Chapter 539: Chapter 461 Where have you hidden the person? (Three updates)

Everyone had left, and Yi Luowa dragged Joyina into her office. Once the door was closed, she grinned and asked, "Joyina, where did you find this gem? That looks, that charm—I’m betting with him around, your debut project is going to be a big hit!"

"Turns out you’re so superficial?" Joyina scoffed disdainfully. "I don’t care about that stuff. When I picked him, it was all about what’s inside—he’s got a natural noble elegance, like jade. It aligns perfectly with the character in my script."

Yi Luowa curled her lips. "You wrote our Tong Airui to be a gentle and refined noble gentleman?"

"I only used him as the prototype; it’s not really about him. Honestly, I don’t like fourth brother’s personality. He’s petty and overly suspicious of other men, like they’re thieves trying to run off with you. But look at our third brother—he’s so chill with me..."

"Luowa, is Joyina with you?" Mi Chenshuo’s voice came from outside the door.

Yi Luowa quickly clamped her hand over Joyina’s mouth. "Third brother, Joyina left with Ke Jingran."

"That little brat! She promised me she wouldn’t be alone with him. The moment I turned around, she ran off."

Joyina desperately pulled at Yi Luowa’s hand. No way could Mi Chenshuo misunderstand her. He was already so jealous when she chose Ke Jingran as the male lead; she had begged him for days before he grudgingly agreed. If there was another misunderstanding, he definitely wouldn’t let her off easily.

Yi Luowa smirked mischievously and asked, "Didn’t you say my third brother wasn’t petty? Why so scared now?"

"Mmm mmm..." Joyina frantically shook her head.

"So, are you still going to call Tong Airui petty in the future?"

Joyina shook her head even harder.

Yi Luowa grinned and finally let her go.

Joyina glared at her and playfully shook her fist before hurriedly leaving the room.

Mi Chenshuo was outside, huffing with frustration. Seeing her emerge, he paused in surprise. "Weren’t you off with that guy-whatever-his-name?"

Joyina pouted. "Luowa was teasing you. I’ve been with her the whole time—don’t believe me? Go in and check. It’s just the two of us in there."

Mi Chenshuo glanced toward Yi Luowa’s office.

Yi Luowa waved at him with a smile. "Third brother, relax. I’ll keep an eye on her for you in the next few days."

"I—I—I only have eyes for our Mi Chenshuo. Not just eyes, my heart too! I don’t need you watching me!" Joyina glared at Yi Luowa and grabbed Mi Chenshuo’s arm with a laugh. "Honey, let’s not listen to her. All she does is try to stir up trouble between us. Yi Luowa is nothing but a troublemaker!"

"Who are you talking about?!" Tong Airui frowned as he walked over. "What did you say just now? I didn’t catch it—say it again."

Joyina twisted her lips and hid behind Mi Chenshuo.

Tong Airui gave her a sideways glance, then turned to Mi Chenshuo and said teasingly, "Hey, who’s this?"

Mi Chenshuo shot him a glare. "Your third brother!"

"Third brother, huh? I almost didn’t recognize you. If your wife weren’t here with me, I bet you wouldn’t even show up." Tong Airui nudged him and sauntered into the room.

Yi Luowa chuckled as she watched him.

"Work’s over—time to head home." Tong Airui raised his hand and shut off the computer. "Mi Chenshuo, where are you planning to hide out today?"

"Who says I’m hiding? I’m heading straight home later."

"To the Duke’s mansion or the Viscount’s estate?"

"I’ll go wherever Mom is."

Tong Airui curled his lips faintly. His third brother saying this showed he’d finally cleared that hurdle in his heart. Really, the Park Shunyan situation wasn’t his fault—if he’d known Park Shunyan was that kind of person, he never would’ve brought him here.

Downstairs, Mi Chenshuo and Joyina got into Tong Airui’s car. Just as they were settling in, Joyina realized Ke Jingran hadn’t come out yet.

She called him on the phone while Mi Chenshuo kept glaring at her suspiciously. By the time she finished the call, he snorted coldly.

Yi Luowa laughed while nudging Tong Airui. "You two really are brothers."

"I’m way better than him."

"Better than me at what?" Mi Chenshuo retorted disdainfully.

"Better than you at everything!"

Looking ready to brawl, the brothers were interrupted when Yuan Hang turned his head and remarked, "Let me say something fair: neither of you should criticize the other; you’re both cut from the same cloth!" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Fourth brother, hurry up and assign him somewhere else! I get a headache just looking at him now."

Tong Airui shrugged. "I’m not sending him away; I’ll send Kou’er instead."

Yuan Hang smirked and started the car.

"Only you can handle him!" Mi Chenshuo burst out laughing.

Yuan Hang shook his head in resignation. "From this point on, I’m done talking!"

Mi Chenshuo and Tong Airui kept going at it, leaving Yuan Hang to play peacemaker again before the two started another argument.

This time, though, Tong Airui wasn’t really to blame. Mi Chenshuo had apologized to him over the Park Shunyan incident, which only annoyed Tong Airui even more.

Joyina noticed Yi Luowa ignoring them and decided to do the same. Even as the car neared the mansion gates, they were still quarreling. Growing impatient, Joyina snapped, "Will you two cut it out already?!"

Yi Luowa grinned mischievously and said, "Joyina, don’t bother stopping them. Let them fight—in a moment, someone else will take care of them."

Tong Airui glanced out the car window and wisely shut his mouth.

Mi Chenshuo nudged him. "Fine, I won’t bring it up again."

Tong Airui raised a brow. "If you say it again, we’re no longer brothers!"

"Deal!"

The car stopped, and the pair immediately halted their quarrel, stepping out and walking side by side into the hall.

Joyina chuckled. "Two little kids!"

"Not just two—it’s a whole family of kids!"

It was a lively day at home since Yi Luowa had received an impressive hero’s medal. During dinner, everyone even shared some drinks to celebrate.

Tong Yao was in good spirits, too, thinking she might sneak a sip, but before her hand could touch the glass, Long Che reached out and placed it in front of himself.

"You know your own tolerance—don’t even think about it."

"Just one sip; it’ll be fine."

"Remember back in the day? It was just one sip..."

Back in the day, one sip had cost her chastity! Tong Yao’s face flushed crimson, spreading all the way to her ears. Worried her children might notice her odd expression, she feigned a cough to distract them.

"Why did Muta insist on giving Luowa her medal in the palace instead of at the victory banquet?"

"With everything going on, do you think Muta dares to hold a banquet?"

Tong Yao frowned slightly.

"The situation’s gotten so out of hand; public opinion hasn’t settled yet. If there’s a banquet, someone’s bound to stir up trouble."

Tong Yao sighed. "True."

Long Che raised Tong Yao’s untouched wine and downed it in one gulp. "At the end of the month, come with me to Haotian."

"Why are we going to Haotian again?" Tong Yao’s first thought was about the kids—what would happen to them?

"The Queen of Haotian wants to take in a goddaughter; she sent us an invitation."

Tong Yao suddenly remembered. "So much has been happening lately—I completely forgot. You know, that child really does look like our Luowa!"

Long Che turned to Tong Airui. "Have you gotten what you wanted yet?"

Tong Airui shook his head. "There’s no opportunity—she hasn’t left the palace."

Long Che gently patted Tong Yao’s shoulder. "Looks like it’s time for you to shine."

Tong Yao laughed. "For Luowa, I’ll make sure to get it done."

Yi Luowa glanced up at her mother-in-law. "Mom, my gut tells me she’s got nothing to do with me. If it looks too risky, don’t push yourself."

"There won’t be any danger. With my position—even if I swiped something, no one would dare call me a thief to my face. Worst case, they’ll badmouth your dad behind my back, saying he married a greedy woman."

Long Che shook his head with a chuckle. "You’re not greedy, just a bit stingy."

"Not just a bit—very stingy!" Yan Zi chimed in.

Tong Yao pointed at her kids. "I’m stingy with myself, not with you! Say that again and neither of you will have dinner!"

"Hahaha..." Everyone in the dining room burst out laughing.

Tong Yao grinned, half-annoyed. "Stop laughing and eat your food!"

Tong Airui looked serious, addressing his mother. "Mom, let’s be subtle with our tactics—don’t embarrass Dad."

"Embarrassing him depends on my mood." Tong Yao shot a glance at Long Che. "From now on, you’d better behave. Otherwise, I’ll take your reputation and toss it in Haotian."

"Haotian’s too small, Mom—let’s make it the Cat Planet!" Tong Aino’s laughter came from outside.

"How did this little rascal make it back?" Tong Yao smiled toward the dining room door. "Why didn’t you two call ahead? I could’ve made something special for you."

Tong Aino wandered inside. "Not ’two’—just me. I broke up with Connie!"

Tong Yao froze momentarily before breaking into a laugh. "Stop joking! Where have you hidden Connie?"

"I really came alone." Tong Aino wasn’t joking; he looked completely serious as he sat down.

Yu, still chewing, glanced at Tong Aino, dashed out briefly, then ran back in. "Reporting, Auntie—the fifth sister-in-law really didn’t come back!"
