[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 84: Ch : Welcoming a New Prince
Lady Sera’s question caused everyone to turn their attention to the bundle in Shuu’s arms. There was only so much that was shaken like that and was to be handled carefully.
So, of course, people began to gossip.
"Is that a child? But how...?"
"Is that why he had been missing? Did he get some unfortunate soul pregnant?"
"But then, where is the mother...?"
People questioned as they looked at Shuu. Their whispers reached Lady Sera as well, and she felt a desperate need to see the baby.
Shuu tried to pull the baby back, but Sera was much faster and stronger than him. So she took the baby and took a good look at him.
"Hmm... let me see..."
She spoke softly, but her words froze in her throat as golden eyes looked back at her. The face looking back at her was an exact copy of Prince Kaiden, all except those golden eyes. Even the black hair was the same shade as the crown prince.
’What is this...? Did Prince Kaiden get someone else pregnant...? No way-! He won’t do that to me. He has never spent a night with anyone else except-!’
Her eyes came to rest on the person in front of her, and her careless actions showed off the baby’s looks to others as well.
There was a tense silence as everyone took in the baby, and even the maids flinched.
Prince Kaiden moved and gently grabbed the baby from Sera’s arms before handing him back to Shuu.
"Once again, I would like to welcome you back to the imperial palace. Come, I will show you to your new rooms."
Prince Kaiden’s actions were sending a message-he was accepting Shuu and the baby as his.
As for what happened here, people came to a quick conclusion.
It was not a secret that the imperial family was special in every way. There had been records of male imperial companions giving birth to imperial family heirs, so it was not a new concept.
However, the timing of it all seemed far too much like a coincidence. Not to mention, the baby looked just a few days older than Lady Sera’s.
With so much going on, a new question appeared in everyone’s mind-who would be the next successor.
Usually, it was the son of the queen, but there was no queen. So the next eldest made the companion’s child the heir to the throne.
But Lady Sera had much more backing from the nobles and had a good bloodline...
’Tsk, this situation just got a lot more complicated than anyone expected. I knew that Shuu was going to be a problem. I just did not expect him to be this huge of a problem.’
Liam watched all this happening from the sidelines, wondering where things had gone wrong. He should have pushed harder for Prince Kaiden to stay away from Shuu.
But Reina and Nero had helped Shuu and Prince Kaiden’s relationship. And this was the end result.
He wanted to say something, but even he knew that saying anything now would be akin to a death sentence.
So he quietly followed the pair inside, and Prince Kaiden led them down the imperial hallway where the most important people, aka the imperial family, lived.
"You can use this room. My room is not that far away. If you need anything else, then please let me know."
Prince Kaiden was making it extremely clear where Shuu stood in the hierarchy. It was also a warning for others not to belittle his position.
However, Sera was the one who could not take it any longer and decided to speak up.
"I... do not agree. This room is supposed to go to the empress. If you do this, then what about me and our son...?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
She asked, and everyone paused to look at her with pity and curiosity. They wanted to know where she stood with the crown prince now that things had become like this.
"I gave you the west section, so surely you have enough space. But if you need more space..."
"That is not what I mean...."
Sera quickly spoke up, and Prince Kaiden just sighed. He was purposely ignoring the message she was trying to send him.
His actions should have made it clear that he no longer trusted or saw her the same way. But for someone like Lady Sera, who had been at the top of this world for so long, it was impossible to see.
Moreover, she might have the west wing, but Shuu was being given a room in the imperial family’s section. It was supposed to be her room, and the significance of this did not escape her.
She looked around for help, and finally, her father stood up for her.
"Prince Kaiden, it might be a little much to give your ex-companion this room. It might tank his reputation if he is placed here all of a sudden. Why don’t you allow Sera to take care of him? After all, as the future queen, it will be her duty."
Count Diltz stressed his words, causing everyone to look at him.
The servants were waiting with anticipation to see what Prince Kaiden would say about this. His words would change the trajectory of power in the palace.
That was what Count Diltz wanted from the start. But it was unfortunate that it came with such a difficult situation for him.
Once he had the ex-companion and his child with him, he would make sure to make them "disappear" for good this time, no matter what it took.
"Future queen? I am afraid that Sera is too immature for it. Besides, I am not sure I can trust her with Shuu’s safety after all this time. And what could be more secure than the internal walls of the imperial family’s space? Or do you want to confess to something?"
Prince Kaiden asked, and Count Diltz looked like he had been dealt a heavy blow.
He staggered and stood still, but he was certain of one thing-he and his daughter had lost Prince Kaiden’s favor. But it was not over for him just yet. As long as he had Sera’s son, he would always have a chance to aim for the throne.
