"Lady Canarie, are you alright? Your face...looks blue..."

The guard looked at the Lady beside him with a worried expression. She had been normal for one second, but now she looked like she was struggling.

"D-Does it look like...I am fine? M-My senses are..."

She complained as her chest felt like it was on fire. She was not able to think, much less speak at the moment.

"H-Help me-! S-Stop that...kid..."

Lady Canarie spoke and pointed toward Yunn as she started to lose her consciousness.

The guard understood her words, but he was not sure what to do about it. He was afraid of hurting the prince, but at the same time...he could not allow Lady Canarie to get hurt either.

Ultimately, he decided to try and knock the prince down. He took a step toward Caelis, only to be knocked out by Prince Yunn.

"Tsk, insensitive jerks. Don’t you dare step near Caelis. If you do, then I will not show any of you mercy."

He spoke confidently and the guards looked torn.

Princess Danielle decided to interfere as well and her eyes looked at Prince Yunn with certainty.

"Stop it, Yunn. Lady Canarie and these guards are just trying to help. Since Shuu abandoned us-"

The air turned cold and everyone felt their knees go weak. They looked at Prince Caelis, but it was clearly not his fault this had happened. And that realization made everyone pale even more.

"Go on. Speak up about Shuu. where did you say he was?"

Emperor Kaiden’s voice reached everyone and they all felt their heart skip a beat at the same time.

’N-No way...! The emperor is back? Already? H-How...?’

The timing could not have been worse.

Not only were they not able to take care of the situation, but companion Shuu was also missing and no one knew where he went. It was the worst possible situation and no one wanted to deal with it.

The silence around him did not deter Emperor Kaiden. He stepped through the crowd until he reached the center where Caelis and Rin were.

Guards parted to allow him entry and Emperor Kaiden looked at the kid at his feet with an almost uninterested look in his eyes.

"Are you going to attack me as well?"

He asked Caelis and the kid tried to size up his father before realizing that there was no need to fight the man.

Caelis calmed down and the next second, he ran toward his father and burrowed his face in his father’s legs.

"F-Father...Shuu...!"

The crying was a little too violent and the maids flinched at the tears coming out of those familiar eyes. They had never seen their crown prince cry like this.

Rin also looked ready to cry but he was much more reserved about making contact with the emperor.

Everyone waited to see what the emperor would do regarding this situation and whether they would have to interfere or not.

But instead of doing anything irrational, Emperor Kaiden picked up the two kids and held them in his arms.

"I know. I sensed that Shuu was not in the imperial castle as soon as I arrived. So, would anyone like to tell me what is going on and where Shuu is?"

Emperor Kaiden asked in a calm voice. But no one was foolish enough to think that he was actually calm. There was a storm brewing behind his eyes that made everyone flinch.

"I...Brother, calm down first. Let’s talk..."

"Yunn, I am not the one who needs to talk here. I just need to know what is going on."

Emperor Kaiden reminded him Yunn fell quiet.

He knew in his heart that no matter what he said and did here, it would all be useless. Kaiden would only believe the truth he found himself.

And yet, despite knowing this, he decided to still try.

"Brother, Shuu is missing. We found out this morning as well and we are looking for him now. You do not have to worry-" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Shuu...? Missing? Is that what you call kidnapping these days? Hmm, from your expression, I take it that you did not even think of this possibility. Do you not even believe in Shuu a little bit?"

Kaiden asked and Yunn immediately fell quiet.

He had considered that possibility, but he had not actually believed that it was the real reason Shuu had disappeared.

But with how certain Kaiden looked, was there any ground to denounce it either?

"I...see. Should we send a guard to look for him?"

Yunn asked, now trying to change the subject. But Emperor Kaiden just chuckled at him and shook his head.

"Ah, it’s fine. There is no need to send a guard. I will go and bring Shuu back myself. And once I do, I will make sure to purge this place of traitors who allowed this to happen."

Emperor Kaiden’s eyes were filled with anger. Even if the smile on his face made him seem softer, there was an edge around Emperor Kaiden that made him feel dangerous.

"Brother, I-"

"Don’t worry. Here, take care of Rin and Caelis for me. I will go and bring Shuu back."

Emperor Kaiden told Yunn before he handed him the two kids.

Yunn looked taken aback, but he took the kids as instructed. Within the next moment, Emperor Kaiden was gone and Yunn was the only one left behind.

Sigh

’I better take care of this mess before anything else happens.’

He sighed and turned toward the people beside him. They had all fallen on their knees and their expressions looked terrified.

"Everyone, get up. Emperor Kaiden might have refused our air, but we need to do our best to help him out. So go and look for Shuu and find him as quickly as you all can."

The guards got back on their shaky legs and started to walk away. They knew that they needed to find Companion Shuu and fast.

Otherwise, they would all die once the emperor were to find out what they did to his companion.

Prince Yunn watched them all leave and then he tends toward his fiance.

"Danielle, are you alright?"

He asked and Danielle nodded.

"Fortunately, I am fine. But I don’t think I can say the same for Lady Canarie. It seems like the shock was too much for her to handle."
