Becoming a Monster-Chapter 93: I’m creating Mini Bosses
Chapter 93: Chapter 93: I’m creating Mini Bosses
The first change Noah observed was a purple spear penetrating through the cracks. As it reached out of the egg and bent to touch the ground, he realized it was actually Arachne’s leg.
Observing from a distance, it appeared that the sharpness and color were the only changes. However, upon closer inspection, Noah noticed a few other differences. Her leg, which was originally covered in fine hair, now appeared almost bare. This made it seem as though she didn’t have hair on the first segment of her leg at all.
Additionally, the white pattern that originally formed within her hairs had disappeared, leaving only darkness that made up the rest of her leg.
It wasn’t until the other leg poked through that Noah’s tired mind caught up to how long they were. They were at least half a size longer than before and a few inches thicker.
He could sense Arachne’s urgency to free herself from the cocoon. She would have been excited to show off her new improvements if she hadn’t been made aware of what was going on around her. During the last moments of her awakening, she sensed Noah’s chaotic emotions and the battle taking place.
Now that her second leg had penetrated through, she stabbed both frontal legs into the ground to forcibly bring out her head, followed by the rest of her body.
Overall, she seemed to have grown only a foot in height, but Noah felt that was more due to the increase in the length of her legs. However, the length of her entire body had also elongated by at least a foot, and the circular shape of her backside had flattened somewhat.
Her physical changes still didn’t compare to the shock of her new color palette. Her exoskeleton was still purely black, but if it were to be given a name, "endless voids" would be suitable, as she was almost unnoticeable in the dark. If it weren’t for Noah’s set of extra pupils, it would be extremely difficult to make her out from a shadow, if not for the purple ends of her legs.
Noah was in awe at how much deadlier Arachne’s appearance had become. Even her fangs were enough to give him goosebumps just picturing them digging into his skin. Each new detail was more astonishing than the next, especially the unique changes to her eyes, which bore a strong resemblance to his own.
Each eye was nearly completely black with only a small violet dot located in the center. The positioning of her eyes had also changed. After choosing the assassin class, Arachne had lost the ability to see behind her. Her eyes were now mainly located on the front and the partial side of her face.
Despite not being able to see behind her, her efficiency would only increase, as her dynamic vision had been further improved to help her take down opponents with surprise.
Noah knew that her physical appearance had changed, but now he wondered what else had developed with the change. He wanted to quickly get the notifications out of the way so he could see the improvements in her stats, but as soon as he had that thought, Arachne appeared before him.
’So fast!’ Noah’s heart shook when he realized that her speed was approaching as fast as Fenrir ’after’ his stats were buffed from his killing instincts skill. He couldn’t say with confidence since his focus wasn’t completely on her, but deep down he felt that she was even faster than what she just showed. Noah’s curiosity skyrocketed when he asked himself ’just how fast is she?’.
"Hurt? Where? Where are you hurt? Why is Fenrir not here with you?"
Arachne bombarded him with questions, interrupting him from his thoughts. Noah didn’t need to rely on facial expressions to judge how anxious she was; even then, he remained unresponsive. He was more focused on something else.
"You can speak now?" He asked with a flabbergasted expression. All the times he spoke with her, their communication had always been through her own language. Yet the sound coming out of her mouth was actual human language. The sound of her voice wasn’t perfect; it felt weird to hear. It was more or less as if her voice was vibrating when she spoke. Her voice made her sound slightly robotic; he couldn’t help but try to look into her jaws to figure out how she was communicating.
Arachne tilted her head, her eyes reflecting confusion. "? I’ve always talked? Do you not remember me? I’m Arachne! I’m your queen! You gave me food, we ate tog—"
"Hey, hey, hey, calm down," Noah interjected gently, raising a hand to soothe her. "I didn’t mean it that way. You just...well, you’re speaking the same as me, so that just surprised me. Of course I remember you, how could I forget you?" He placed his palm above her two main eyes, caressing her head in the familiar way that always seemed to comfort her.
Arachne visibly relaxed under his touch, her tension ebbing away. "I’m sorry," she murmured, her voice still carrying that strange, vibrating quality. "I was just worried about you."
Noah smiled, though his mind was still reeling from the revelation. "It’s okay, Arachne. I’m fine. And Fenrir... he’s dealing with something else right now." He didn’t want to delve into Fenrir’s evolution right now, not knowing how it would affect Arachne’s pride.
The interaction he was able to have with her in this moment relieved him a lot more than venting his frustrations on the zombie moments prior. He relished being able to communicate with his creatures and understanding their feelings while he communicated with them. There was no reason to doubt their words or their intentions.
This peaceful moment reminded him of why he felt this way in the first place.
He stopped rubbing Arachne’s head and turned to evaluate Ailetta’s situation. She had yet to awaken, her skin still pale and her breathing shallow. The sight of her in such a fragile state made his heart sink again. The situation she had put herself in weighed heavily on his mind, a constant source of worry, sorrow, and internal conflict.
Noah considered leaving during the night to escape the torment of his feelings. The thought of distancing himself from Ailetta, if only to find some semblance of peace, was tempting. Yet, the idea also filled him with a profound uneasiness that quickly dismissed any plans of departure. He knew he would be consumed with paranoia about her safety, unable to shake the haunting images of her lifeless body that his mind conjured in his darkest moments.
Noah sighed deeply, his mind a maelstrom of conflicting emotions. He felt torn between the desire to protect Ailetta and the need to preserve his own mental well-being. The thought of abandoning her felt like a betrayal, yet staying meant enduring the constant pain of seeing her so vulnerable, endangering herself at the cost of her own well-being.
Arachne noticed the emotional changes Noah was going through and looked over to see the cause. Curiously she looked over, only to be met with more uncertainty when all she saw was food. She couldn’t understand the source of his distress.
She moved closer, nuzzling his hand with her head. "Master, why are you sad? She looks like food... is she important?" She asked when she noticed the same ’pain’ she felt Noah experiencing before was similar to what he was feeling now.
Noah sighed, shaking his head. "No...." Noah initially stated, his guarded emotions speaking for him. But looking into Arachne’s worrisome gaze, Noah felt liberated to speak his true thoughts. "I mean...yes....she’s important. Very important. And she’s hurt because of me."
Arachne seemed to ponder this for a moment, her new, sharp legs twitching slightly. "Then we help her. Like you helped me. She can be strong too."
Noah looked at Arachne, a small, tired smile tugging at his lips. Her thoughts were so simple and pure. Subconsciously, he reached out to caress her head again as he shifted the topic to relieve himself of his troubled feelings. "But let’s worry about it later. I’m curious to check your improvements." What he had forgotten to consider was that before he could get to her stats he still needed to comb through the list of notifications first.
[Arachne has finished her mutation! All stats have increased by 25%, while her strength and agility have been increased by 50%. Due to her subclass Rogue, +1 agility and +1 strength will be granted upon leveling up.]
[After obtaining the class Rogue, Arachne has acquired the main skill Stealth and selected the ability Coated Arms.]
[Stealth: Make your presence barely noticeable, leaving you undetected to unsuspecting foes. Noise, attacking, or even taking damage could cause you to become noticed. Affected by agility and can be countered by agility and spirit.]
[Coated arms-Imbue your weapons with poison to help you secure the kill when your surprise attack fails. As a spider you use your own poison as a base, but the poison is a lesser version to its original counterpart. Can become stronger with the amount of mana infused into the skill. Poison can be resisted by opponents through high spirit.]
[Your tamed creature, Arachne, has achieved the first limits of 50 stats in strength. Perk based on class Arachnid obtained: Painful Death.]
[Painful Death: A numbing corrosive poison isn’t enough. To truly disable your opponents, pain is always the best way. Your poison now has a stinging effect that inflicts pain after the first wave of numbing corrosion.]
[Arachne has leveled up! +5 attributes!]
[Arachne has reached level 10 and can now undergo her evolution! Due to your class ’Monster Evolutionist,’ Arachne has been given an additional evolution path to choose from. Choose carefully! WARNING! Choose when you are in a safe area, time for evolution is unknown.]
[Arachne evolutionary paths: Impure Queen, and Vaulting Shadow can be obtained.]
[Impure Queen: You have mixed with something that shouldn’t exist; your existence itself has been tainted to the world. Other spiders will despise you for what you are, but they will also fear you. As a queen, you will still lead through strength, but who knows what strengths that will be if you follow the path of the tainted. Agility and spirit will obtain a significant increase.]
[Vaulting Shadow: When there’s a shadow, sure enough enemies would take heed, or their death will already be determined. Light is your accomplice, because where there is light, there is also shadow. You will gain unimaginable speed fitting to your name and discover ways to bend light so you can benefit the darkness as you desire. No one will be safe from you, even in the day. Strength and agility will obtain a significant increase]
"..."
There were a lot of things Noah wanted to say and most of it was just complaints.
’Now that I think about it, where are my perks after obtaining the mage class? And why doesn’t Arachne have them either? AND what the fuck do you mean by tainted? I’m not some fucking disease!!’ Noah was feeling attacked, what made it worse was that it was the system that was insulting him. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
’Sigh...calm down, calm down...maybe it means something else by tainted. Yes, that’s right! It should be referring to my blood, yep that could be the only thing...’ He sounded unsure, but he would continue to say it until he made himself believe it. His thoughts then shifted to his other complaint, his eyes narrowing as he processed his thoughts.
Despite his efforts to reassure himself, Noah couldn’t shake the nagging feeling of doubt that lingered in the back of his mind. The word "tainted" continued to echo ominously, casting a shadow over his thoughts.
But then his focus shifted to another concern—the revelation that Arachne’s class was considered a subclass. His eyes narrowed as he pondered the implications of this discovery. "Her class is also considered a subclass...I was afraid of that, but I guess it’s not truly bad either."
As he delved deeper into the subject, Noah’s curiosity was piqued. He began to speculate on the mechanics of perks and how they related to their respective classes. "Maybe that’s also the reason we both were unable to obtain extra perks," he mused aloud, his mind racing with possibilities.
"Perks in themselves are abilities gained that most resonate with our class," Noah continued, his voice gaining confidence as he worked through his thoughts. "So that would mean all of my perks gained from my new advanced class would be overwritten if the mage class wasn’t considered a subclass, right? Otherwise, gaining an extra basic class would be broken if we were given a whole new set of abilities for free."
Feeling proud of his newfound comprehension of the system, Noah turned his attention to Arachne’s evolution paths. The choices this time were much harder to make than Fenrir’s. The Impure Queen seemed intriguing, especially because of its potential connection to him, but the lack of detailed description left him uncertain. On the other hand, the name "Vaulting Shadow" sounded ominous and, in Noah’s terms, ’badass!’ So, he was very interested in that class as well.
’I still have a little time to think about it, but....I’m pretty sure I know what I want.’ Now he could fully satisfy his curiosity from earlier as he checked her stats, just to be in for another surprise.

He knew her stats were gonna be increased, especially when he saw how fast she became. But as he looked at all her stats again, specifically to the total stats after ’his’ benefits from his class was attributed, he understood the true value of his class.
’The stronger I become, the stronger I’ll be making them. If her stats are like this now then I can’t wait till she evolves into her next form.’ Noah thought to himself, but then his eyes gleamed dangerously towards a specific stat of hers, before returning to her potential evolution class.
"If the class revolves around her mana and spirit, then I need to at least raise it as much as I can before she initiates her transformation....I still have time, for now I should spend her points to insure she unlocks the rest of her perks.
