Becoming A Tech Tycoon Begins With Regression-Chapter 216: Marry Me Ethan
"Sestra,"
a knock was heard on the door which led to the room Irina was currently in, "may I come in."
Irina just lazily glanced at the door, but said nothing in response. After all, she was not ready to deal with their shit at this time.
But the person on the other end seemed to have no intention of going away. They opened the door, stuck a head in and looked at her standing before the mirror.
Damian, who walked into the room with a satisfied smile on his face clicked his tongue, "tsk tsk tsk, and to think you were so confident when you just arrived."
Irina still chose to say nothing, still keeping her eyes on her reflected self.
"What? No reply?" Damian said, putting on a mask of pity, "I liked you better when you were talkative."
He took a seat on a couch a bit past the door, still looking at her, "you see, my business failing, thanks to you, was definitely regretting."
He paused and looked up at her to make sure she was paying attention, which she wasn't, "but looking at you now, it's all worth it."
"What do you want?" She finally turned to him and asked, but unlike what he expected, she didn't seem the least bit mad.
Instead, she had a small smile on her face.
"Well, I just wanted to inform you that your guests are here," He muttered before standing up, "oh, and your fake expression won't fool me, I know you hate our guts right now."
With that, he walked out leaving behind Irina, who still had a small smile on her face.
Damian would've been right, if he came just a moment earlier, but right now, her smile really was genuine.
Why?
Well, because she received a couple of simple texts from Ethan.
***
[A couple of minutes ago.]
{Ethan: do you want this wedding?}
She was a bit surprised at the fact that he already knew since this news hadn't even left this Mansion yet.
But then she remembered that he was the same man who had given her weapons to destroy her siblings, of course he would know.
{Irina: No.}
Her response was simple and she didn't even need to think her before typing, after all, she truly didn't want this, but then again she had no choice but to go with it.
{Ethan: then I'll keep the Belozersky's busy until they're uninterested in a wedding.}
By "keeping them busy" he meant digging up their secrets, crimes and skeletons buried so deep they themselves had forgotten where they lay.
Dealing with that would keep them too busy to think about a wedding, and even the Romanovas wouldn't want to be associated with a family linked to certain crimes.
{Irina: and I'm guessing you'll do the same to any other family my brothers manage to make a deal with?}
{Ethan:....}
He was silent for a while which caused her to chuckle, before typing.
{Irina: I have a better idea.}
There was a sly grin on her face as she waited for his response and his hesitation showed that he suspected she planned something mischievous.
{Ethan: and that is?}
{Irina: Remember the favor you owed me?} 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Ethan's suspicion grew with her question, but he just typed,
{Ethan: yes.}
{Irina: Great, what I want is for you to marry me instead.}
There was a pause on the other end. She could see him typing and pausing before starting to type again but all he could send was,
{Ethan: Huh?}
Irina couldn't help but laugh out loud, she very much wished that she could see the reaction on his face right now, after all, he barely ever had one.
{Irina: my brothers will try getting me married to get me out of the inheritance race, and father won't object if it benefits the family. But if the man I marry is someone they can't control, then their entire plan collapses.}
She turned away from the mirror, walking slowly toward the window as snow drifted lazily outside the mansion grounds.
{Irina: You don't need to love me. This would be a contract, nothing more. In return, I stay in the race, and you gain direct access to one of Russia's most entrenched power structures.}
She was right, as much as the Romanovas were benefiting from this wedding, so we're the Belozersky's after all, all her rights will now belong to her husband.
And that's exactly what her brothers wanted, they wanted her to be with someone they could control.
On the other end, Ethan stared at the message in silence. It wasn't like her request was completely unexpected but,
{Ethan: You realize what you're asking.}
The reply came almost instantly.
{Irina: I do. That's why I'm asking you, besides I like you better.}
Of course that was the only explanation she would give, since it was pretty much what what made sense to her.
{Irina: If you're worried about what Lillian would think, don't, she already agreed to help a few hours ago.}
Ethan sighed and looked towards the couch of his living room where Lillian lay asleep, she had a key to his apartment so she let herself in when he was in the lab.
Maybe she was here to talk about her discussion with Irina and ended up falling asleep.
With a sigh, he walked towards her, picked up the covers and draped it over her before looking back at his phone and typing,
{Ethan: we'll talk in person.}
The reply came after a brief pause.
{Irina: I'll take that as a yes.}
Irina chuckled as she placed the phone in her coat's pocket without waiting for his reply, before walking back to the mirror with a small smile on her face.
As if on cue, a knock came and her smile immediately disappeared, after all, she wouldn't let them know that she had gotten an advantage with just a simple text.
The Belozerskys were just collateral in this sibling war.
The next moment, a sound was heard "Sestra."
"Guess it's time to put on an act." She muttered.
