Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 531 - 455: The Child Will Laugh at You (Third Update)
Yi Luowa’s head buzzed, "I never heard she was pregnant—how is it a miscarriage? Where is she?"
Tong Airui patted her head, "Wife, don’t panic yet. I said it might happen, not for sure. You is with her, and they should be on the plane right now. I’ve arranged for the plane to send her straight to Old Seventh’s place. Everything will be fine!"
Yi Luowa broke free from his embrace and staggered out toward the door.
Tong Airui hurried after her, "Slow down, don’t trip again."
Outside the door, a large group was gathering—military and police troops were lining up to prepare for dismissal.
Yi Luowa stopped in her tracks when she noticed everyone looking at her.
"Thank you, Lady Luowa, salute!"
At Angelo’s command, all the military and police officers raised their right hands.
The sight startled Yi Luowa; she hadn’t done much, but this was far too grand! Her mouth twitched slightly, and she returned the salute.
"Report! The team has assembled. Awaiting instructions!" Captain Ming ran over to Tong Airui.
"Dismiss the troops."
The members of the Eagle Squad began boarding their vehicles. Mi Chenxuan ran over, "Captain, the plane escorting Huo Li has already taken off. We have no choice but to drive back."
"Let Duke Airui take my plane," Angelo walked over.
Tong Airui glanced at his wife’s anxious face and quickly pulled her hand to board Angelo’s plane.
After takeoff, Angelo looked gratefully at Yi Luowa, "Lady Luowa, I really have to thank you this time. If not for you, we wouldn’t have caught him so quickly. If he had harmed anyone else again, I’d have no choice but to resign."
"It’s only because he was intrigued by my hand..." Yi Luowa looked at her hand and smiled wryly. "Inspector Angelo, my gun only shoots tranquilizer darts. The anesthetic effect lasts about three hours, so you must carefully guard him. He has a very strong personality within—if that dominant personality takes over, he becomes an extremely dangerous individual."
"I promise to keep a close watch on him!" Angelo nodded appreciatively. "After my teacher called me, I looked into similar cases globally. This one is indeed tricky. If someone as dangerous as him is acquitted and released, he’ll likely continue threatening society."
"My dad has already been in contact with President Park. He’ll be here shortly. As for what happens to him, that’s out of our control. If he’s acquitted, you can restrict his entry into the country."
"That’s about the only authority I have left." Angelo chuckled bitterly.
Tong Airui patted his shoulder with a laugh, "Don’t be so pessimistic. At least we captured him without losing any of our men. You can conclude the case, and as for what happens next, my dad will negotiate with them. We’ll make sure the victims didn’t lose their lives for nothing."
Angelo nodded, "There are still a few unidentified murder victims. If we can pry open his lips before he’s taken away..."
"If it’s possible, you’ll know when you try. Even when President Park arrives, he won’t immediately meet Park Shunyan. You can exploit the time gap."
"He’s actually quite pitiful; otherwise, he wouldn’t have developed so many personalities." Yi Luowa sighed and glanced at her phone. "When will Huo Li arrive at the hospital?"
"She took off earlier than us and should already be there. We’ll arrive in about ten minutes." Thinking about the baby in Huo Li’s womb, Tong Airui’s heart grew heavy. He rubbed Yi Luowa’s head forcefully, "Good people have their own blessings. Second Uncle and Huo Li are such wonderful people; their baby will surely be fine."
"If something happens, I don’t dare imagine..." Yi Luowa leaned weakly into Tong Airui’s arms. "She’s pregnant, but she didn’t even tell me. When I see her later, I’ll give her a good scolding!"
Tong Airui laughed and patted her shoulder, "Alright, I’ll help you teach her a lesson then!"
"You better not lay a hand on her!" Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose. "You’re too rough. If you hurt her, I’d feel heartbroken!"
Tong Airui shook his head helplessly and turned to Angelo with a laugh, "Being a man is so hard! Trying to please my wife, but still getting it wrong."
Angelo chuckled, "Seeing you two is like looking at my teacher and the Prime Minister back in the day. Your relationship is enviably good."
Tong Airui simply smiled.
Yi Luowa kept staring at her phone, torn between her desire to see Huo Li and debating whether to call Second Uncle.
Tong Airui glanced at her phone, "Don’t overthink it. Soon, you’ll see everything for yourself."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and tucked her phone into her pocket.
The plane quickly descended onto the hospital lawn. Yi Luowa disembarked and immediately dialed You’s number.
"What floor are you on? How’s Huo Li doing?"
"We’re on the tenth floor. My Seventh Sister-in-Law brought a whole group of doctors inside. We don’t know her condition yet."
Yi Luowa grabbed Tong Airui’s hand and headed toward the lobby. "Has Second Uncle arrived?"
"He’s right beside me. Do you want to talk to him?"
Yi Luowa hesitated before hanging up. She truly didn’t know what to say to Second Uncle.
As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, they spotted Yi Weiyang sitting on a bench.
Yi Luowa dragged herself over, "Second Uncle..."
Yi Weiyang glanced at her and gestured to the seat beside him, "Good thing you’re back safe and sound. Must’ve been scary, huh?"
Yi Luowa shook her head and sat next to him, "Second Uncle, Huo Li will be fine!"
"Yeah, don’t worry too much—she’ll be okay." Yi Weiyang patted her shoulder, "Did Huo Li tell you she’s pregnant?"
Yi Luowa froze, "No, you didn’t know either?"
Yi Weiyang frowned and nodded.
"What was she thinking!" Yi Luowa puffed her cheeks in frustration.
"She was just worried I wouldn’t want the child." Yi Weiyang sighed, "She’s so foolish. I already agreed—how could I ever go back on my word?"
Yi Luowa clutched his hand tightly, "Second Uncle, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, Huo Li wouldn’t have been kidnapped. If she hadn’t been kidnapped, she wouldn’t be lying here."
"You always blame yourself for everything!" Yi Weiyang glared at her gruffly. "As soon as trouble arose, Airui immediately sent people to protect us. You did everything you could, but if something happened, it was fate."
Yi Luowa sighed, "I just don’t understand. Huo Li was at the company with guards around her—how did she end up kidnapped by that man?"
"She was unsettled all day. She told me she was upset and wanted to go out for some air. As soon as she left, Airui’s people showed up. I knew there was danger when I called her, but her phone was turned off. I led a search team but couldn’t find her..."
"Why was she upset out of nowhere? Did you upset her?" Yi Luowa pouted indignantly.
Yi Weiyang shook his head helplessly. "This morning, she said her stomach hurt. I suggested the hospital, but she insisted she was fine. Now that I think about it, she must’ve been uncomfortable but dared not tell me. Her distraction came from worrying about the child."
"Ah..." Yi Luowa sighed. She looked up and saw Jimo Shanshan walking out of the emergency room. She rushed over, "How’s Huo Li?"
"The bleeding has been stopped." For once, Jimo Shanshan answered quickly.
Yi Luowa sighed heavily in relief, "If the bleeding’s stopped, the baby and mother are okay, right?"
"Not necessarily. She needs to stay in the hospital for observation for a few days first."
Yi Luowa pouted.
Jimo Shanshan gave her a reassuring hug, "With me here, you can relax. I’ll make sure Huo Li keeps the baby safe. This morning, she called me asking for a decent obstetrician. I specially invited Professor Hong, and luckily he hadn’t left."
"Thank you, Shanshan. This child must be kept safe; otherwise, I’ll feel guilty for the rest of my life."
Yi Weiyang walked over and shot her an annoyed glance, "If you dare say that again, don’t call me Second Uncle anymore. Who taught you to always take blame upon yourself?"
"Don’t rile up Second Uncle anymore." Tong Airui wrapped Yi Luowa in a hug. "Wife, you can relax now. With Professor Hong here, Huo Li and the baby will both be fine."
"Hmm." Yi Luowa bit her lip and stared anxiously at the emergency room door.
Within five minutes of Jimo Shanshan’s exit, Huo Li was wheeled out.
Huo Li looked at Yi Weiyang and burst into tears, "Uncle..."
Yi Weiyang raised a hand to wipe her tears gently, "No more crying. You’re going to be a mother now—if you cry like this, your baby might laugh at you."
His words finally brought a smile to Huo Li’s tear-stained face.
