Chapter 293: Devil Father

Now, as an experienced father, Gara had no trouble lulling his tiny newborn to sleep.

Wina entered the room carrying a bowl of soup for him. Madha quickly took it from her and gently fed Gara spoon by spoon.

Meanwhile, Wina placed the now-sleeping baby into the crib. She gazed at the little girl’s delicate face.

"What’s her name, Gara?"

Since they didn’t know the gender beforehand, no final name had been chosen.

Gara swallowed the warm soup in his mouth before answering. "We prepared a few options for both boys and girls. Now that she’s a girl... I’ll name her Belina."

"Beautiful name. What does it mean?"

"Beauty," Gara replied. "From the word Belle. And Belene also means light. I want Belina to lighten this world, the world that’s filled with mist."

Wina was deeply amazed.

Gara’s fourth child truly was beautiful, even from the moment she was born. She shared many of Gara’s features, almost like a feminine version of him. She has shiny, straight, jet-black hair; hazel eyes; and pale, porcelain skin.

After admiring little Bel’s face to her heart’s content, Wina suddenly remembered another pressing matter waiting in the next room.

"Gara, what about Professor Langga Alterian"

Gara, too, had honestly forgotten. "What’s he doing, Mom?"

"Playing with the triplets. He hasn’t wandered anywhere, just stayed in the that room. Rea and her children seem to get along with him," Wina explained.

Gara nodded, understanding... though he felt a bit betrayed that Rea preferred playing with a stranger over checking on him after he had literally just given birth.

"Madha, can you call Professor Langga? I want to talk to him," Gara requested.

Madha immediately went next door.

Meanwhile, Wina checked Gara’s condition again. "Is the cut line still hurting you?"

"No, Mom. My herb paste works better than anything else. Only the scar is left. It should disappear in about a week."

Gara had carefully prepared every product he needed for his own childbirth. There was no point in making remedies adored by others if he couldn’t even take care of himself.

Wina finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Soon, Langga arrived. Madha did not enter with him.

Langga’s eyes briefly landed on the newborn lying in the crib. Some small part of him felt an urge to crush that tiny body.

But when he saw the baby resembled Gara... the killing intent simply evaporated.

"Don’t you dare try anything with my baby!" Gara snapped instantly.

Langga didn’t reply. He restrained himself since Wina was in the room.

"I allowed you to see the triplets and even revealed my biggest secret. I hope you at least have the conscience not to cause trouble."

"I won’t expose this space. I won’t interfere with Madha or anyone connected to you. And I won’t fight you for the triplets anymore."

Gara blinked in surprise. Langga had made those promises without being asked.

"You’re not planning something else... right?" Gara couldn’t help being suspicious.

Langga let out a long exhale. "I understand why you think so poorly of me. As a half-devil, I’ve always thought the worst of devils too."

"Isn’t your father..." Gara stopped himself from finishing the sentence.

Unexpectedly, Langga began to speak openly, and almost like a tale.

"My father was a devil, yes... but he never legally married my mother. He manipulated her. She was young, and she fell for a devil’s charm far too easily.

"I was born from their reckless affair. Even before I was born, my mother begged him again and again to marry her, but he always had a thousand excuses to delay it.

"After I was born, his true colors came out. He never loved her. He came to Swargaloka for one reason, to find a human woman who could give him a child. He only wanted an heir.

"He had many wives from various devil sub-species, but none of them could conceive. My father desperately wanted me, but my mother and my grandfather, Duke Alterian at the time, were not people he could easily go against.

"Our family lacked heirs, so my birth was a treasure to my grandfather. He did everything he could to force my father to give up.

"And although my father’s family had enough power to keep the struggle going, devils like them could simply go hunt for another victim. So they gave up on me.

"After that, my mother stopped believing in love and dedicated herself to raising me. My grandfather never pressured her to remarry. Now... I never see him again, and don’t know whether he ever managed to create another heir or not.

"I thought I had completely escaped the ’devil side’ of myself. I forgot... that my children could inherit that trait, that identity."

Gara silently took in Langga’s sudden, sorrowful story. Behind that annoying face that always grated on his nerves, there was a surprisingly tragic past.

"So... because the triplets inherited your devil traits, you hate them?" Gara asked skeptically.

"Of course not." Langga shook his head hard. "If anything, they helped me accept the part of myself I’ve tried to bury. The devil traits I hate so much... somehow make the triplets look adorable." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Well, of course the triplets are adorable," Gara shot back, refusing to be outdone.

Langga smile warmly, "That’s why, I don’t want triplets feel what I felt. Of course, I believe you can raise them well, with no lack. But, I just said this from my experience."

Gara fell silent, lost in thought. He remembered his nieces from his previous world. When his brother went to prison, they asked why their father couldn’t pick them up from school like other people’s fathers.

Langga was right. Even if everyone tried to fill the role of a father, that role would still be difficult to replace completely.

They continued talking about the triplets— their names, birthdays, traits, likes, and everything in between. They even discussed why the space was chosen as the safest place to raise them.

Their conversation ended when Bel started crying.

Just before Langga left, he made a request. "Can I see the triplets again?"

"We’ll see," Gara replied, giving no definite answer.

After Langga left, Madha finally reentered the room. Gara wondered why he hadn’t just come in earlier, no one had actually forbidden him.

Madha sat on the edge of Gara’s bed and held his hand tightly.

"Is it really okay for Professor Langga to know all this? He won’t endanger you... or our child, right?"

Gara gently stroked the back of Madha’s hand, hoping to soothe his worries. "Today, he saved two lives— mine and Bel’s. For now... we can trust him."

Earlier, when Gara nearly fell into the pillar, he had felt painfully vulnerable. He had been in extreme pain, and everything happened so fast that his mind simply blanked out.

Allowing Langga inside this space had been pure impulse. But unexpectedly, he ended up hearing the real truth behind all the rumors surrounding the Alterian House.

Remembering how he once threatened Langga over his half-devil race, Gara couldn’t help but feel guilty.

Wina, who was still in the room, gently patted Gara’s shoulder.

"Son, in my opinion, Professor Langga and Duchess Alterian are good people. They’ve gone through so much already. I’m sure Duchess Alterian will be a wonderful grandmother to the triplets."

Gara’s eyes stayed focused, but he didn’t say anything.

Eventually, Wina left, carrying away Gara’s empty soup bowl.

Madha remained by Gara’s side, taking care of everything Bel needed and keeping Gara company.

Ares, Della, and Fian visited from time to time, either to help or simply to check on Gara and the newborn.

...

The next day, Gara wasn’t allowed to attend class, even though he insisted he felt perfectly fine and promised to return immediately afterward to take care of Bel.

"Gara, I can look after Bel for you, but what matters most is that you get enough rest."

Wina was unyielding, and Madha and the others fully supported her.

"I’ll speak with Professor Langga and the other professors."

And so, for the first time ever, Gara was absent.

Gara understood perfectly well that niskara tea didn’t truly remove fatigue, it only dulled the exhaustion and forced the body to tap into its reserves.

But he was used to that. He was always busy.

Staying in his room all day was... a little unbearable.

"Well, fine. Let’s just treat today as a special bonding day with my kids."

Gara carried Bel out of the room. Outside, the triplets were playing with Rea’s little ones on the carpet.

"Kids, Daddy wants to introduce you to your new little sibling."

His voice instantly drew the triplets’ attention. Their chubby heads turned toward him.

"Daddaa~! Daddaa~!" Aldwin reached his hands out excitedly. His two siblings echoed him with the same energy.

Gara sat down in front of them.

"Aldwin, Arion, Ava— now you have a new little sister. Her name is Belina. Your younger sister, Bel."

"Behl—Behl—Behl!" Aldwin called out Bel’s name with full enthusiasm. His siblings echoed again.

Ava then crawled toward Gara. Her tiny, round hands patted the blanket-wrapped newborn gently.

"You’re not the only girl anymore, Ava. You’ll have a playmate when you grow up," Gara said, stroking the top of his daughter’s soft head.

Immediately, Arion and Aldwin crawled over at the same time. Arion touched his own head while staring up at Gara with those big, round blue eyes.

Gara chuckled. "You three..."

He stroked Arion’s and Aldwin’s heads while a wide smile spreading across his face.
