Shuu watched as Princess Danielle and Lady Canarie left the guest room. His relaxed body tensed, and his hands shook a little bit as he looked down.

He had pretended to be brave and unaffected by their words, but in reality, he had been scared. His hands were shaking as he replied to the Princess.

’It is fine. It will all be alright. There is no need to feel scared.’

Shuu reminded himself as he slowly calmed himself down. But a single look in the mirror told him that he had not calmed down as well as he had hoped to.

His face was still pale, and his eyes looked a little wetter than they should.

"What should I do now?"

Shuu asked this question aloud, but he did not expect an answer, nor did he get one.

The whole situation with the change in prophecy, as well as his uncertain position, made him feel as if the ground would be swept from under him any second. And yet, he still trusted Emperor Kaiden.

His instincts told him that Kaiden would not let go of him, no matter what.

Shuu’s hands went to his shoulder, where the companion mark was burning. It reminded him that the Emperor was always on his side and would remain there for all his life.

"It’s going to be fine. I am going to be fine. This is just a small obstacle I, no, we will be able to overcome easily."

Shuu reminded himself, but these words were spoken more to give himself encouragement than anything else.

He knew that Emperor Kaiden would not abandon him. But he was not sure if he would be able to take what came with that attention...?

"For the last time, I have no idea what happened or where that foreign magic came from. Why don’t you make any actual use of your time and find the culprit instead of harassing me like this?"

Lady Elysia asked as she crossed her arms and refused to speak anymore.

The guard in front of her looked worried at her lack of answer, and he did not know what to do anymore.

He had been tasked by Nero to get a detailed explanation from Lady Elysia about her routine on the day before. But the lady refused to say much, making it difficult for him to make a report.

"I apologize if you feel like you are being pressured, my lady. But this report is important. If you cooperate a little..."

He told her gently, but Lady Elysia refused to calm down.

"Calm down-! There is no way I will calm down. If you want me to speak, then go and get Emperor Kaiden-"

"I am afraid that Kaiden is a little busy. So you will have to make do with me. And unlike these guards that are being gentle with you, I am not going to be gentle."

Nero appeared behind the now-relieved guard and gestured for the guard to leave.

The guard wasted no time in running out and left Nero along with Lady Elysia.

"You are..."

Lady Elysia made a startled expression, but it soon turned into a smile as she took in Nero’s appearance.

"You are Emperor Kaiden’s familiar? Ah, finally-! Are you here to help me out? Quick, get me out of here. These bars are-"

Nero’s sword split the table in front of them into two with a stab of his sword. He looked at her with the same calm look and pulled his sword back from the table.

"Now that we have established that I am not here to help you, would you mind opening your mouth and telling me all about your day?"

Nero asked Lady Elysia, and she recalculated her position.

She had been uncaring in front of the other guards because she knew they wouldn’t be able to harm her.

But Nero was a different case.

Not only was he Emperor Kaiden’s familiar, but he also had the power to end her. She needed to be careful while dealing with him.

"Alright, I will tell you all about my day."

And she began to tell him everything.

Luckily for her, she had nothing to do with the case at hand. She had not been involved with Companion Shuu’s room case at all.

She would be let go pretty soon, and once she was, she would need to make sure she used this to gain sympathy with Emperor Kaiden.

"I apologize, Princess Danielle. But we need to take Lady Canarie in for questioning regarding the case."

The guard looked at the glaring princess and the person behind her.

He did not want to be here for much longer, but he could not ignore his orders either.

"Tsk, Canarie is not at fault. I can assure you that she was with me the whole time. If you are going to take her into custody, then you will have to take me into custody as well."

She told the guard, and the guard looked flustered.

He wanted to follow his orders, but going against Princess Danielle would also cause him trouble...

He looked at Princess Danielle and sighed before he took his seat.

"Danielle, are you sure about taking this stand?"

He asked his fiance without sparing Canarie a single look, and Danielle met his eyes back.

"I am. This is not up for debate either."
