The “Lark” class Interstellar Battleship was heading towards the designated coordinates.
The Outlander Colonization Team from Shadow City managed to complete their exploration and collection of resources just before the deadline.
The wizards returned to their starships, ready to head back.
Christina, sitting alone in a corner of the warship after submitting the “valuable” materials she had collected, hung her head in silence.
She never expected, before this, to suddenly receive an enlistment from the higher-ups of Shadow City to participate in this Different World exploration.
Christina had indeed heard some rumors about this particular world before she set off.
...
It was said that an heir of a Level 9 Sage from the Nostrodamus line, who had prophesied a millennium shift, hid a portion of the Nostrodamus lineage in this particular world.
This was the contingency the Saint came up with upon foreseeing the extinction of his lineage.
The hope was for the lineage to resuscitate and reappear in the world during the predicted shift.
At the time, Christina sensed a pervasive scent of conspiracy.
Upon discovering such a world reportedly harboring a lineage, Shadow City should have taken stringent measures to keep it a secret.
How could they be so clumsy as to let rumors abound?
Were they intentionally inviting covetousness?
Or, was the discovery itself a trap, a baited hook cast by a different wizard organization to reel in Shadow City?
With her unfathomable confusion and a creeping sense of danger, Christina realized she could fall victim merely by misstepping.
As such, she hastily sent her daughter, Garona, to Link Grande before setting off.
She hoped that Link would take good care of her, out of a bit of rural camaraderie, and the admittedly undeniable fact that Garona had some research value.
Christina desired nothing more than her daughter’s healthy growth.
If it were possible, Christina indulged a little in her greed, hoping that her daughter might lead a worry-free and smooth life.
Whenever she thought of her daughter, Christina’s mood grew melancholic.
She wondered how Garona was faring with Link Grande, and whether they would ever meet again in this life.
After a period of depression, Christina rallied her spirits to check her status, preparing for battle.
The expedition into the Different World took over a month, and the entire process was odd beyond belief.
The so-called particular world showed no signs of special arrangements, such as hindrances against mid to high-level wizards.
Yet, the Outlander Colonization Team that Shadow City designated for this mission was composed of merely six First Level Wizards and six Second Level Wizards.
There were neither any shadows of a Third Level Wizard nor to mention Sage-level wizards.
Furthermore, after setting off and entering the particular world—an extremely small planet, the purpose of the mission was not divulged to the team members.
Only once they had landed on the little planet, did the captain inform them of the mission’s objectives.
Upon hearing the details, Christina thought it ludicrous.
They were just instructed to wander about aimlessly, and collect items that caught their fancy, considering them valuable. Nothing more.
What was this? A pretend expedition?
Their entire approach seemed disorganized entirely based on instinct.
It was as if the higher-ups of Shadow City had organised a group of wizards to come and take their chances.
If they struck it lucky, they picked up treasure and rejoiced. If not, it didn’t really matter as their investment was minimal.
Even if it did turn out to be a trap, nothing much would be lost but a team composed of six First Level Wizards and six Second Level Wizards.
All the peculiar situations in place kept Christina on the edge.
Moreover, from what she observed, the other wizards in the team, including the captain, seemed to harbor similar feelings.
Take this moment, for instance. The warship was preparing to carry the team and the collected materials home.
All 12 members of the Outlander Colonization Team were silently preparing for the battle.
It was as if everyone had resigned to inevitable intercepts awaiting the team.
What the hell was going on?
Did everyone have a collective fit?
No.
Nobody was a fool!
Mesopotamia University was thoroughly sealed off, no one allowed in or out.
“What the hell are you guys up to?
Think we’re idiots?
Huh?
No wonder you’re becoming more and more pathetic each year!
You can’t even handle minor tasks, who else will be pathetic if not you?”
In the principal’s office, Dean Frist pointed at Principal Leopold and scolded him loudly, with his voice echoing throughout the vast campus.
Everyone, tutors, common wizards, and wizard apprentices, heard everything loud and clear.
Then, the Soundproofing Witchcraft and the Anti-eavesdropping Rune Barrier engulfed the principal’s office.
No more sounds came from the principal’s office.
However, everybody now knew something was amiss. The Mesopotamia University, known for something unknown, had upset Ravensmouth College.
Due to this, Dean Frist had boldly invaded the sealed-off Mesopotamia University to admonish Principal Leopold in his office.
Immediately, various speculations arose.
Mesopotamia University, though supposedly isolated from the world, had swiftly turned into a colander.
Various rumors, various intelligence, seeped out from here.
Extra! Extra!
Why did Dean Frist from the Ravensmouth College reprove Principal Leopold from the Mesopotamia University?
