[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 101: Ch : Adopting the Child

The kid in front of Shuu did look a lot like him. The similar silver hair and pale skin made him look at his son at first.

But that was where the similarities ended.

The red eyes on that face looked like Emperor Kaiden’s, and the face was like Lady Sera’s. Looking at that mixture made Shuu a little bit uncomfortable, but he was not someone who was about to show it on his face.

After all, Emperor Kaiden had assured him again and again that he never spent a night with Sera (not that Shuu cared). But Emperor Kaiden even had solid evidence that he was somewhere else that night.

So the appearance of this kid was a little suspicious.

"Shuu, are you not going to say anything? Rin, you should greet him. He’s the one who gave birth to me. I told you about him, right?"

Shuu tugged at the younger child, and Rin looked startled. He looked up at Shuu’s face before turning it away with a small blush on his face.

"I... hello..."

The voice of the kid was the softest thing Shuu had ever heard, and it made him feel a little protective over the kid.

Seeing that thin body and unkempt appearance brought back some bad memories for Shuu as well. It reminded him of his own childhood when he had to endure a lot of hardships.

"Rin, is there anyone taking care of you?"

Shuu kneeled down and asked the kid, only for Rin to take a step back out of shock. The poor kid looked out of his element, and his eyes did not even meet Shuu’s properly.

"T-The nanny..."

Rin stopped speaking all of a sudden, and his face turned pale. Whatever courage the kid had gathered evaporated all of a sudden, and Shuu turned to his son.

Rin was developing slower compared to Caelis (who could somehow already speak fine and even understand words well. He could cross long distances without much trouble). So Shuu turned toward Caelis for answers.

"I... take... care... Rin... now."

Caelis looked between his father (mother) and his friend before he decided this. This was far from the answer he wanted, but Shuu allowed his son to continue speaking.

"I... named... Rin, so... he’s... Caelis’s... I... take... care... Rin... now."

His son repeated this, and Shuu finally rubbed his forehead.

Despite his son’s broken speech, Shuu felt like he could understand him. But as for the more specific details, he decided he could ask the maids.

"Alright, you can take care of Rin. But for now, we need to get you both washed up and ready for lunch."

Shuu sighed as he pulled Caelis into his arms.

Rin looked awkwardly around, wondering what he was supposed to do. The poor child still looked terrified, but he was trying to trust his only friend.

Shuu grabbed him as well and pulled him up.

His balance wobbled, and it was extremely hard for Shuu to take the two kids back. His body had not recovered enough to carry two kids like this, but he still kept going until he made it back to his quarters.

"Master Shuu... you found the young prince... and that is..." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Shuu pressed Rin’s face into his shoulder and used his hand to try and hide those familiar hairs. He knew he was not doing a good job, but he still kept that head pressed down.

"It’s alright. I will be having lunch in my room, so you can inform Emperor Kaiden about that."

The servants flinched, knowing that their Emperor would not like this. Hopefully, no one would lose their head over this...

"We understand. We will inform Emperor Kaiden of your decision."

The maids bowed and quickly left.

As much as they wanted to keep looking and see what Companion Shuu hoped to do with Lady Sera’s son, they had more important things to worry about at the moment.

By the end of the day, the gossip of what the maids had seen spread all around. And it did not take long for the nobles to know as well.

A fire was suddenly lit ablaze among the nobles as they gained a long-forgotten weapon to use against Shuu and Emperor Kaiden.

But Shuu, who was unaware of all this, welcomed his lunch and decided to feed the kids first.

Caelis kept trying to make Rin try new things, and Rin looked hesitant to even touch most things in front of him.

It was a calm afternoon, all until Emperor Kaiden decided to visit Shuu’s room with a frown on his face.

"The maids told me that you picked up a human baby. Can I get an explanation about what is happening here?"

Emperor Kaiden asked as he entered the room, only to see Shuu with Caelis and another somewhat familiar face.

The frown on Emperor Kaiden’s face was enough to sour the mood, and Rin quickly hid behind Caelis so that he did not have to see that look.

Shuu felt bad for the kid, so he quickly stepped forward and flicked the emperor.

"Stop scaring the kid like that and sit down. I have some things I wish to discuss with you."

Emperor Kaiden had a sour look on his face as he sat down beside Shuu. He immediately plastered himself against Shuu’s side with a slight smile on his face.

"What do you want to tell me? I am all ears."

Shuu sighed as he considered what the best way to bring up this topic would be. He could try to soften the blow a little... but in the end, he decided to convey the situation as it was.

"Lady Sera’s son has been living in the imperial palace ever since her death, and no one told me. But now that I have seen him, I want to take care of him. I want you to prepare adoption papers for him."

Emperor Kaiden sighed and looked at Shuu with a patient expression.

"Is there really a need to do that? If you want to take care of him, then just appoint maids to take care of him-"

"No. I wish to raise him myself."

Shuu confirmed with a confident expression.
