Billionaire's Secret Twins and Rebellious Wife-Chapter 55 - 0: I Wish It Wasn’t You
Chapter 55 - 055: I Wish It Wasn't You
Caught off guard, Yan Xinxin was suddenly pushed by Mo Chuxi, letting out a light cry as she fell into the passenger seat.
"Bang."
Mo Chuxi slammed the car door shut. Through the window, Yan Xinxin caught sight of his imposing figure walking past, before he got into the car and quickly started it.
Yan Xinxin turned to look at him. In the dim light, Mo Chuxi's profile appeared even more chiseled and defined.
"President Mo, could I trouble you to take me to pick up Xi first?"
"Your son may only be five years old, but even he knows how to go home. Yan Xinxin, how about you?"
Mo Chuxi's voice was cold as he spoke.
Yan Xinxin froze for a moment. "Are you saying Xi went home by himself?"
Feeling the concern and hope in Yan Xinxin's gaze, Mo Chuxi shifted his eyes slightly and gave her a dispassionate glance for a few seconds.
Sensing Mo Chuxi's growing impatience, Yan Xinxin tugged at her seatbelt with both hands and opened her mouth, her mood sinking.
"Please, take me to Central Square."
Mo Chuxi didn't respond to Yan Xinxin, but eventually, he drove her to Central Square.
"Thank you."
Yan Xinxin thanked him softly, then opened the car door and stepped out.
The early summer night was cool, the evening breeze teasing her delicate figure as she walked under the streetlights. Mo Chuxi furrowed his brows deeply, hesitating for a few seconds before finally grabbing his jacket and stepping out of the car.
Yan Xinxin was heading toward a dessert shop when she suddenly felt a warmth behind her. A black jacket seemed to fall from the sky, draping over her shoulders.
She stopped in surprise and turned her head, seeing Mo Chuxi's stoic face. He had actually placed a jacket on her.
"Mr. Mo..."
"Hurry up."
He spat out two cold words before turning back and walking toward the car idling by the roadside.
Understanding his meaning, Yan Xinxin stared at Mo Chuxi's retreating figure for a few seconds before turning around herself.
A feeling of warmth spread across her back. Yan Xinxin caught the faint, elegant scent of orchids lingering on the jacket—thin and refined, unmistakably Mo Chuxi's.
But this jacket was far too luxurious. If she wore a man's jacket into the shop, she'd surely be bombarded with questions.
When Yan Xinxin entered the dessert shop, her coworkers couldn't hide their surprise and immediately approached her with questions.
"Xinxin, what happened back there?"
"Yeah! What's with the talk of you abducting kids?"
"Is that a man's jacket in your hand? Hey, what's wrong with your clothes? Don't tell me you—"
Although Yan Xinxin had taken off the jacket before reaching the door, a coworker still couldn't resist making a gossip-filled comment.
Yan Xinxin tilted her lips into a subtle smile.
"Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine. What happened earlier was a misunderstanding. I'll go change and head home now."
"Hey, Yan Xinxin—"
A female coworker still wanted to dig for more, but Yan Xinxin was already quickly heading toward the changing room.
Recalling what had just transpired, Yan Xinxin couldn't help but let out a deep sigh.
Still, she took some pride in her son's maturity and cleverness.
After changing into fresh clothes, Yan Xinxin picked up Mo Chuxi's jacket, murmured a brief goodbye, and left in a hurry.
From afar, she spotted that tall, commanding figure standing next to the car.
The black shirt he wore accentuated Mo Chuxi's aloof and reserved demeanor, while the streetlight softened the icy edges of his sharp features.
Taking a deep breath, Yan Xinxin stepped toward the man waiting by the car.
Seeing her approach, carrying the jacket in her hands, Mo Chuxi's expression darkened slightly.
Yan Xinxin came to stand before him, her gaze clear and candid.
"Mr. Mo, I really didn't mean to be late tonight. It's because—ah!"
Her explanation had just begun when Mo Chuxi abruptly grasped her wrist, spun her around deftly.
Startled, Yan Xinxin's wide eyes locked onto the face now mere inches away, her heart pounding like a drum.
"M-Mr. Mo?"
"Yan Xinxin, are you even aware of your current situation? Hm?"
Mo Chuxi's voice dropped low, his tone carrying an unmistakable tension.
His long arms trapped Yan Xinxin between his body and the parked car.
Yan Xinxin was bewildered, her round, cat-like eyes uncertain and restless as she looked up at him.
"Mr. Mo, I don't quite understand what you mean."
What was this man angry about?
Was it because she had been late this afternoon, or was it her retort during her spat with Yan Zhirou?
"Yan Xinxin, I don't care about your past romances, but starting now, you better behave. Don't let me catch you entangled with other men, or you won't be able to bear the consequences."
"..."
What... what the hell!
Yan Xinxin was left speechless, her mouth slightly ajar. Mo Chuxi suddenly let her go, his cold expression unchanged as he turned back to get in the car.
Damn it!
Yan Xinxin was beyond frustrated.
What did he even mean by that?
"Get in the car."
Mo Chuxi's frosty voice traveled out of the car window.
"Mo Chuxi, don't push your luck!"
Yan Xinxin tossed his jacket onto the car seat, her small face unusually cold and defiant.
Seeing Yan Xinxin throw his jacket as if discarding trash, Mo Chuxi's piercing gaze lifted and landed sharply on the woman bristling with protest.
"My luck?"
He countered.
"Yes! You're being outrageous!"
Yan Xinxin furrowed her delicate brows and glared at Mo Chuxi.
"That's right, I've had a child, under ridiculous circumstances no less. That's why I'm stuck tangled with someone like you now!"
Yan Xinxin was flustered to the point of incoherence, letting out an indignant scoff. "Mo Chuxi, if I had a choice, I'd wish the man from that night wasn't you!"
"..." Someone like him? She still wished for a different man?
After finishing her words, Yan Xinxin turned her back to him, leaving Mo Chuxi with a stubborn silhouette.
Sitting in the car, Mo Chuxi's vision remained fixed on her retreating form, her words replaying in his mind as his slender fingers clenched the steering wheel tighter and tighter.
"Bang!"
Yan Xinxin faintly heard the sharp sound of the car door slamming behind her but had no intention of turning back. Yet, before she could make another step forward, her movement was abruptly halted.
Mo Chuxi had somehow closed the distance between them and, with overwhelming force, he pulled her into his arms.
Yan Xinxin gasped in shock, immediately struggling.
"Mo Chuxi, what are you doing? Let me down!"
"Yan Xinxin, you've gotten bold, haven't you? Hm?"
His deep voice carried a chilling undertone.
Yan Xinxin froze, realizing she had said the wrong thing, but it seemed too late for explanations.
Her earlier anger had blinded her, leaving her reckless in her words.
Mo Chuxi stared at the nervous little woman in his arms, his eyes flashing with an inscrutable glint.
"Trying to keep yourself pure for that other man? Yan Xinxin, let me tell you—it's already too late!"
