[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 69: Ch : Tea Party- Part 2
’This is so uncomfortable. Just how long will I have to sit here and pretend to smile? My cheeks have started to hurt as well.’
Shuu asked himself the same question for the third time as he accepted the cup of tea Lady Sera had poured him.
The tension around the table could be cut with a knife, and the whole room was focusing on their table, wondering what would happen next.
Lady Sera broke the tension and stood up. Her actions highlighted her dress and showed off the golden splendor to everyone.
"Everyone, welcome to this special guest party. Today, I would like to have the honor of introducing the person who helped Prince Kaiden a lot on his journey and is now his ex-companion-Shuu."
The lack of a last name told people that he was a commoner, and a subdued response was heard from all around.
Shuu remained seated, but his sharp hearing picked up people talking about him and his ’background.’
"Tsk, he just got lucky to be picked up by Prince Kaiden."
"He cannot even dress properly for the occasion. Compared to everyone else around the table, aren’t his clothes too plain? I mean, look at the splendid dress Lady Sera is wearing. One would think she’s the guest of honor?"
"Who says she’s not? And of course her dress is impressive. No matter how much Prince Kaiden likes the commoner and cursed one, in the end he will always choose Lady Sera."
The more people spoke, the more Shuu did not feel like listening to them.
But Lady Sera looked happy enough with this gossip.
Cough
"Lady Sera, your dress is splendid. Did you choose this fabric yourself?"
Prince Yunn asked, causing everyone to be left stunned. After all, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was enemies with her.
Even she was suspicious and became guarded.
"That is right. I chose this cloth, and Prince Kaiden gifted me this cloth."
She spoke carefully, and her words made Prince Yunn smile even more.
"Oh! No wonder. So you chose your clothes yourself, while my brother must have chosen for his companion, right?"
Prince Yunn asked, turning toward the crown prince.
Prince Kaiden had remained quiet and neutral all this time, but this time, he did agree.
"That’s right. It was my gift to Shuu as my companion. Why, did you not like it?"
Everyone felt even more convinced that Prince Kaiden was just making a show of caring for Shuu. After all, why would he have given him such shabby clothes otherwise?
But Prince Yunn’s next words left everyone in stunned silence.
"To say that I am shocked does not even begin to cover how I feel. I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that you gave imperial silk to your companion. Even Lady Sera never wore it, right?"
A stunned silence followed Prince Yunn’s words, and everyone turned to look at Lady Sera, who had gone pale all of a sudden.
Her eyes begged when they looked at Prince Yunn. She was begging him to let this not be true.
But Prince Kaiden just shrugged.
"Sera will get a chance to wear imperial silk in the future once we have a kid. As for Shuu, I just wanted to make his first public appearance memorable."
Memorable... Well, that was one way of putting what was happening. There had been so many shocks and turns during this tea party that no one would be able to forget it anytime soon.
’This is just getting worse and worse. What do you mean I am wearing imperial silk? No wonder Madam Martha was so shocked. Ugh, what do I do now?’
Shuu did not even want to move. He could feel everyone looking at him, especially Prince Kaiden and Lady Sera.
Their eyes told him that they wanted to undress him... and for very different reasons.
So instead of focusing on the people in front of him, he focused on the tea. Not that it would change anything.
After all, he might have been the guest of honor, but no one was actually talking to him or asking him anything.
Lady Sera, Prince Yunn, and Princess Danielle were stuck in a cold war, and they kept trying to drag Prince Kaiden into it. Reina looked utterly uninterested, and Nero had already zoned out.
Shuu grabbed his teacup and brought it up to his lips. But the smell of tea hit his nose before the tea touched his lips, and he immediately felt his head spin due to the smell.
He put the full teacup down, causing Lady Sera to glare at him even more.
They knew that it might have been insulting, but he could not bring himself to take a single sip from that cup.
"Is the tea so bad that you cannot even bring yourself to drink it?"
Lady Sera asked with an almost dejected expression. Shuu knew he had no reason to feel bad about it, but he still felt bad. He took a look at the teacup, and it felt heavier in his hand.
He could not bring it up to his lips, but he still tried his best and finally took a sip.
As soon as the taste hit his lips, his lunch threatened to come out.
"Excuse me. I need to leave for a while."
Shuu stood up before he quickly left. Lady Sera’s face was pale and annoyed. She looked like she had been struck by Shuu’s actions, but she somehow maintained her composure.
"I should go check on Shuu-"
Prince Kaiden got up to follow him out as well, but he suddenly stopped as he felt Sera’s hand gripping his sleeve.
He sat back down, but his eyes continued to look worried.
In the end, Reina was the one who stood up and decided to leave to check up on Shuu.
"I will go and take a look to see if Shuu is alright or not. You all should stay back and enjoy the tea party."
She stood up, and no one tried to stop her this time.
