Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 511 - 440: Help Me Find Someone (Three Updates)
Yi Luowa cast a glance at him and found a corner to sit down. This time, she came with a genuine attitude of learning, even bringing a notebook. As soon as she sat down, she listened and took notes.
The meeting lasted until ten o’clock. Tong Airui went into a small conference room to make a few calls, and when he came out, he nodded towards Colin.
Colin instantly understood, picked up the mic, and announced loudly, "Begin the attack!"
With his command, the Divine Eagle fired its first shot.
...
In the strategic command center of Haotian Kingdom, the Emperor of Haotian watched the battle unfold on the large screen, a smile spreading across his face.
The Commander-in-Chief of Haotian’s tri-army force spoke with some excitement, "Emperor Haotian, Xia Wu’s Divine Eagle has made its move!"
"Yes, I just received a call from Duke Airui," Emperor Haotian chuckled, "Let’s rely on our forces as much as possible. We don’t want outsiders thinking that without Xia Wu, Haotian is nothing but a pile of useless mud that can’t stand on its own."
"Understood!"
"This style of attack doesn’t seem to match Airui’s command style, does it?" One of the strategists scrutinized the battle for a moment then voiced his doubts.
"The commander for this campaign is Vice Captain Colin." Emperor Haotian turned to the Commander-in-Chief, "Connect with Colin; you need to stay in constant contact with him. This man has a fiery temper and strikes with unusual ruthlessness. Try not to provoke him."
"Understood!" The Commander-in-Chief responded and dialed the dedicated line.
After watching for a bit longer, the Emperor’s personal guard entered the room, leaned close, and whispered two sentences to him.
Emperor Haotian furrowed his brows slightly and quickly left the command room.
The Empress of Haotian had just returned from the prison when Emperor Haotian entered the palace chambers.
The Empress was slightly stunned, "What brings you back? How is the battle progressing?"
Emperor Haotian sighed, "Xia Wu has already deployed its forces. This time, our victory is assured. I returned just to check on you. Don’t bother looking at her if she irritates you."
"I need to keep an eye on her!" The Empress of Haotian furrowed her brows tightly. "Don’t worry about me; my ability to recover is strong. She’s always calling me an unkillable cockroach—well then, I’ll let her see me alive and kicking."
Emperor Haotian’s hand gently rested on her shoulder, "Zhi Lan, you’ve been through so much."
The Empress shook her head, "Being able to be with you, no matter how tough it is, I’m willing... Randy, that child..."
Emperor Haotian looked conflicted and said, "I know you don’t like that child, but he does carry our royal bloodline. I’ll do my best to keep him out of your sight, alright?"
The Empress gave her husband a long look, "I’m going to see my son. You should busy yourself."
"Let me accompany you..."
"No need!" The Empress swiftly exited the chambers, her expression soon clouded with gloom.
Emperor Haotian sighed helplessly. He knew full well this approach hurt his wife, but some things simply couldn’t be balanced.
While Emperor Haotian fretted on one end, Tong Airui wasn’t having an easy time either.
The moment his wife entered the command center, she didn’t move from her spot. If it were just staying put, it would’ve been fine. The problem was that no matter how much he looked at her, she didn’t spare him so much as a glance.
Tong Airui was restless, yet with so many people watching, he couldn’t muster the courage to approach his wife. If she ignored him, the embarrassment would be unbearable.
Finally, lunchtime rolled around. Tong Airui stood up, unable to personally call for his wife. Instead, he sneaked a look at Sheng Duheng.
Sheng Duheng got the hint. After Tong Airui stepped out, Sheng Duheng walked over to Yi Luowa and lightly tapped her shoulder, "Let’s eat first."
"People are still here," Yi Luowa whispered.
"We’ll take turns eating. We’ll go first."
Yi Luowa nodded, grabbed her notebook, and followed Sheng Duheng out.
"Second Uncle, bring up my Third Brother’s matter during lunch," Yi Luowa said.
Sheng Duheng hesitated, "Is this really the right time to raise it?"
Yi Luowa smiled mysteriously, "Now’s the perfect opportunity. You just bring it up; I’ll back you up from the side."
"Alright, I’ll follow your lead!"
Just as the two finished "scheming," Tong Airui turned from the window to look their way.
Yi Luowa glanced at him.
Tong Airui’s mouth twitched, "Finally willing to look at me?"
Yi Luowa ignored him, turning to Sheng Duheng instead and asked with a smile, "Second Uncle, what’s good at the cafeteria today? It’s been so long since I’ve had cafeteria food."
Sheng Duheng couldn’t figure out her angle but played along. Whatever she asked, he answered.
"I don’t know exactly. Let’s go find out. If nothing suits your taste, I’ll have them prepare something special for you."
"Yi Luowa?" His wife swaggered past him, and Tong Airui’s mouth twitched fiercely.
Yi Luowa paused briefly mid-step, turned her head, and said, "Captain, aren’t you going to eat?"
Tong Airui snorted lightly, "I thought you’d forgotten who I was."
"Captain sure loves joking. Even if I forget everyone, I wouldn’t forget you. After all, I rely on you for my livelihood."
"These two kids!" Sheng Duheng chuckled, quickening his steps. "Hurry and eat lunch. Then they can eat in shifts."
Yi Luowa nodded in agreement and tugged at a still-rooted Tong Airui.
His wife finally acknowledging him, Tong Airui finally moved his feet.
The three entered a private dining room. As they waited for the food, Sheng Duheng cleared his throat, "Airui, about Chen Shuo—he’s still waiting on your decision; what do you think?"
"Tell him no, and stop causing me trouble!" Tong Airui vented some of his frustration by using this as an outlet.
"It’s not really causing trouble. Aren’t we recruiting new team members anyway..." Sheng Duheng repeated Yi Luowa’s idea word for word.
After hearing him out, Tong Airui turned to Yi Luowa, "This idea’s yours, isn’t it?"
Yi Luowa smiled sweetly and nodded.
"So you’re trying to convince me to agree to my Third Brother’s request?"
"That’s your decision," Yi Luowa replied, still smiling.
Tong Airui curved his lips slightly, "If I don’t agree, I can already predict the consequences."
Yi Luowa grinned, "Tong Airui, we seem to have another unresolved matter between us. If you haven’t figured out this one, perhaps we should address the other first?"
Tong Airui placed his arm across the back of her chair, "If I give you a satisfactory answer for this one, does that mean we don’t need to discuss the other?"
"Sure!" Yi Luowa decisively nodded.
Tong Airui arched his eyebrow slightly, "Second Uncle, tell my Third Brother to get the promo video made as soon as possible."
"Alright!" Sheng Duheng smiled and nodded. That matter was settled!
Tong Airui leaned closer to Yi Luowa, "Wife, can you smile in a less creepy way?"
"Hehe..." Yi Luowa responded with a cold laugh. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Tong Airui laughed and ruffled her hair, saying to Sheng Duheng, "Second Uncle, my wife is tougher than my mother. She throws a tantrum without a single word."
"I don’t see that at all!" Sheng Duheng laughed, "I find Yi Luowa utterly charming."
Tong Airui curled his lips slightly, "Second Uncle, place my Third Brother’s people under Brother Chen Yi’s supervision. He’s emblematic of our Divine Eagle squad. A promo clip featuring him would be persuasive."
Sheng Duheng smiled at Tong Airui, "This trait definitely runs in the family; you pay someone back the moment they cross you. Fine, I’ll place him with Chen Yi’s squad. Since I foolishly took this on, I’ll own it."
Yi Luowa pouted slightly, "Husband, Chen Yi’s squad is indeed excellent, but it’s a training base. With such grueling practices, can the actors endure it?"
"The point is that they can’t endure it. Then they’d drop out, and Brother Chen Yi’s workload would lighten up." Tong Airui smiled as he looked at Sheng Duheng, "Second Uncle, wouldn’t you agree I’m right?"
Afraid of causing his son trouble, Sheng Duheng quickly nodded his agreement.
Yi Luowa smiled tightly, "Judging by this, you and your father must have bullied Second Uncle more than once."
"I’ve never bullied my Second Uncle!" Tong Airui responded as the food was served, respectfully handing chopsticks to Sheng Duheng, "Second Uncle, please eat first."
"You rascal!" Sheng Duheng laughed as he accepted the chopsticks.
After lunch, the three returned to the command center. No sooner had Tong Airui sat down than a call came in from Mu Ta.
Tong Airui immediately pressed the answer button.
Over the phone came Mu Ta’s laughter, "You’re hitting hard—this battle has scarcely begun, and they’re already struggling."
Tong Airui replied with a smile, "This campaign is under Vice Captain Colin’s command. You know his temperament; he won’t go easy on them. Have the opponents requested a ceasefire?"
"Not yet, but over the phone, they’ve expressed strong dissatisfaction."
"If they’re not ready to end it, then keep fighting!" Tong Airui frowned slightly, "There’s no way we’re letting them dominate the seas."
"Alright, keep at it. Meanwhile, I’ll have Bert calculate the expenses for this round. I’ll make those two old geezers reimburse me for it." Mu Ta abruptly ceased laughing and lowered his voice deliberately, "Airui, do me a favor—track someone down."
Tong Airui paused, "Who are we looking for?"
