Chapter 582: Chapter 502 Are You Up to No Good Again? (First Update)

"This little one has the same temperament as Danton." Queen Haotian smiled and took out a large-bellied Laughing Buddha pendant made of imperial green jade from her purse, putting it around Sangyu’s neck.

Sangyu waved her little hands joyfully, giggling as if she were saying thank you.

Queen Haotian chuckled warmly, "If only I could have such an adorable granddaughter."

"Queen Haotian, the child is so small, and you’ve already given her such a valuable gift. How can we feel comfortable accepting it?" Yi Luowa, seeing her father remain silent, felt uneasy and reached out, intending to take the Laughing Buddha off her daughter’s neck.

Queen Haotian quickly pressed her hand down, "This is just a small token of my affection. If you take it off, I’ll be upset!"

Yi Luowa was torn with indecision, when Yan Zi’s child Ziyan in her arms let out a dissatisfied whimper.

Queen Haotian immediately walked over, smiling, "Little sweetheart, Grandma wouldn’t forget you. They say men wear Guanyin and women wear Buddha; Grandma will put Guanyin on you."

With the jade Guanyin put around Ziyan’s neck, he broke into a wide grin and giggled out loud.

Yi Luowa’s face instantly flushed bright red, all the way to her ears. These two kids couldn’t possibly be hers—they were far too greedy!

Queen Haotian turned and walked over to Tong Yao, smiling as she looked at Pengpeng. "I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. Grandma will give you a jade plaque as well, so the Buddha can watch over you all as you grow up healthy and strong."

As Queen Haotian said this, a trace of sorrow laced her tone. If the Buddha could truly protect children, she’d wish more than anything for him to watch over her two unfortunate ones.

The three little ones all received gifts and started playing happily in their strollers.

Everyone stood around them, watching. The laughter in the living room never ceased.

Tong Yao glanced at the time and said to Yi Luowa, "Luowa, go call your grandpa and father-in-law. It’s time for lunch."

Yi Luowa pouted and glanced at Long Che, "Dad~ Mom is making me do this thankless task again!"

Not only did Yi Luowa ignore the instruction, but she even pouted and tattled. Queen Haotian smiled and looked at Long Che; she knew him well—his temper was notoriously bad, and he showed no favors to anyone except his wife. She was curious to see how he’d handle this.

Nancy furrowed her brows as she observed; she could tell that Yi Luowa was quite spoiled in this household. The entire family seemed to center around her, but what she was doing now seemed a bit like abusing her privileges.

Long Che smiled and said, "I’ll tell you a trick, guaranteed to turn a thankless errand into an enjoyable one."

Yi Luowa smiled brightly, looking at Long Che. "Let’s hear it."

"When you go to the study, don’t say a word—just go straight up and mess up the chessboard they’re playing on. Without chess, they’ll definitely come out to eat."

Yi Luowa’s little face fell instantly. "If it’s such a good trick, why don’t you go do it?"

Long Che chuckled, "If I went, I’d surely get scolded. But if you go, they wouldn’t have the heart to scold you. Besides, even if there’s trouble, your dad will back you up."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips. "Everyone, excuse me. Quick option, you’ll see me in an hour; slow option, this may be goodbye forever."

With an air of drama, Yi Luowa trudged one step at a time toward the study door as if heading off to some noble sacrifice.

She pushed the door open without even glancing at the chessboard and immediately began tattling to her grandpa and father-in-law. "Grandpa, Father-in-law, my mom and dad are ganging up on me while my husband isn’t home to defend me!"

"How is your mom bullying you?" Tong Jiaqi turned back to look at his granddaughter-in-law standing at the doorway. "I’ll teach her a lesson! She’s a grown woman, how can she bully the kids?"

Prince Charles chuckled, "Luowa, your father is bullying you too?"

"Yes!" Yi Luowa sniffled pitifully. "The two of them are working together..."

"There are guests here, and your mom wants to make a scene? Doesn’t she worry about being laughed at?" Tong Jiaqi stood up.

Prince Charles shot him a look.

Tong Jiaqi caught his arm. "No sitting down now; help Luowa fight back—look how upset she is."

Prince Charles smiled and followed Tong Jiaqi out the door.

After they stepped out, Yi Luowa slammed the study door shut with a "bang."

Tong Jiaqi turned and glanced at her, "Don’t lock the door; Grandpa and I haven’t finished our game yet."

"Play after lunch." Yi Luowa hooked her arm through Tong Jiaqi’s and Prince Charles’ elbows and happily led the two back to the living room.

The two elderly men knew they’d been tricked but couldn’t bring themselves to say anything harsh to her.

After lunch, King Muta and Queen Royce arrived. She had come especially to visit Queen Haotian.

Everyone was chatting in the living room when a sudden "wahwah" cry came from Sangyu in her stroller.

Long Che strode over with a stern face.

Nancy, who was closest to Sangyu, was startled by Long Che’s demeanor and hurriedly explained, "Her blanket corner covered her face; I was just trying to pull it away..."

Without a word, Long Che picked up his granddaughter. He was baffled—why did his granddaughter dislike Nancy so much?

Yi Luowa, seeing Nancy awkwardly fidgeting with her fingers, sat down next to her with a smile. "Kids are like that—they cry and laugh whenever they want. Don’t mind it."

"Mhm." Nancy smiled awkwardly.

The entire afternoon, Nancy tried to steer clear of Sangyu. But even so, whenever the child came within two meters of her, she’d cry nonstop.

Finally, Yi Luowa had had enough. She took Sangyu from Long Che’s arms and carried her upstairs.

She placed Sangyu on her little bed and scolded her with puffed cheeks, "Baby, why are you being so naughty today? If you keep this up, Mommy won’t like you anymore."

Sangyu stared at her mom with wide, teary eyes, sparkling droplets still clinging to the corners.

Yi Luowa sighed helplessly, unable to resist her pitiful look.

Just as mother and daughter were caught in a staring contest, Danton shuffled upstairs.

Yi Luowa glanced at him and quickly shut the door.

Danton held up his phone and whispered, "Sister Luowa, should I send these numbers to you or directly to Brother Pengpeng?"

"Send your attendants’ numbers to Pengpeng and your mom’s attendants’ numbers to Little Roy. You didn’t miss anyone, right?"

"Nope. After lunch, I started sneaking these numbers together. I checked one by one—no one’s left out."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and smiled. "Good work."

Danton pouted, "The real hard worker here is you."

"I didn’t do anything." Yi Luowa pulled out her phone and sent Pengpeng and Little Roy’s numbers to Danton.

As Danton forwarded the numbers, he muttered, "Queen Royce and my mom agreed to visit the royal palace the day after tomorrow. From what I’ve heard, my mom plans to return to Haotian afterward."

Yi Luowa paused briefly. "So soon?"

"Are you going to miss me? Hehe, I knew it!" Danton cheekily wiggled his eyebrows at Yi Luowa. "I’m not leaving, though—I haven’t had enough fun yet."

Yi Luowa rolled her eyes. "Which of your eyes sees me missing you? If you don’t leave, will your mom even let you?"

"Of course not! But she can’t catch me; I’ll just go missing." Danton laughed smugly. "By the way, Uncle Che and Aunt Tong Yao told my mom and sister to stay at the Duke’s Mansion for the next few days. King Muta agreed, saying this place is the safest."

"That’s wonderful news!" Yi Luowa’s heart felt inexplicably lighter upon hearing that Queen Haotian would be staying at home.

"It’s good, but my sister doesn’t seem too happy about staying here. She says Sangyu cries every time she sees her and worries it’ll be bad for the child."

"Who knows what Sangyu’s fussing about today? She’s driving me insane!"

"What’s the point of being mad at a kid? Once I’m done here, I’ll take care of Sangyu for you. I guarantee she won’t cry even once."

Quickly finishing up the phone numbers, Danton began entertaining Sangyu with all sorts of toys.

Yi Luowa watched them with a smile—this scene couldn’t be more heartwarming.

It wasn’t until almost four o’clock that the three children finally fell asleep. After settling them in, Yi Luowa and Danton went back downstairs.

At four-thirty, Tong Airui called Yi Luowa, saying he had just landed.

Yi Luowa giggled foolishly, "Do you want me to greet you at the courtyard gate, or at the living room door?"

"I’d rather be greeted in bed!" Tong Airui teased with a playful laugh over the phone.

Yi Luowa hurriedly covered the receiver and glanced around, relieved to see no reaction from anyone, before softly replying, "We have guests at home; I’ll hang up now."

Tong Yao, sitting closest to Yi Luowa, heard everything her son said but, as the mother-in-law, suppressed any urge to laugh in front of so many people.

Holding back a chuckle, Tong Yao asked, "Will Rui’er make it home by five?"

"Yes." Yi Luowa nodded blissfully.

Danton’s eyes gleamed with mischief as he skipped over to Yi Luowa. "Sister Luowa, should we play a little game with Airui Duke?"

Yi Luowa eyed him suspiciously, "You’re up to trouble again, aren’t you?"

"Not at all!" Danton grinned. "Let’s let my sister take your place greeting Airui Duke and see if he notices."
