is currently being orderly promoted."

"Castel College has been officially established, using the Legris Family’s manor within the city as the campus, and the first batch of students has been recruited, totaling 67, with the vast majority being commoners, as not enough legacies and enthusiasm among the nobles, most still opt to hire private tutors."

"Moreover, about half a month ago, the Church’s investigative team in the northern region completed its investigation of the Castel Domain. Following your instructions before you left, we’ve reported everything about the relics, and the final conclusion of the Church is that the Blood Demon Church is to blame."

"The relics have not been sealed and continue to be under our control. However, after investigation, there’s nothing left in the relics but ruins."

...

North Port, Count Mansion.

Having returned to her domain, Charlotte rested little before she sat in the study to hear Viscount Lien Castel’s report.

Although she had left her domain for only two months, the Northern Land had not been idle, everything progressing according to Charlotte’s original plans.
