Billionaire's Secret Twins and Rebellious Wife-Chapter 660: Yan Xinxin is my only precious daughter in this world.
The black sedan drove slowly along the road.
Lin Yuan’ai rolled down the window and looked outside.
"Mr. Mu, since you’re so unwelcome to me visiting your home, and yet you insist on sending me off—only to then offer to drive me back—if there’s something you want to say, just say it directly!"
Lin Yuan’ai cut straight to the point.
"Yuan’ai, we’ve been friends for decades. There are some things I don’t want to beat around the bush about—I just want clear answers."
Mu Jingheng’s reply took Lin Yuan’ai slightly by surprise.
"So you really deliberately wanted to ’drive’ me back home?"
Mu Jingheng nodded and then pulled the car over to the side of a road where few vehicles passed.
Lin Yuan’ai furrowed her brow and gazed at the man sitting in the driver’s seat, his refined features tinged with worry and unease.
Unexpectedly, she saw Mu Jingheng take out a cigarette and, in visible distress, take a drag.
In all their decades of friendship, this was the first time she’d ever seen it.
"Yuan’ai, just now when you were talking to Ah Tong, I didn’t catch every word, but that last sentence—I heard it loud and clear."
Mu Jingheng said this while extending his hand with the cigarette stub out of the car window. Then he turned, his intelligent eyes locking onto Lin Yuan’ai’s startled face.
"You told Ah Tong not to hate Yan Xinxin anymore. Not to loathe Yan Xinxin anymore. Otherwise, someday, she’d regret it..."
He clearly articulated the words he had picked up, leaving Lin Yuan’ai stunned.
Her reason for coming today was partly to check on Ning Zitong’s physical condition, and partly in the hope that her words might influence Ning Zitong’s perception of Yan Xinxin. However, it seemed that neither aim was achieved.
"Yuan’ai, you tell me—why would Ah Tong regret it in the future? Why would she feel remorse for someone who supposedly has nothing to do with her?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Yuan’ai couldn’t stop herself from blurting out.
"How could she have nothing to do with her? Clearly, she’s..."
Halfway through her sentence, she realized she’d misspoken.
To avoid exposing the promise she’d made to Yan Xinxin, Lin Yuan’ai quickly opened the car door, stepped out in her high heels, grabbed her bag, and hurried to the roadside to hail a taxi.
Seeing this, Mu Jingheng immediately extinguished the cigarette stub, opened the car door, and chased after her.
"Yuan’ai, make yourself clear! Why would Ah Tong regret it?"
He pursued her, pressing the question.
Lin Yuan’ai wanted to speak but couldn’t; she was suffocating with frustration.
Mu Jingheng’s eyes were bloodshot, his face etched with urgency, blocking Lin Yuan’ai’s path.
"You’re right—Yan Xinxin, that child, isn’t as hateful or vile as Qianshui described her to be. All along, it’s been Qianshui feeding Ah Tong and Shaoqian negative thoughts about Yan Xinxin. To this day, the two of them—mother and son—have come to hate her to the core! But I see it clearly!"
Mu Jingheng paused.
Lin Yuan’ai listened in discomfort, overwhelmed by disbelief as she watched the man in front of her, his eyes welling up, teary.
"Ah Tong has heart disease—I don’t. She’s been completely deceived by Qianshui—I haven’t! That fool Shaoqian has practically been brainwashed by Qianshui to target Yan Xinxin—but me? No!"
"All I know is, from the first moment I saw Yan Xinxin, I felt that she was the precious daughter I had lost eighteen years ago!"
"You know how I felt that day when she came to our house to deliver her and Chuxi’s wedding invitations? When she looked me in the eye and earnestly asked if I’d attend their wedding? Do you know what went through my heart? And then, when she suddenly collapsed in front of me due to heart pain—I wished I could carve out my own heart for her!"
"Because I felt it—I felt it in her every word, every move, every behavior—more than I ever did with Ah Tong, more than I ever did with Shaoqian. This emotion—only Yuan could ever make me feel it!"
Mu Jingheng’s every syllable sent shockwaves through Lin Yuan’ai, leaving her feeling cornered and exposed.
Tears welled up in Mu Jingheng’s eyes as he stared directly at Lin Yuan’ai, taking a deep breath.
"Yan Xinxin is my Yuan, isn’t she? She’s Mu Jingheng’s one and only precious daughter in this world—Mu Qianyuan—isn’t that right?"
