Chapter 317: 317: The Familiar Face

Eden was shocked to hear someone call him by that tag. He was certain no one here except Lenny and Helen could recognise him.

Panicked, he looked around to make sure no one else had heard it. Then he looked up at the young man who still had his hand out for a handshake.

"And who are you...?" Eden demanded.

"You can’t recognize me? I thought I looked like my brother..." the young man said.

And at that moment, Helen and Eden realized who it was. Adrian’s younger brother.

"The Grand Marquis’s younger brother?" Helen confirmed.

"Yes. Exactly," he smiled. "The name’s Marcus."

Eden stared at him. He did look like his brother. Although he wasn’t as tall as his brother, he was still tall—taller than Eden. His facial features were like his brother’s. The two were gorgeous, without question.

But his hair was dark. It wasn’t red like his brother’s.

"You..." Eden stared at him.

Marcus smiled. "Sorry for approaching you guys so late. I was actually out on a mission and wasn’t around. So... that’s it..."

Eden nodded. "Oh. No problem, then."

"How are you adjusting to the system? I hope everything is going well? No bullying or anything?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Sure, nothing... I’m fine, just fine," Eden said. He was probably lying.

Marcus smiled. "That’s good, then. Remember to tell me if you have any issues. Okay?"

Eden and Helen nodded. "Sure."

"And have you gotten a tour around the academy?" he asked.

"Well, yes, we got one a few days ago... although he missed it because he was asleep..." Helen said, pointing to Eden.

Eden blinked. "I said I missed it intentionally."

Marcus smiled. "Okay, then. When I’m free, I’ll give the two of you a private tour and tell you what you need to survive in this academy. Okay?"

The two of them nodded.

"Okay, then. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be taking my leave... I have something important to do. Okay?" He winked and was soon out of view.

Helen and Eden sat there, staring as he left.

"Wow, they sure do look like brothers," Eden pointed out.

"Yes, I noticed. Both good-looking and all. Who do you think is more good-looking? Him or the Marquis?" Helen asked.

Eden bit his lower lip in thought. "Well, that’s a hard one. But I’ll go with his brother. The red hair made him look hotter," he smiled.

Helen smiled. "Of course you’ll go with him."

Eden stared at her. "Are you teasing me or what?"

Helen shook her head. "No."

After a while, Eden said, "About the plan... I think I’ve come up with something. A way to find the person."

"What plan? What person?" She stared at him.

Eden stared back. "The plan."

"Ah," Helen nodded. "So what did you come up with?"

Eden thought for a while and then said, "I’ll execute it tomorrow. You just have to wait to see what it is." He smiled. "I’m sure it’ll work out. And at least give me some clues on who the hell this is," he said confidently.

Helen slowly nodded. "Okay, then. We’ll see."

Lectures at the academy had started. And Eden was late on his first day of class.

He had woken up late. He had to hurry up and rush to class before he got punished—he certainly wasn’t in the mood for any punishment right now!

But what Eden didn’t expect was that when he arrived at class, he’d see a familiar face standing before them and lecturing the class.

And that was exactly what happened when he sneaked in.

"Why are you late?" someone asked. His voice was calm yet filled with authority.

Eden slowly looked up. "Well, I..." He paused as soon as he saw the person’s face. "Leo?" he spoke in shock.

Everyone in class stared at him in shock. No one expected him to disrespect their teacher—and the Grand Duke—by calling him by his name.

The class was quiet as they stared at Eden.

Eden blinked as he stared at Leo standing before the class. One hand held a book, the other was behind his back. He was in his black noble attire and his glasses—a look that made him appear more like a gentleman. One that made him look smart and calm.

And he stood there elegantly, staring at Eden without any expression.

Eden blinked again, realizing the situation. He immediately placed a hand over his mouth.

Leo clearly didn’t recognize him, that much he knew. And he was certainly here to lecture. Eden had read that his character was versed in the arts of education and taught at many prestigious academies. So seeing him here shouldn’t have been a surprise.

"I mean... Teacher..." Eden said, biting his lower lip. There was a quick murmur in the room.

Leo stared at Eden casually, without any emotion. His expression was neutral as he looked back down at his book. "I do not condone latecoming at all. It vexes me. So make sure you are not late again, or I will kick you out and report you to the authorities."

Typical of Leo, Eden thought. He casually smiled. "Yes, teacher."

Eden sneaked down to his seat beside Helen. He cast Helen a what the hell is happening stare. Helen simply shrugged.

They both stared up at Leo as he continued teaching. Eden couldn’t help but think that his plan was being threatened by Leo’s presence. He only prayed that Leo wouldn’t recognize him.

Even though he doubted Leo would, because of the magical illusion he was using, he still had to be careful.

The boring class continued. Leo taught about the arts of war and the philosophical logic of war and all—all of which Eden found boring.

Boring enough that he began dozing off. His head nodded a couple of times as he struggled to keep his eyes open.

But it was to no avail. Because in a short while, he had given in to the goddess of sleep and rested his head on his desk.
