Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 550 - 472: Eleven Updates
Four Lord hadn’t even had dinner yet, but he was already in a good mood. Poor Universal Wawa, though, was miserable.
Yi Luowa lay on the bed groaning. Four Lord chuckled as he scooped her up and placed her on top of him. "Will you dare be disobedient again in the future?"
Yi Luowa opened her mouth and bit his chin.
Tong Airui laughed and gave her a light smack. "Can’t you bite somewhere that doesn’t leave a visible mark?"
"I’m biting here on purpose, making sure you can’t show your face in public!" Yi Luowa bit down a little harder before releasing him with a noisy sigh.
Just as Tong Airui was about to say something, his phone chimed with a notification. Four Lord reached for the phone, glanced at the screen, and his expression darkened slightly.
Yi Luowa noticed his face had stiffened and instinctively furrowed her brows, trying to get off him.
Tong Airui pulled her back into his embrace and flipped the phone to show her. "Look at how ugly you look in this photo—whoever took this has terrible photography skills."
Yi Luowa took a glance and suddenly perked up. "Who did this?"
Tong Airui chuckled softly. "It’s from an unknown number. I’ll look into who’s behind this."
Yi Luowa was momentarily stunned. The photo showed her embracing Ke Jingran, surrounded by a sea of flowers. But when did she ever hug Ke Jingran?
"Honey, aren’t you going to ask me what’s going on?"
Tong Airui glanced at her. "Can you explain it clearly?"
Yi Luowa pouted. "No, I can’t explain it."
"If I don’t trust my own wife, then who can I trust? You don’t need to explain—I’ll go question whoever sent me this photo. I want to know why they did this and what they hope to gain from it."
"Honey, you actually believe me?" Yi Luowa looked at him with teary eyes.
Those tears weren’t out of grievance for being falsely accused but rather a surge of emotion triggered by Tong Airui’s trust. Given his personality, his initial reaction to such incidents should have been outrage. But this time, he remained calm and chose to trust her.
"Moved?" Tong Airui smiled, reaching up to wipe her tears from the corner of her eye. "Get off now. I’ll clear your name."
Yi Luowa slid off him but suddenly remembered something. She reached for the phone and examined the photo again carefully. Her small face instantly fell.
"Honey, I’m not innocent..."
Tong Airui furrowed his brows slightly. "What do you mean?"
"I did hug Ke Jingran."
Tong Airui’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Look at Ke Jingran’s eyes, and then look at how stiff his posture is..." Yi Luowa hurried to explain. "This photo must have been taken in the lounge of a funeral home. Back then, he had fainted, and I caught him. It’s just that instant—Old Eight and Joyina were both there, too. If you don’t believe me, you can ask them."
"I’ll find out who’s behind this." Tong Airui finished dressing and got out of bed. Taking one step, he turned back and added, "From now on, no matter who faints, you are not allowed to catch them!"
"What about you?" Yi Luowa paused in the middle of buttoning her shirt.
"I wouldn’t be that fragile!" Tong Airui snorted and opened the laptop sitting on the coffee table. "Troublemaker! Interrupting my plans yet again!"
Yi Luowa raised a pillow and threw it at him.
Tong Airui caught the pillow and considered throwing it back but couldn’t bring himself to do it. "Just wait! You owe me tonight—I’ll make sure you can’t go visit your Second Uncle tomorrow!"
"Beast!" Yi Luowa shuffled off little by little. "My legs are still trembling right now!"
"If your legs don’t work, why are you getting off? Lie back down!" Tong Airui connected his phone to the computer and tapped the keyboard lightly.
Yi Luowa scooted nearer and sat beside him. She wanted to see who had dared to mess with her.
"Do you even understand what you’re looking at?" Tong Airui noticed her staring eagerly at the screen and teased her.
"Nope."
"Then why are you looking?" Tong Airui laughed and ruffled her hair. "Seriously, you—you’re always finding ways to give me more headaches. Both Old Eight and Joyina were right there; why didn’t you make them catch him instead?"
Yi Luowa pouted. "I saw him falling; what was I supposed to do, yell out, ’Old Eight, don’t let Four Brother be petty—I don’t dare catch him, so you do it’?"
"Petty? If I were really petty, do you think you’d be sitting here comfortably? I’d have smacked you flying ages ago." Tong Airui keyed in a string of numbers and then focused on the screen.
"What can you find out with that?"
"Restore the photo."
Yi Luowa pouted again. "I thought you were going to trace who sent the message."
"Tracing that, too." Tong Airui opened another program. "Unless he didn’t use a phone—if he did, I can pinpoint his location."
The photo was quickly restored. Seeing the funeral ribbons in the background, Tong Airui frowned slightly.
"Look at Joyina’s hand in the bottom right—it looks like she was reaching out to grab him but missed," Yi Luowa pointed out.
"Why do you think he did this? What’s his motive?"
"Maybe he has a grudge against me or Ke Jingran and wanted to use your hand to punish the two of us."
"Did you offend anyone lately?"
Yi Luowa sulkily nodded. "I offended all the women who dream of marrying you!"
Tong Airui’s eyes brimmed with laughter as he glanced at her. He transferred the tracking system to his phone and shut down the computer.
"Let’s go have dinner. We’ll deal with this afterward."
"Can’t you do something other than this for once?"
"This is all I do!"
"Believe me—I’ll get pregnant again and make you live like a monk for another year! No, wait—one year isn’t enough for you! I’ll learn from Li Jing’s wife and make it three years!"
Tong Airui pinched her cheek lightly. "You planning to birth another Nezha for me?"
Yi Luowa laughed and nodded.
Tong Airui shot her a sideways glance. "No seeds—I’d like to see how you sprout!"
In a corner hidden from his view, Yi Luowa’s lips curved into a sly smile.
That mysterious phone number didn’t respond all night, even when it was time for them to sleep.
Tong Airui felt like laughing. Whatever this person’s intentions were, not only did they fail but they also inadvertently brought him great satisfaction.
The next day, the couple went their separate ways—one heading to Langshi, the other to the estate.
When Tong Airui arrived downstairs at Langshi Mall, Bert and Dean showed up immediately.
Tong Airui frowned slightly. "With such capable subordinates, why do you still insist on dragging me here?"
Bert smiled. "Men and women have different aesthetics—your taste is what I trust."
"How many sets of gowns are there? Can we finish trying them all in one morning?"
"In a hurry? Dean said he wanted to invite you and Luowa for lunch at noon."
Dean smiled warmly. "I haven’t seen Luowa in ages—I actually miss her quite a bit. Why didn’t she come along?"
"Exactly, I told you yesterday to bring her too!"
"Luowa went to her Second Uncle’s place," Tong Airui said as he took long strides toward the mall. "You should’ve asked them to send the clothes to the palace for fitting—they have that service."
"Luowa went to her Second Uncle’s house alone?" Dean sounded unusually intrigued by Luowa heading out alone.
"I got dragged here as your laborer, courtesy of Bert," Tong Airui glanced back.
Dean chuckled. "You scared me—I thought the two of you had fought!"
"Hey, Airui! What happened to your chin? Did someone bite you? Haha... Dean, I bet they really did fight. Otherwise, with him being such a wife slave, he’d be trailing after her every step!"
Dean pressed his lips together, trying to stifle his laughter.
Tong Airui snorted. "You two better shut your mouths. If you piss me off, I’ll leave this job!"
"Haha... Don’t! I’m counting on you to oversee this!"
Dean smiled. "I’ve noticed that among the lot of us, Airui has the most stylish wardrobe. Luowa must be a fashion guru—I’ll need to learn from her in the future." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Tong Airui shook his head helplessly. "Don’t even bring her up. Her wardrobe—guess who buys her clothes? Me!"
Dean smirked slightly and pulled Bert along as they followed him into the elevator.
