Betrothed To An Alpha? I Don't Think So!-Chapter 96: What About My Wrists?
Chapter 96: What About My Wrists?
Zayne paced back and forth outside in the living room.
Siena was treating Dario in his room. And Alessio...he was seated on one of the sofas.
Neither of them had spoken to each other, but he was just as worried as he was.
His head was banging. He didn’t know what to do anymore, or where to shift to. He wanted to do everything to find Evelyn, but Dario on the other hand was in a—
Siena walked out into the living room. She looked at them.
Alessio stood to his feet immediately and hurried toward her. "How is he? How is Dario?"
"Well..." Siena seemed to be hesitating for some reason, and they couldn’t tell.
Zayne frowned at her. "What is it? Why are you hesitating? Is something wrong with Dario? Did something—"
"He was shot twice. Not once," Siena interrupted, saying.
He flickered his eyes, letting the information sink into his head. "T-twice?"
"Yes."
Alessio quickly grabbed her hand. "What are you saying? Are you saying he’s not going to make it? Is that—is that what you’re trying to say?"
"No."
Siena shook her head.
"He’s in a critical condition, and he’s still unconscious for now. I’ve stopped the bleeding, but the thing is..." She bit her lip. "He’s lost a lot of blood. Too much actually and he’s going to die if we don’t find a blood transfusion for him."
"W-what?" Alessio staggered back, his eyes growing wet. "He’s...he’;s going to...he’s going to die?"
"He has a high chance of surviving if we can find someone for a blood transfusion and this also means we have to transfer him to the hospital. I can’t treat him here. We need to go to the hospital. And we need to find someone with the same blood type for a blood transfusion."
Zayne dragged a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair. "Fuck, fuck fuck."
He turned to Siena. "What do we do?"
"We need to get him to my hospital now."
"And what about the blood transfusion?" he asked.
"You and Alessio are going to have to come with me. I’ll have a test done and find out which one of you shares the same blood type as him. You can even bring your mom—"
"No, leave my mom out of this. It’ll break her if she finds out what has happened. And—"
"And what?" Alessio glared at him. "You don’t want her to find her? Why? Because it’s your fault that Dario is in this situation?"
Zayne balled his hands into fists. The last thing he wanted was to stand and start arguing all over again. He had too much on his hands and he didn’t have time for any of it.
So he turned and began to walk outside to get the car ready.
"Go on. Keep pretending like you don’t hear what I’m saying. But know that if anything happens to Dario, it’ll be your fault and no one else’s—"
Zayne grabbed the nearest vase and smashed it on the floor, feeling like he was losing his mind.
"What? It’s my fault? Huh?"
"Isn’t it?" Alessio leveled him with a seething glare. "If you hadn’t dumped your mate’s problem on us, none of this would’ve happened. Dario would be perfectly fine by now, safe and sound."
Zayne was in his face in seconds, breathing furiously. "Did I force you? Did I force you to help me? You could have said no! And it’s not as if I wanted Dario to be a part of this in the first place. I was going to do it alone until you adamantly suggested he come with me. Now, is it my fault?"
He snatched him by the collar of his shirt. "Yes, Dario is in na bad situation, and it breaks me more than you can imagine."
"Does it?"
Alessio’s eyes grew harsh.
"It’s not like you’ve ever cared for him. You’ve always been mean to him, but guess what? The very moment you needed him, he came running to you. Would you do the same for him?"
"Fuck you, Alessio!"
Zayne shoved him.
"What the fuck do you think I am? I don’t care what problem Dario and I have, but if he ever needed me, I’d be there in the blink of an eye without a second thought. I’d come saving him like I’ve always saved you over and over again. I’d look after him like I’ve always done you over and over again. And you know why? Because he’s my brother, he’s my family. So shut the hell up, you don’t know anything. You’re the pampered one who has no clue how hard it has ever been for Dario and me."
He stormed off, not looking back once as he headed to the car.
Siena hurried over to him.
"What is going on between you two? W-why are you fighting?"
Alessio couldn’t answer her.
"Alessio!" She grabbed his hand. "Why are you fighting with Zayne? You’ve never fought with him before. What is going on now?"
Alessio wiped at his eyes before the wetness in them could break and turned away from her. "It’s my fault. Something is wrong with me and I don’t know what. I’m losing my mind, Siena and I’m—"
"Siena!"
Zayne called.
"I’ve brought the car over. Let’s get him to the hospital."
Siena nodded, dragging Alessio after her. "Help me get Dairo to the car. Quick."

"Get up," Valerio said to Evelyn. "Come and sit with me at the dining table. It would be really lonely to eat alone."
Evelyn eyed him. She wanted to fight him and hated the idea of having to succumb to this man. But remembering what the chef had told her...

It was more than better to play it safe for now.
Nodding, she allowed him to pull her up to her feet.
"Let me untie your ankles. Carrying you everywhere can be a bit tiring. I’d like you to walk by yourself, I’m sure that will make you happy." He smiled at her as he squatted down to grab her legs.
Evelyn asked, "What about my wrists?"
