Chapter 544: -51- Rumors_2

"Gods are a group of ’parasites,’" Charlotte thought to herself, "and since I am one as well, I might as well find more ’hosts.’"

Perhaps the increase in power from non-Bloodline "hosts" does not yield as much benefit as that from Bloodline believers, but they are numerous, and small contributions can add up to a substantial amount of Divine Power.

As for whether the pure power from non-Bloodline sources might cause other issues because of its mixed nature...

Charlotte wasn’t too worried.

As a Blood True Ancestor, devouring the power of bloodlines was her ability. No matter whose bloodline power her believers possessed, as long as the power increase flowed through the Faith Network, she could successfully absorb it.

This was her "Mythical-level" exploit.

With this thought, Charlotte took a deep breath and walked towards the library.

The Royal Library was currently managed by the Royal Family’s Mage Group, and the arrival of the Castel family’s carriage had already alarmed the Mage Apprentices managing the library.

As Charlotte approached the grand entrance of the library, the library director, dressed in a Mage’s robe, came to greet her with great enthusiasm:

"Count Castel, welcome to the Royal Library."

Such was the dignity of the Great Nobles.

Though the Castel family was not of duke status, their position as the foremost under the duke was enough to make many Kingdom Nobles look up to them.

Even a visit to the Royal Library was treated with high regard.

Upon seeing the library director, Charlotte gave a slight smile and signaled to Sebastian to present the VIP library pass that Louis V had given her, saying,

"Director, good day. I am here today to borrow some books on Transcendent matters."

With the sight of the VIP pass, the library director became even more respectful:

"Count, please follow me."

Following the library director, Charlotte entered the Royal Library.

The interior of the library appeared larger than it seemed from the outside, likely using some form of Space Magic, and the books were numerous, spiraling upwards in their arrangement.

Many people had come to borrow books, most of whom were dressed as nobles, and the rare few who were not appeared in uniform.

Charlotte glanced and recognized that they were students of the New Moon Kingdom’s Royal Magic Academy, its highest educational institution.

The Royal Library was open only to two types of individuals, nobles and students of the Magic Academy.

As Charlotte entered the library, her presence naturally drew many curious glances.

Especially when the library director and the Royal Mages eagerly followed by her side:

"Who is that? She has the library director all worked up? And with so many Royal Mages accompanying her?"

"She’s not in uniform, not a student of the academy, looking at her attire and demeanor, she must be a high-status noble."

"Could it be... a princess from another country?"

However, some recognized Charlotte’s identity:

"That’s Charlotte of Castel, the Jewel of the Northern Land, Saintess of the Royal Court, and the wealthiest, youngest Countess in the New Moon Kingdom."

"Hissss... is that the girl who spun Third Prince’s Divine Soul around with just one glance, to the extent that he even waged war to have her?"

"Quiet! What sort of nonsense is that, you should stop listening to rumors from the pubs in the Outer City District!"

"But... she really is stunning, if it were me, I’d probably wage war for her too."

"I told you, stop listening to those fanciful stories from the taverns!"

Charlotte: ...

Although the speakers had deliberately lowered their voices, thanks to her Bloodline’s heightened Spiritual Sense, Charlotte heard everything crystal clear.

Thanks to a series of recent events, she was indeed a celebrity now in the Royal Capital.

Eyes fell on her, filled with curiosity, admiration, reverence, or hostility...

Hostility?

Charlotte was somewhat surprised; she had not expected to encounter hostility while visiting a library. As she extended her Spiritual Sense, she was suddenly astonished.

The hostile gaze was not from the nobles.

Instead, it was from some uniformed students from the Royal Magic Academy.

"Is that the Countess of the Northern Land?"

"I heard she’s been acting tyrannically in the Northern Land, persecuting many Transcendents and even drove the subjects to rebellion, and that the Third Prince dared to wage war because internal strife had already started."

"It’s truly sinful; these nobles, one after another, care nothing for the lives of the common folk for their own desires!"

"Seems frail on the outside, but a devil at heart."

"I heard she even declined her appointment as a Saintess..."

"Must be feeling guilty, right? Even the Church is rotten."

"What use is beauty? Ultimately, this world looks at Transcendent strength, without power, even nobles cannot maintain their status; such cruelty will surely face retribution in the future."

"You are not aware of the full story. Though she appears young and fragile, she is already a Silver Moon Mage."

"Already a Silver Moon? Isn’t that even worse? The Northern Land’s subjects are truly pitiable."

"Isn’t that the case! Despite her pure appearance, I heard she’s quite depraved in private, and her so-called celibacy declaration is said to be just a cover for her private life."

"Indeed, the nobility... none of them are decent!"

Charlotte: ...

She had certainly not expected to hear such outrageous rumors.

One can’t please everyone.

Although Charlotte was aware that as long as she continued to strengthen her rule over the Northern Land and expand her influence, such rumors would never cease, nor would those harboring hostility towards her, but she hadn’t expected the rumors about the Northern Land to reach such preposterous levels.
