[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 107: Ch : Tea Party - Part 1
"Take this and scrub him all over. Do not let him go, no matter how much he complains."
The maids had wicked smiles on their faces as soon as they heard Princess Danielle’s orders. They grabbed Shuu (carefully) before they dragged him to the bath to clean him up.
The maids were careful with him and yet forceful enough that he was not able to run away from them.
When he was finally let go, he felt like a new person, with his skin shining and a sweet scent coming from him. It was bearable, but not something he liked.
"Alright, now change into these robes. The maids will help you. I will go and get the kids ready."
Once again, Shuu was thrust into the arms of the maids, but this batch was much more careful.
They wrapped all kinds of fabric around him and put things on his face and hair. He looked like a totally different person by the time it all ended.
"Sir Shuu, you look really good today. I am sure no one would be able to say anything to you once they see you."
The maids praised him as they looked him over. He did look a little hard to approach and intimidating, but he could not say that he liked it.
After all, it was not as if dressing like this would change who he was inside. Nor would it change who he was as a person or what people thought about him.
’I better stop thinking about all this, or I will ruin my mood.’
Shuu took a deep breath to calm himself down. Not even a second passed before the door was pushed open by Princess Danielle. She had somehow changed her clothes as well, and she had the kids with her.
"You finally look presentable enough. Now, shall we head out?"
She extended her hand toward Shuu, and he took it. His clothes were heavy and restrictive, so he did need help.
Once they reached the doors where the tea party was to be held, Lady Danielle stopped in front of them and gave him a serious look.
"Consort Shuu, I know this is not my place to say anything, and I know you have a mild temperament, but please keep my words in mind. No matter what happens inside, do not lose your temper and give the other side any chance to use it against you. I will try to protect you as much as I can, but only if you cooperate with me."
Shuu nodded at her words, knowing that Princess Danielle was saying this for his own benefit.
Politics was a battlefield where a single mistake could make you a target for others to tear apart. And as someone who had grown up in such an environment, she knew fully well how hard it could hit.
But Shuu didn’t know that, and he was also soft-hearted. She was worried about him...
No...! What she was actually worried about was Emperor Kaiden and his temper. If something did happen to Shuu and he found out...
’I don’t even want to imagine what would happen. Thankfully, nothing will happen, right?’
With a final smile plastered on her face to hide her nervousness, Princess Danielle pushed the door open. Everyone looked at her and Shuu before their eyes turned toward the kids.
Prince Caelis walked inside as if he owned the place (and he did), but it was the presence of the other child that caused everyone to pause and point at him.
"Hey, isn’t that..."
"Did he not die? Why would the imperial family keep him alive?"
"It might be Prince Kaiden’s decision. He did like Lady Sera for so many years. He must have ordered her son to be kept alive-"
"Then, can he become the Crown Prince instead of Prince Caelis? Should we change sides now-?"
People gossiped, but because of how quiet it was, the whispers reached Shuu anyway.
He immediately wanted to tell these people that that was not the case, but Princess Danielle’s grip on his arm held him back. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She looked as annoyed as Shuu felt, but she was doing an amazing job of controlling herself.

"Everyone, please pay attention to me. I would like to introduce two important people to you all. This is Prince Caelis, and I am sure you all know him already. The one standing beside him is Rin. He is a special guest of the Imperial Palace, so please make sure to pay your respects to him."
Princess Danielle’s voice carried across the room, and everyone paused what they were doing and turned to look at her at once.
Their eyes looked like sharp needles trying to burrow their way through her body, but she did not even flinch.
Instead, she looked back at them with the same intensity they were giving her, and it caused them all to back down.
"Now that we have it all cleared up, we can start the tea party."
She sat down, and everyone else followed as well. Prince Caelis quickly dragged Rin toward the garden, and Shuu kept looking at them.
He was worried about the kids, and he was so worried that he missed the question a noble was asking him.
"I feel so sorry for you, Consort Shuu. Not only do you have to fill Lady Sera’s shoes, but you also have to take care of the mess she left behind. Doesn’t it all get too tiring? If you ever need a friend, then don’t forget that I am here for you."
The man who spoke genuinely sounded sad for Shuu, but it was all a facade to make this foolish consort think of him as a friend and rely on him.
If this consort was foolish enough to take in Lady Danielle’s son despite the risks it brought, then surely it wouldn’t be difficult to fool him and take advantage of him.
The noble was not the only one who thought that, but he was the bravest and the first to try and take advantage of this knowledge.
