Chapter 84: At the Hospital

In the morning, Lucien was already awake, moving around the kitchen and preparing breakfast. Ash was still lying in bed, half-asleep.

His phone rang. Groaning, he pulled the pillows over his ears, mumbling, "Adrian...not now."

It rang again, louder this time, forcing him upright. Irritated, he grabbed the phone. "Why are you disturbing my sleep?" he asked.

On the other end, Martin’s voice was tight with emotion. "Ash...Naomi got into a car accident .She’s in the ICU."

Ash’s eyes widened. "I’m coming," he said, then hung up.

He threw off the covers, still in his pajamas, slid on his slippers, and headed for the door.

Just as his hand reached for the doorknob, Lucien appeared from the kitchen, carrying a tray with sandwiches and two glasses of milk. "Where are you going?" he asked.

"I have to rush to the hospital," Ash replied quickly. "My friend got into an accident. She’s in the ICU."

"Can I come with you?" Lucien asked.

Ash shook his head. "It’s okay. I’ll go on my own."

He opened the door and stepped outside, moving toward the car.

...

Ash reached the hospital, his heart pounding. At the entrance, Martin was waiting for him.

"Where is she?" Ash asked breathing heavily.

Martin led him quickly through the corridors to the ICU.

Through the glass, Ash saw Naomi lying on the bed with tubes in her arms and a bandage on her forehead. The steady beep of the monitor was the only sign of relief, she was alive.

Her parents stood nearby. Her mother’s eyes were red, holding tightly to her husband’s arm.

Ash turned to Martin. "What about the person who hit her?"

Martin shook his head. "They escaped before anyone could see them. She was lucky to be rescued in time."

Ash clenched his fists, his gaze fixed on Naomi. Wake up soon, he thought. The university is waiting for us.

...

In the dressing room, Adrian buttoned his shirt, phone pressed to his ear.

"Ash, why aren’t you replying to my texts?" he asked, glancing at his reflection.

A brief silence followed before he frowned slightly. "Oh...your friend Naomi?" His tone shifted, surprise flickering in his eyes. "I’m really sorry. I hope she wakes up soon."

At the door, Celeste stood quietly, leaning against the door frame. Her fists tightened, and her heart thudded hard in her chest.

...

After speaking to Adrian on the phone, Ash glanced at Martin’s beside him. His eyes caught faint marks on Martin’s hands and legs.

"What happened to you?" Ash asked, reaching out to touch him.

Martin stepped back quickly. "I’m fine."

"How can you be fine with those marks?" Ash pressed, his voice trembling. "Is it my uncle?"

Martin looked away. "No," he said quickly, but his eyes betrayed him.

Ash swallowed hard, grabbed Martin’s arm, and dragged him to Doctor Eric. "Doctor, can you tell me if these marks are normal?"

Doctor Eric looked at Martin, then sighed. "They’re signs of physical violence."

"Thank you," Ash said curtly. Before the doctor could say another word, Ash pulled Martin down the corridor where no one could hear them.

"Why do you let him do this to you?" he demanded. "Can’t you just cut ties with him?"

Tears filled Martin’s eyes. "I love him," he whispered.

Ash’s hand landed hard across his face. "Last time he asked you to abort, it almost cost your life. Now he’s going to kill you with his hands if you keep being blind."

He took a step closer, his voice sharp. "If you don’t care about yourself, at least care about the child you’re carrying, and your sister, Clara."

Ash’s tone softened but stayed firm. "From now on, you and Clara are moving out of the house. I’ll ask Adrian to find you both an apartment. Aster will never foot there."

Martin’s eyes widened. "You don’t need to..."

"I don’t want to hear more," Ash cut him off coldly.

Ash and Martin spent the entire day at the hospital, keeping watch over Naomi. By evening, Ash’s phone buzzled, it was Adrian.

"Still at the hospital?" Adrian asked.

"Yes," Ash replied. "Did you find the apartment I asked you to?"

"I did," Adrian said. "I’ll come to the hospital, check on your friend, then take the other one to the apartment." The cell ended with a soft click.

Ash turned to Martin. "Call Clara. Tell her to pack the essentials and take a taxi here. Adrian will come soon to take both of you."

A few hours later, Clara arrived carrying a small suitcase and a bag. Ash and Martin waited for her near the entrance.

The moment Clara saw Ash, she bowed politely, but then dropped to her knees, clutching one of his legs. Her voice broke as she sobbed, "Thank you, senior, for helping us move from that house. That bad Alpha has been beating my brother every day."

Martin lowered his gazed while Ash shifted uneasily, noticing a few nurses and patients watching the scene.

He gently helped Clara to her feet. "There’s no need for that," he said quietly. "I’ve known both of you for a long time."

He brushed away her tears with the back of his hand, his tone calm and steady.

Clara looked up at Ash. "Senior, is Senior Naomi awake?"

Ash shook his head.

"Can I go see her?" Clara asked softly.

"No, Clara," Ash replied gently.

"Why?" she whispered, tears forming in her eyes.

Ash sighed. "Underage visitors aren’t allowed in the ICU. But don’t worry, she’ll wake up soon, and you’ll be able to see her then, okay?"

Clara nodded and smiled faintly.

Ash pointed toward the nearby waiting area. "Come on, let’s sit there and wait for my brother."

A few minutes later, Adrian arrived with Bravin beside him. As they walked through the corridor, nurses and patients bowed respectfully.

When Adrian reached them, Martin and Clara quickly stood and bowed.

"Thank you, kind Alpha," Clara said, her voice sincere. "May you be blessed more."

Adrian smiled touching her cheek. "Aww, that’s sweet."

He turned to Ash, his tone shifting. "Seriously, I heard you skipped breakfast. I’m sure you haven’t eaten since morning and you’re..." He stopped himself, then looked at Bravin. "Take them to get something to eat."

Bravin nodded, motioning for Martin’s and Clara to follow him.

Once they were gone, Adrian looked back at Ash his brow furrowed. "Why are you making my baby suffer from hunger?"

Ash smirked lightly. "I have enough stock in me to keep the baby alive for a week."

Adrian sighed, shaking his head, but his expression softened.

"Come," Ash said, standing. "I’ll take you to see my friend."

Adrian nodded and followed him down the quiet hallway to the ICU. When they arrived, Adrian watched Naomi for a moment before saying, "The driver who hit her should be found and arrested."

"How?" Ash asked. "He escaped, no one saw him."

"That doesn’t matter," Adrian replied. "There are CCTV cameras along the roads. I’ll ask the police to check them."

Ash smiled faintly. "You’re so smart. How come I didn’t think of that?"

His expression softened. "Thank you...for always looking after me, and for caring about my friends. I wish I could repay you somehow."

Adrian blinked lifted Ash’s chin gently, his eyes steady. "The price to repay me is cheap, you can afford it. Just give me a kiss"

Ash blinked in surprise. "Adrian, not here."

"No one’s around," Adrian murmured, leaning in before pressing his lips against his.

From the glass window outside, Celeste stood frozen in disbelief.
